Excuse me but could you please clarify that part? I know components vaporization points are not absolute and I'm aware it's more similar to a bell-curve in practice, where you always get some of the higher temperature molecules when vaping at a given temp.

But in my Ascent, if I vape at say 170°C, I can deplete the bowl until there is practically nothing to get (granted there is still very little and if I insisted for 30 minutes maybe I could continue...) there's no visible vapor exhale anymore. Then if I raise the temperature with the same load, vapor production restarts instantly.

So I really have troubles understanding how what you said is possible, especially when people claim the Ascent is mostly conduction (DaVinci say it's hybrid though, like S&B say for these two new devices) and we know that conduction vapes have the bad tendency to cook the load at all times.

Also if you get all the goods at low temperature, it means you can't get distinct effects? What if I want the heady low temp effects without the sedative high temp ones? I'm puzzled...

First off, I'm no scientician or mathetist. I just report what I find.

I wish I could tell you why it extracts all the goods so fast at at low temps  I personally have no idea why. I also have never tried an Ascent so can't speak to your experience with it but I can say they are not the same vape so I can't imagine they would perform identical.

I can say that I get practically no additional vapor when loading the ABV into another vape. This is my experience so far.

As far as finding the desired effect I want, I vape Sativa for one effect and Indica for the other.

Dude you are so on the defensive! Please re-read my post, I'm not asking if it can do low temps, I'm asking why doing low temps deplete everything as the other FC member claimed.

Besides the question wasn't aimed at you in the first place...

Seems you are the defensive one. You were confused. I tried to explain. You still don't understand? I don't know why I try sometimes. Lol

This sort of exchange isn't necessary. Please remember our "Be nice" rule and try not to be snippy with each other.

@Gonzo: Thank you for your answer. I must admit it is quite intriguing, because it seems to be different from all the vapes I ever used so far (not only the Ascent), and also from what people report in other threads regarding temperature levels with other devices.

It's even more intriguing knowing S&B devices have a tight active temperature control and are said to be mostly convection. You wouldn't expect to get high temperature compounds when vaping at low temperature, but if there is nothing left afterwards (and I trust you) then it must be the case.

I know you can get different effects depending on the indica/sativa mix in your average hybrid, but we have an entire thread dedicated to temperature-dependant effects here, so I'm not making it up. For instance I tend to vape at high temps only on the evenings, as I don't want the sedative and narcotic effects during the day.

So with this particular device it is not the case?

@GKeroZen With other vapes I have tried, I would agree with you.

With my Solo I start out at 3 and finish the bowl at 5. With the OG Cloud, I start at 11 and fishing at 1.

I plan to try going below 170c to see if the euphoric affects can be achieved without the higher temp stuff but just haven't had the time to try it out yet. Will report my results when I do.

Do they advise against it or say anything about it in the manual/warranty? I know it ships with an oil pad but I can understand your cautiousness. I use concentrates sparingly (they make my tolerance really high) but I enjoy them from time to time. Thinking about selling the Volcano and some things in my closet for one of these. I'm bored of being plugged into the wall and filling up bags. Plus it's the analog Volcano, so the Mighty would be like upgrading to the Volcano digital... unplugged :D

The video by the 2 folks that was on this thread yesterday, not sure where they were from? I can't remember I was reading it last night. I wanted to see it again. They were comparing the Crafty and the Mighty. Did the mods take it down? It said that the Mighty used a lot herb, but was very powerful, kinda big a conspicuous piece in public. I have an Apple phone so I didn't want to go with a Crafty. Really can't buy either one right now. I just wanted to read up for now.

I thought the video was good. They really didn't show themselves using the two units much. I don't want anything that's going to use a lot of product, but I do want power.

@Snappo I liked that setup with the whip and Solo tell me more.

Wizard Puff videos are gone. That outfit is spam city due to their affiliate policy and they're not welcome here. I suggest checking their site or youtube.

@invertedisdead

I didn't feel the need to use it for concentrates as I have a SSV with oil kit for at home and an SSV VIP for concentrates on the go.

@CarolKing

MY load size is as small as a packed log cape nylon stem. I get about 8 hits from that. Pretty small load IMO, but load size is relative.

The Wizard Puff "reviews" are pretty useless anyway.

The one thing I took from the Mighty review was that they mentioned the vapor keeps pouring out when you're not hitting it. Maybe the unit is using a large amount of conduction?

My VAS wants one of these, but I'm really not sure if it fits my lifestyle. With my FF, the heat is on demand. I can take a couple hits, put the unit down for a while, then come back to it and be inhaling vapor again within seconds. Same thing with my Herbalizer. Heats up so fast I have pure convection vapor on demand.

The Mighty seems like a session vape at heart. Might not be for me. But maybe I'll be proven wrong...

Yeah, I saw that vid, but WizardPuffs marketing strategy is a bit sketchy. But in regards to that vid, they did say something that I found really interesting . They said with the Mighty, if you set the temp above 180C, you get a LOT of bleed off. She said it just kept leaking vapor out of the mouthpiece between hits, and the way she described it, it wasn't just a little, which makes me think that there's more conduction going on here than S&B would leave you to believe and is the main reason why I sold my Ascent.

The ONLY time I want my herbs being cooked is when I'm hitting hit.

The vapor leaking out is minimal and residual from the cooling chamber holding it inside. If laid on the side this stops it. Maybe that speaks of the design and why it doesnt stand? And ill go ahead and just say it, the mighty does taste better then the firefly :)

EDIT:

Looks like I was wrong here no residual at all!:lmao:

Two things. One, is, how do you know that the vapor that is leaking is ONLY from the residual left in the cooling chamber? And two, if they designed it not to stand up to eliminate this leakage, why did they not do the same thing with the Crafty?

And how would you rate the flavor in comparison to the miniVAP?
im not going there, photo finish!:)

i dont know. What i do know that this is the new gold standard of vaping!;)

The leaking does stop in between hits just give it some time. In between hits i tend to let temp go up again to the set temp i made. By that time the so called bleeding wears off. Btw its not gas your inhaling but mist. i f you study the vapor path a little bit you would think this leaking aint possible unless it would be pressurrized get it? ;) or a fan pushing vapor out. havent tried it at high temp tho. but leaking only happens after i drew.

EDIT even if there is conduction, i had a pax.. and that was bleeding..; as others should know as well. The pax is full conduction.
Mighty is not enough to be bleeding i guess

For you, maybe, but being that you don't know if that leakage is just residual from the cooling chamber or could, in fact, be due to more conduction going on than what is advertised, for me, this leakage would keep it way out of the "new gold standard of vaping" for me because two things that I put high on my priority list is efficiency and lack of smell and leakage contributes to both in the form of wasted vapor and additional smell.

The vapor path isn't that different from the Ascent and it leaked as well, with absolutely no pressure or fan pushing it out.

ok thats a hard one. Have never tried the Ascent. But i am sure i have seen it stop leaking on the mighty. maybe at higher temps this is a different ballgame not sure.
But really? i dont think the leaking is that big of a deal. it is minimal.

Anyone with a mighty willing to pack a full bowl, turn to max and take off the cooling unit to see? If this is really cooking a load while in between hits then that's an absolute deal breaker for me. My Elevape has made me a convection snob, and I have zero desire to go back to wasting my meds between rips, I'd just have to stick with the solo for group sessions. I really want a mighty for larger groups though, the draw restriction being less then a new EVO sounds perfect

You are correct in that it only happened at temps over 180C, but while it's not a big deal to you, it would be a deal breaker for me as well as others.

I'm just trying to add a bit of perspective here to contradict the notion that the Mighty is the holy grail of vaporizers.

test for FC :) gonna use it pot pourri ^^

Edit gimme a min :p test @210°c which is max.. to be sure cap off.
Test: it is cooking slighty. damn hence conduction more then i thought it would but i never see it steaming like that with cap on seriously :)
