I would be very careful doing this--I put a single battery from my LB in my otherwise empty pocket, and a while later was so hot I was running around the living room trying to get my pants off, and the battery out of the pocket---it was way too hot to touch . . . I now keep mine in a little plastic batter holder.

Wow this thread is long. We just got the MFLB. A few questions (I have read around this thread but it's so long so please excuse me if these have been asked many times before):

1.) On our first few attempts she lit a nug on fire and it sizzled out. Left a little black spot on the screen, but everything seems fine. Should we do anything to clean it or be concerned?

2.) We use a Vapor Bros vaporizer normally, and usually get a nice white mist on our first 5 hits or so. Seems like with the MFLB you get very little visible vapor. Is this correct or are we not using it correctly?

3.) Does pressing the battery in and out after the herb is warm, "pulse" the heating element or is this bad?

1. Never load a nug in there, it needs a fine GRIND! dont just use your fingers, that wont suffice here, get a good 2 piece grinder like Space Case or Mendo Mulcher. If your combusting in your MFLB, it will probably need a cleaning, just be gentle while cleaning around the screen but be thorough as well. If you dont have a grinder right now you can use a clean pair of scissors to cut it up as evenly as you can.

2. Do you load nugs in there too? You need to grind it for pretty much every vaporizer.
You need to experiment with all of the contributing factors and your personal technique in order to get the best hits.

3. Nope. Once the battery makes contact, it will need a few seconds(not TOO long or you could burn it!) to heat up, but then you start pulling and near the end of your hit you stop making contact then inhale deeply to clear the vapor. Hold your vapor in for a bit, most people say at least 10 seconds is ideal so try that.
Remember, it will need a few seconds as soon as it turns on, but it heats up very quickly so timing is key here.

This is normal, happens to almost everyone. The boxed tend to run hotter for the first few weeks, and you also need to practice your technique.

Edit: I overlooked the fact that you didn't grind. Grinding is the most important with the LB. Get a coffee grinder if you can.

Visible vapor is usually less than other vaporizers, however, with practice you'll be able to control just how much vapor you get. It's all in how fast you draw and how full the battery is.

Should be OK, just keep monitoring the battery's temperature. The hotter it gets the more it degrades, so it's preferable to keep them as cold as you can while using. That's why I always use 2 batteries at a time, swiching between the two as they heat up.

thanks for the replies guys. forgot to mention we did use a grinder and always have. just that maybe one of the chunks of herb was a little big. sorry for calling it a nug.

also, how many people pulse the battery after the initial 3-5 seconds?

I don't pulse the battery, but I pulse my inhalations, so called
micro-pulls that allow the herb to vaporize through a range of
temps.
I only disconnect the batts when I'm done.... basically.

I do the same as Vapirtoo. Pulse draws not pulsing battery works very well for me.

If you find a bit that wasn't ground well enough just crumble it up...crumbles easily after really dry from a few hits.

I placed my order Dec 30 and I got billed for it today. In the email from mflb team PA's ship between 10-14 days after its been ordered. They ship out of San Diego, CA.

Ordered mine 2-3 days after Christmas and found out it ships tomorrow.

So I wanted a custom stem and decided to try something out. I took a dowel rod and with some patience and multiple drill bits and a power sander and many broken pieces of wood later I got a few of these nice guys. Im going to try use a small tip wood burner to put designs on them. Maybe even sell them one day if the wood burning / painting turns out sweet Experienced users of course because you cant see the vapor in the stem

Love it. Perfect for being on the go. Stadiums, theatres, crowded environments. Fits in your palm and if you go without stem you can much more easily conceal.

I suggest carrying several batteries when on the go. MAKE SURE your batteries are NiMH & at least 2000mAh. Use a SLOW charger. It is possible to get USB chargers for the NiMH batteries. The USB adapter will not only power off of a USB port on your Computer, Xbox, etc. but can also be powered using your cigarette adapter in your vehicle if you have an adapter that allows for USB connections (many Smartphones, iPods, Zunes, Walkmans, etc. will have this type of converter included in a travel kit, or you can find them super cheap online.) You MUST strip your batteries of the plastic casig before they will fit in your LB unless you have Modified the box itself.

I heard that there is an AC adapter being released sometime in the near future, and specifically early to Beta Testers. This will allow you to save on recharges for your batteries which will make their lifespan increase. I hope to acquire one of these, or create one of my own soon.

It's also possible to connect a bag and fill it by connecting a bag to the stem and gently blowing into the hole on the backside (opposite side of the stem). If you're savvy enough you can use an external fan to accomplish this same task. And if you really want to get deep, you can connect multiple boxes together using flexible stems and a splitter attachment (Y, T, 4-way, 5-way, etc.).


There are many mods that can be done on your Launch Box, but be careful as many will VOID your warranty. If you have some mechanical and technical skill and know a little about woodworking you should be able to come up with endless ideas for modifications.

I am from germany and since 4 Weeks an owner of this fantastic product.

But: I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong - or it doesn't work - maybe someone could help.

So, thats the way I'm using the lmb (after reading most of the 320 pages):

- I open the slider.
- Put in some (really fine grinded) "green" - so that its filled to the shoulder of the trench. Close the slider.
- stick in the (fresh loaded) battery, count till 5, take the draw...
- ... for about 25 seconds (veeeeeee+eeeery slowly - I use the time to fill my lungs for about 80 % - it is so slow, it's hard to recognize, if I am still pulling) - during that, I feel it "warm" at the peak of my tounge.
- After that, I take off the battery (still pulling for about 3 more seconds)
- I shake and turn the lb upside down while breathing in fresh air (to fill my lungs 100%) - hold breathe for maybe 4-7 sec.
- I do this operation maybe 3-4 more times - everytime with a new battery.
- Then the green turns into some kind of brown (not dark, more like the color of an old plant or like not-so-fresh-grass).

But: I dont get the kick. First I thought, it was the green, which doesnt get me high... but I put the "trash" in a joint - and hellopopello - it works fine. Even my friends "feel" the same .

so. I tried different Batteries - enelope 2700. Same effect.
I tried the 3-seconds-pull - 3 seconds wait - 3 seconds-pull and so on-Method. Doesn't work too.

So. Could it be, that my lb is just to cold?

Any clues?

Seriously, be sure to let me know if you sell those. IDK if magic flight would mind either. I can imagine everyone wanting high quality wood stems with custom logos or engravings...or even plain.

tomtomtom, welcome to the forum. I think what you might be experiencing is the learning curve associated with changing over to vaping. It can be a larger curve with this vape because of the stealth factor. Have you been mixing your green with tobacco as many do in Europe? If so that could also be part of the problem. The high experienced from vaping is different than combusting, especially if tobacco was mixed in. Also, many have found the smaller, more stealthy hits from the LB difficult to see, which often makes people feel that they aren't getting anything. IMO, it's the difference in high and the lack of visible vapor that's making you feel as if you aren't getting the high you want. Give it a little time, practice and patience and you might find you feel differently. Also, when you are blowing out your hits, try blowing them into an indirect light. You might be amazed at how big of a hit you actually got.

And JD, great new stem. I think you've got something there. They remind me of Ed's tubes. I'd be interested too.

Try getting some really good batteries and a good charger, I've found most of the time that's the problem. (you will need to peel the label off of new batteries) Search back for battery suggestions. -viel Glueck

tomtomtom, it's possible that your unit runs too cold.

A good test is to push in a fresh battery, and look down the stem, watching the indicator light. You should see vapor forming and swirling in front of the light within 5-8 seconds. The vapor will slowly start to fill up the chamber and crawl in the stem, looking like a thread or something.

If you fail to see vapor in a fresh trench with fresh batteries then contact MF, this is probably a warranty issue.

Thank you for your Welcome and the fast feedback.
With tobacco I haven't tried - cause I just quit smoking (thats why I bought the lb) - and don't want to get in contact with tobacco again.

But it's a good point - maybe the high I got from the joints was more a tobacco-high, than a green-high. And so the combustion-high could feel like a no-high (I hope the things I write are a little understandeble - sorry for my really bad english).

So - I will try on. May my learning curve someday break down.

PS: I have tried the blowing in indirect/direct light - and I have seen some vape in the air. Not much - but there is something.

Then mom must be right. Some of my friends also don't like vaping and rather roll a joint with 2/3 tobacco... They just miss the body effect of it.

sweet.... my PA shipped out today. I'm glad I've finally changed my stance on whether or not I liked my LB. Love the hell out of this thing. . . and am expecting to like it even more in a few days. Put my order in on the 29th of last month.
