First question: how did you find him? (I'm such a riot...)

First, I advise you to add a link to your sig, which is permitted for manufacturers. I'll put one here for now:

http://www.triihouse.com

To save some questions from people who won't watch the videos or don't pay attention: the whip is silicone, the screens are stainless steel. From the website we learn that Waldo costs $129. The warranty is one year on manufacturing and materials defects, and does not cover defects due to misuse, abuse, alteration, neglect, or modification. The materials are stainless steel, glass, and hardwood with no glues, dyes, or paints. The wood is oiled with Tung oil.

Waldo is a really handsome lad (I'm glad he ditched the stripey stocking cap, I never liked it) and he can make pretty impressive clouds.

Now for some questions:

Is the air/vapor path all stainless steel and glass or is there wood exposed along the way?

Is it possible that the heating chamber will eventually dry out or overheat the wood, making it come loose?

How easy/difficult is it to combust with this device? How hard is it to get the technique right?

It looks like an efficient unit, what is your average load size? How much can you vary it?

How much cleaning is needed, and is it easy? How do you go about it?

I got nervous when you rapped it to shake up the herbs, how likely is it that you might knock that glass tube out?

Finally, what's up with the mouthpiece? It must add to the experience somehow, could you explain?

I just got my Waldo in the mail. I will put it through some testing this evening and report back.

First thing I'm going to do is swap out the silicone tubing as it smells a little "off" to me and I like the silicone I get from Amazon in any case.

The mouthpiece seems interesting, but I don't really see how it would add anything to the experience. Time will tell.

It is like a puzzle with magnets, swiveling parts, tubes hidden away..... very interesting.

Stay tuned....

I like the name :)

Would Waldo also produce vapor when you just heat the glass tube from the outside so one doesn't have to inhale and/or taste unburned butane?

Thanks, OTA. I knew you'd understand.

:science: I'm having mixed results with the initial testing phase.

I'll post some pictures and thoughts in a bit.... BTW I'm officially "waldo-stoned" :whoa:

Ok, so I've been trying to mod this thing so as to eliminate inhaling butane exhaust. First I tried the gn0me instead of the supplied glass heating tube. It actually fit tightly into the hole, but it is still too wide to go all the way down to where the bowl is (like the standard glass heating tube does).

Gnome result: Fail.

I tried using the supplied mini torch, and my Benzomatic and I couldn't get any visible vapor at all. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200. Next I tried the Vapocane. Although the hole fits most 14.4mm pieces, the Vapocane is too shallow and just wouldn't sit well. I suppose someone could bore out the hole a little bit to make it fit, but I don't think retained heat is going to work with this unit.

Vapocane result: Fail.

I even fucked around and made it fit with some adapters, but putting the heat source so far from the herb I knew it wouldn't work. I took a pic of that for the helluvit.
Here it is just basically resting on top.

Pic for fun with adapters.

So I broke down and tried the Waldo the way it was meant to be used and it worked very well. It takes a little getting used to the timing and flame distance as you would expect, but was quite intuitive for me.

dxxmva.jpg

I loaded about .1 of some Master Mistress and proceeded to pull some nice clouds that I had to back off of a little. I think I was getting close to combustion at one point, but I backed off in time.

After my first good hit I took a pic of the bowl:

As you can see the heat is very concentrated in a small area, so stirring between hits is required for optimal use.

I took a few hits without the mouthpiece (it doesn't seem necessary), but I ended up re-connecting it as it was somehow easier to inhale at the proper speed when I used it. Go figure.

So the bad news is that for those who absolutely refuse to inhale butane exhaust (you all know who you are), this vape is not for you.

The good news is that I'm not one of those people, so I plan on enjoying this little bastard. The taste is quite good considering the amount of wood and silicone involved. I was really suprised by how good the taste was.

The manufacturer explained to me that the exhaust from torched butane is just CO2 and H20, so it was tasteless and harmless. I tend to agree with him, but I know people have concerns about other additives in the butane.

In any case, I'm suprised I was able to even do this write up as I'm pretty baked right now.

:peace:

edit: Sorry for the double post. Like I said....I'm kinda baked.

I love the way this is designed. It reminds me of a keepsake box or puzzle box. I also am wondering why the mouth piece is designed that way. Are you supposed to pucker your lips? The inside reminds me of a Tuba mouthpiece.

GANGSTA!!!

The thing that I don't like about some butane vaporizers... mostly ioLite and the Wispr is that you can smell all the butane rising up into your face/nose. I do not think this would bother me as much.. it is the smell that I don't like. If you are inhaling it, you kind of bypass your sense of smell.

This is a very interesting looking vaporizer. Quite a unique design.

Yeah, the mouthpiece makes it feel like your hitting a bong. You purse yor lips, but the seal may or may not be airtight. I played bass trombone, so I know what you mean. It's kinda like that.

Without the mouthpiece it was harder to keep a slow, steady draw. But that could be just me.

Hi all,

First off thanks Pakalolo for elaborating and sharing info from Triihouse.com

I want to be organized and thorough as I can answering all questions.

Transparency is also very important to Triihouse.

All questions and feedback is very welcome.

Questions:

1. Is the air/vapor path all stainless steel and glass or is there wood exposed along the way?

There is exposed raw wood along the way of the air/vapor path.

2. Is it possible that the heating chamber will eventually dry out or overheat the wood, making it come loose?

From my own experience that has not happened. I think this is because the vapors ( oil/moisture ) from my more resinous herbs acts as a sealant/protectant for the wood that is exposed.

If you follow instructions, the wood should not ever overheat.

My own personal Waldo, that my partner uses also, gets about 5-8 double sessions a day for the last 6+ months.

We also believe everything is possible, hence the 1 Year replacement warranty.

3. How easy/difficult is it to combust with this device? How hard is it to get the technique right?

This answer has many variables.

First and foremost it is POSSIBLE TO COMBUST.

As far as the ease and difficulty, it really depends on the herb and the user.

I have vaporized White Sage, Lavendar, Chamomile, Wormwood also. When I vaporize my usual
herbs, I get vapors 100% of the time.

Different herbs contain different moisture/dankness levels. Different structures, foliage to buds to stems to flower ratio.

Adjusting Waldo is as easy as just lowering/hiring your torch flame and/or drawing more or less air as you vaporize.

Stu, he is a member on FC, has a review on this thread somewhere.

Some quotes from Stu's review:

''So I broke down and tried the Waldo the way it was meant to be used and it worked very well.''

''It takes a little getting used to the timing and flame distance as you would expect, but was quite intuitive for me.''

''I loaded about .1 of some Master Mistress and proceeded to pull some nice clouds that I had to back off of a little''

''In any case, I'm suprised I was able to even do this write up as I'm pretty baked right now.''

4.It looks like an efficient unit, what is your average load size? How much can you vary it?

The stainless steel screen that your herbs will sit on is about the size of a dime.
The instruction manual says to at least cover the screen.

We don't recommend filling the herb chamber more than halfway. This allows for room to tumble your herbs and also allows for more air movement.

I attempted to weigh that herb amount in the picture, the scale was at 0.0 g.

085.jpg

5. How much cleaning is needed, and is it easy? How do you go about it?

There are 4 parts that need to be cleaned/replaced in order to use Waldo most efficiently:

1.The stainless steel screen. Hot soapy water, iso soak or replace with new.

2.The chamber underneath where the screen sits. Depending on your herb of choice, you can brush out small particles that get through the screen, or you can gently scrape out resin build up. The tweezers and brush in the kit work well.

3.The stainless steel fitting that is inserted into the side of Waldo and is connected to the silicone tubing. Moisture can build up. Use a qtip after using Waldo so that the moisture is still warm and easier to clean.

4. Silicone tubing. Resins, particles and moisture can build up. Replacing is recommended.

A thorough cleaning job can be carried out in 15 minutes or less.

6. How likely is it that you might knock that glass tube out?

7. Finally, what's up with the mouthpiece? It must add to the experience somehow, could you explain?

The mouthpiece is designed to simulate using a waterpipe/bong . From our testing this allows for more diaphragm usage, less strain on jaw/face/neck muscles. More control drawing air.
Great for the frequent vaporist.

Man, that's the second time this week I get away with that.

You FC guys must really like your pictures aye?

Great review anyways, thanks for taking one for the team again

Also thanks for the added info and cut-through TriiKLe.

People love those here, I think you will fit in here nicely.

Also a big plus for that mouthpiece

Thanks for a thorough set of answers. I don't think I've ever seen another manufacturer provide a cut-through like that. It certainly looks like an efficient little unit.

Salutations TriiKLe,

Transparency is also very important to Triihouse.

Although i'm just an ordinary member without a vaporizer collection i certainly wish to convey my sincere congratulations to you. After being around for over 2 years now i can't even recall 1 single dedicated thread which showed everything a potential customers may want to see before he's required to flip to page 2!!

Confidence in a product is a nice thing when backed up in such explicit way. Thank you for this extremely rare sample which i believe all other manufacturers should want to imitate, actually.

Has anyone on here used the Daisy? I own a pax for a portable, but am interested in getting a torch powered vape and was looking at both of these vapes from Triihouse or the Lotus or vaporgenie. I have searched everywhere for a video of the daisy in use but cannot find one. I really like the look of these vapes and the company seems very friendly.

NinjaMindTriks I have not used the Triihouse but.. If health and taste are your general concerns then you should go with the Lotus because unlike the other two you dont breathe butane exhaust..
The daisy functions the same as the original Waldo.. i bet there are a few video's of use..
