i tried sideloading to app to a fire tv using adb, and got this message...
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK]

adb connected fine to the fire tv's ip addy, and tried to upload the Crafty little app, but no joy.

fun!
Looks like you should attempt an Android-x86/VirtualBox installation on your PC or Mac :) ... (I have high hopes of this working!)

Yeah actually I suppose that is kind of cool and subversive, but at the same time it's also that classic Marketing & Advertising tactic of selling "revolution".

As in, "look at our revolutionary new product," because its so Special how this New Technology makes the User a Unique and Free Individual, thus granting them Happiness and Success too.

The unfortunate part is that such discretion is still necessary to engage in for so many.

I agree with you here to a degree. I would have been happy without the Bluetooth 4.0 and instead just have a Windows application to control the settings through the USB port ... I don't need to have it available on the road ... that being said ... I'm sure some users who like more than 2 temps will like it! (can't make everyone happy right :)) ... I really like the leaving the display/buttons/electronics out in favor of keeping the size down though as this suits my usage habits quite fine ...

I can't get over people complaining that the crafty has no onboard controls....THATS THE POINT. If you want onboard controls it gets bigger, and you end up with the mighty. Even when people are given the options they want, they find a way to be unhappy.

i cant get over those who are taking our feedback so personally. people are voicing their opinions on the temps and that is OK regardless of where they stand on it. seems to be the ones telling is to zip it on the subject are all early adopters. again its nothing personal.

and i would have to dissagree that adding onboard controls will make it the size of the plenty. it already has a way to adjust it between two temps right? surely a dial (or something) could be utilized to access the entire temp range w/out adding a to its size as much as another 18650. if any more size at all.

So anyone knows if the vapor production is comparable between the Crafty and the Mighty ? If the crafty have the same kind of clouds as the mighty that would be very interesting.

The claims are that they both produce the same (and I would imagine by the same I would think comparable ... 27W vs 30W) ... I'll let you know the comparison between Crafty and MiniVAP @Roger D once I have tested ...

wouldnt the only difference be in how long the cells last? they should vape identically, but the plenty would simply last longer due to utilizing two cells instaed of one.

are the herb chambers a different size/capacity or something?

Nope, same chamber sizes/capacity.

Its not that I take it personally, its just what do we think is going to happen? Do we think they will change the design? They clearly think the mighty is for those who want onboard controls, and the crafty the app is supposed to be a selling point. Its totally fair to disagree, but I'm pretty sure they won't change it. I have changes I'd have made to the crafty, but its not going to happen. They pick a design and stick with it like most manufacturers.

I guess my point is "it is what it is" since the volcano is relatively unchanged design for this long. Its just weird some people comment on it when its OBVIOUSLY not for them. It would be like me complaining about the volcano because I don't like bags lol. I don't like bags which is why I sold my volcano, but I know they won't change the volcano into an EVO style system that I prefer, so I just moved on to the vapes that I do want.

Sometimes I feel people just attack S&B products because of the price, which is pretty warranted. They are super expensive products, but they are well made. I like this $400 portable more than the $$$$ volcano though, so to me the crafty is a good buy for what I want. I just feel people almost feel like S&B products have to be the "best" because they are expensive, or thats their reputation somehow. That is kind of weird in the era with expensive top end vapes like the cloud, herbalizer, sublimator etc. Crazy expensive vapes are more common these days, offering more and more to the consumers who want to pay for it, but for some reason I think people expect that S&B has to be the best of the best or they are let down.

I don't believe in a best of the best style evaluation. The way I like to evaluate my vapes and some other goods are "if this ____ was stolen from me and lost forever, would you buy a new one, and how fast". For me the crafty, absolutely. My vapexhale, absolutely. Some other vapes I'd probably just say "oh well I've still got ___ and don't really need it".

No offence was taken at all man its just hard to explain these things online.

Nope, same chamber sizes/capacity.

then i would think that the plenty Mighty will just have a longer life between charges. all other funtions should operate exactly the same.

oh yeah... the temp setting adjustment would be different also. :rip:

You have to download the android-x86 emulator ISO and mount it to the VirtualBox Manager (via the storage tab). You can then install the emulator, and un-mount the ISO. From then on, you can boot into the Android OS directly. Let me know if you need further clarification, as I would love to have someone else working on the Bluetooth hurdle.

I've downloaded "android-x86-2.2-r2-asus_laptop.iso", onto my macbookpro.

Don't know what you mean by mounting to the VirtualBox Manager...
prolly gonna need a little hand-holding.

So I figured out how to describe how I'm feeling. I can't help but wonder if people are a little biased against S&B automatically after years and years of rabid fanboys insisting that the volcano was THE best vape one size fits all. I admit, I had that bias myself up until this vape came out. I never looked into the plenty at all, because of said bias. This vape just really suited me well on paper, and so far IRL too.

Hey @philosopher ... I'd be glad to help you with the BT hurdle but I'd need more info from you (I don't have a Mac install to play with ...)

If you want to PM me we could likely setup a remote sharing session through something like join.me and also connect voice (through phone or Skype) and I might be able to help you get it running ... (then you could provide the Mac based tutorial for the users in that demographic)

So I am leaning towards the Crafty for size and usb charging But still trying to figure out battery life vs the Mighty. The Apple app is a bit of a deal to me since that's the equipment I have and I won't buy the crafty until the release of the App or I can't wait any longer and just buy the Mighty.

What piqued my interest in these two vapes is the way they reportedly extract the material and give a nice flavorful hit from beginning to end. I love to pull my solo out for a change of pace from oils or to have a social session with friends, the thing is other then the first few puffs the flavor is only moderate and it takes a lot of work to finish off a stem. By myself I can kill a packed solo stem in less then the timer and will do 3 packs before I finally go do a dab from lack of satisfactory medication and oxygen deprivation. Does the Crafty/Mighty deliver the extraction quicker then the Solo?

This is essentially the entire reason I'm buying it. (I want a massive hitting pocketable portable that cools the vapor sufficiently to not require water ... not asking much eh? ...)

The MiniVAP can extract a load in 2-3 hits no problem, and the comparisons to-date in the Crafty/Mighty threads lead me to believe these 2 devices might be capable as well ... the cooling units on the top are of particular interest to me ... this is something that can be well done/built (the cooling units), and if the Crafty/Mighty have achieved it then they'll have something truly revolutionary in my opinion ...

The MiniVAP does not deal with cooling the vapor and leaves that to the devices of the user ... (which is why I use my Zapubbler with my MiniVAP) ... there are many vaporizers with a very short path from vapor production to mouth and these all give me problems ... the cooling unit on these 2 new devices is what really attracted me (along w/ the comparisons to the MiniVAP as far as extraction and vapor output)

Waiting in anticipation!!!

I quite like the crafty, but if I was an apple user who expected more than 2 heat settings, I'd wait. There is no guarantee the app will release at all, and I'd hate to see people flip out at S&B if they deny it like they do other legal random things such as emulators.

I did try an unground nug today just ripped up by hand into BB sized pieces. Worked great. Less even vaping than when it was ground up, but better flavor. I find unground buds = more flavor in most vapes. At the expense of less vapor and less even roasting.

My Crafty was shipped today via Next Day Air Saver and it requires my signature upon delivery. I need to plan to stay home so I was wondering if anyone knew if next day air packages are usually delivered in the morning? Is there a guaranteed time of delivery? I know that sometimes for next day air packages they usually deliver them first but I am not sure.

My Crafty next-day seemed to be delivered by the usual UPS guy, at the usual time (late morning - early afternoon). YMMV

They ship via Next Day Air Saver which means the package gets delivered with regular UPS packages. Next Day Air = AM delivery.

FWIW I left a note on my door saying "please consider this my signature and leave the package". Probably not a good idea if you live in a city or rough area, but my neighbors are far enough away and generally mild people, so I felt safe. If something went wrong you'd be SOL though.

Yeah unfortunately Amazon devices are like the Apple of android lol. All locked down and many frameworks and google services missing. Supposedly you can root them and mod them to work, but my girlfriend wouldn't appreciate me tinkering with her personal tablet, so I'm no help there.
The amazon fire phone is a no-go anyways, bt 3.0

This is where the crux of the matter lies ... needs to support Android and BT4.0 ... if you meet those 2 requirements then I can't see why it wouldn't work ...

I've never used an amazon android device, there seems to be a few operating systems that are used across them but I'm pretty sure that you can only load apps from amazon's pre-selected apps not google play.

You can sideload Google Play apps, root, and jailbreak Amazon devices very easily. Of course, without BT 4.0 the Crafty app still won't function as a remote.
