Steel Cut Oatmeal ABV...

Firecrackers used to be my favorite way of consuming ABV, but not anymore. Don't really need all that fat and sugar.

Yesterday, I found out that just by sprinkling some on my oatmeal works just as well if not better and it comes on faster.

Recipe:

Bring to boil 1 cup of either soy milk, regular milk or almond milk (I use soy) and 1/2 cup of water.
Pour in 1/2 cup of steel cut oatmeal.

Simmer for 25 to 30 minutes with intermittent stirring to desired thickness.....uncovered.

While simmering, slice up one banana into empty bowl. Add in a handful of either 10 large blackberries or a couple handfuls of blueberries. Sprinkle in a teaspoon or two of cinnamon.

When oatmeal has reached desired thickness, add in 2 grams of ABV (my ABV is a chocolate brown color) to oatmeal in pot, and stir............immediately remove from heat and pour oatmeal/abv mixture over the banana's/berries and cinnamon. Sprinkle on top a handful or two of walnut pieces.

Toss and stir to mix things up.

Enjoy........Not only did it get me totally blitzed within an hour and kept me there for another six, it's a really healthy AND tasty way to get there.

Bottom line.....you don't need to either heat up your abv nor do you need to mix it in with food that has a high fat content.

me likey--thanks.

I'm a great fan of steelcut oats, currently waiting for my "grain dealer" to get enough folks to buy a pallet of grains. I get the 50 lb bag of steel cut oats which keeps remarkably well and gets used up as I eat it almost every day.

Berries are great but my regular addition is raisins and craisins and banana. I top with cinnamon and
brown sugar.

This looks MUCH easier than all the canna coconut oil type recipes! For when I get enough ABV to use.
Thanks again

So it doesn't taste all nasty?

Can't taste the ABV at all.

Yeah, I eat steel cuts daily. If I run out of berries, Ill bring out the raisins as well.

If ya try it out, report back, k?

I think I will try it out. I just got back into "MMJ" after 30 years away . I'm not in a mmj state so my stash is really tiny. When I get enough ABV/ recently started with zero, this looks like the quickest, easiest way to try.
I was going to do canna-coconut oil but this looks much better.
I just thought it would taste nasty, that it took something overpowering like
chocolate ABV brownies.

It works. I used my AVB oil and it was a pretty good and easy delivery system. It's not as low cal as I would like it be but it wasn't bad. And now I can just use my AVB as is. I like it!!!

This recipe would even work quite well in the "Bachelor Chow" thread. :brow:

Though, you'd probably need to add some step-by-step pictures...:ko:

I used to eat large amounts of AVB straight all the time, and I always preferred it that way.. I'd just eat it w/ something fatty, and it always worked great, although IME it always took a good amount of time longer to kick in, but it would seem to last quite a while compared to coconut oil.. I have stopped using it whole like that, and now I only extract it into Vodka.. I find it much easier on my stomach that way, since the whole AVB started to really irritate my digestive tract.. I still find I need to use the AVB Vodka w/ something fatty though, but it usually keeps me very medicated for close to 24 hours, I'd say.. and it doesn't take much of the AVB Vodka either.. I usually use a shot, maybe 2, and I get what I consider strong effects.. Maybe it's just me, and I probably just have a sensitive stomach these days , but I really pay for it w/ stomach and digestive issues every time I eat whole AVB now.. I used to love eating it whole, since you don't have to mess w/ extracting and straining, and you don't lose anything! Eating it whole w/ a scoop of Ice Cream was my favorite way.. If you haven't tried that yet I recommend it

If you like the results then great, that's all that matters... but IMO/IME quicker onset usually means shorter duration and a considerably lower plateau than is possible :2c:

I need to repeat though. For me, with this oatmeal recipe, very low fat actually worked better in that I came onto it in an hour versus 2 to 3 hours using ABV with high fat ingredients.

Do you fine grind your ABV , as pulverized as possible, to make it blend in better?
Or no need to do that?
Thanks

Wasn't my experience. The high was just as intense and it lasted just as long.

When I vape, I always use a medium grind and when the bowl is almost done, I'll pour out the bud in the palm of my hand and role it between my fingers to expose any unvaped material, reload and it's good for one more hit so when I use it in my steel cuts or in my firecrackers for that matter, no additional pulverizing is necessary.

Perhaps it is your super low tolerance (may as well be a super power) playing a part here, @lwien ?

I can't do edibles whatsoever, so just speculating here.

Could be. We already have another member here comment that it worked for them as well though. Looking forward for others to try this out and report back their experiences.

Edit: One thing to mention though. If my tolerance had anything to do with it in regards to the fat content, I would think that I would be higher after using firecrackers than the oatmeal, eh?

I'm going to try when I get enough ABV as it seems like the easiest/ no way to mess it up
method. Since the ABV is very dry, I roll it between my fingers (crumble it down) before
adding.

My only concern is that it hides the taste well and doesn't feel gritty when eating--that texture
feels like plain steel cut oats.

My recipe above TOTALLY hides the taste and doesn't add any grittiness to it at all. I think the very small pieces of walnuts maskes any grittiness that could happen.

This sounds great, man! I made a batch of 5 2g ABV firecrackers with nutella and, sadly, it is getting to be more and more difficult to stomach these things (they're so dry to consume, and my burps afterward are :zombie:)

I've done similar by sprinkling 2g in some yogurt (nonfat, actually) and it worked quite well but the flavor was kinda meh. I used to love oatmeal, especially steel cut oats, haven't had it in years so I think this will be the best reintrodution!

Hi! Newbie here! Loving this place, so I thought I'd jump in here...good a place as any in the forum! :D
So, I'm also tired of all the "ways" to cook your ABV again, and glad I found the "just eat it" folks!
I just ground up 2g into powder, mixed it into 2 tsp Jif (I like it!), and put it on some toast. Will let you know later!

This is great, I'm definitely going to try it. What I'm getting is that you find no need to bake ABV into a fatty oil (firecrackers) and you just add the ABV as an ingredient at the end.

The way that I make steel cut oats is different - I boil one cup of water and at the boiling point I'll add 1/2 cup of oats. I'll let the oats boil for one minute and then I'll shut off the oven and cover the glass pot and let it sit overnight. By morning they're ready. I just simmer it for a few minutes, add kefir, cinnamon and a dash of stevia.

So, if you were going to make steel cut oatmeal that way, would you say that adding the ABV at the very end of the simmering, and then stirring it up and then removing from the stove would produce the same effect?

Oh I Member
I love how simple AVB edibles are. I've never added it to oatmeal, but I love putting a couple grams in yogurt with grains. It masks the taste and texture!
