well my other 4 stems never had it and they arrived safely in their tubes. So its a coincidence that its down at the hot part of the stem I guess? Either way i'm gonna try it out.....I will post pics soon just having phone/camera issues!

ah I get it I kinda figured when you were headscratchin,i apologise my friend. Had I bothered to fiddle with my phone and attempt to unfreeze it I could have posted what I meant. Sorry man my bad. As I said I burn myself a lot cos I am the biggest klutz iI or anyone could encounter....if nowt else it would help me not pick up the hot end and serve as a visual reminder not to be a numpty(Scottish slang for dickhead) but until i find out if its heat resistant i'll keep it off!

I've still got my original screen and it still works jus fine. Li'l beat up after using since June. So I reckon the 5 I got will last me a while. I had one all glass and I used it with whole nugs and loved it. It broke.. ..I am a klutz,,,,,I might have mentioned. Hehe  edit.....did I manage to change it before anyone read that I vape whole bugs?

how do you clean a wooden stem? I feel like anything would ruin the finish of the wood

EDIT: I think this is the answer "These stems should never be submerged for cleaning!!! Remove the screen and clip, then simply dampen a cotton swab or pipe cleaner with ISO, shake off the excess and gently push through. Never ever submerge the wood!!!"

Why would out want to clean it for?
I would let it gt all gunked up on the inside after a while the oil will get so thick It will drip back in to the bowl and vaporize
If you must clean I would use a pipe cleaner soaked in vodka then sqwees some vodka off so the pipe cleaner is damp and run it up and down the stem till cleen will help I you just had a sessh as the oil will be warm and easyer to remove

@btka
I think your stem may be faulty and you should contact andy

Been recently experimenting with larger loads and wow cloud city...

For my usage, I've always been looking for slightly larger loads.

It wasn't until I watched @Enchantre 's video that I realized how far up some of you guys put the screen and what was it meant to use the e-pic to measure the distance. I shove my screens down as far as my GonG's allow, :).

Do most users use small loads with the screen up high?

I'd ask Ed. He's the wood expert here AFAIK. I'd just use ISO on the inside, since finish isn't an issue.
Lightly dampen a Q-tip with ISO and swab out the inside of the stem. You can also wet the Q-tip with ISO and clean off the screen from time to time without removing it, and also remove the horseshoe clip to get the screen out for a more thorough cleaning or replacement.

I've been doing that for years, with all my stuff. It was vaplen asking the cleaning question, although I'd still like to know what a wood guy like Ed recommends for outside cleaning without harming the finish.

Though I don't wish to speak for Ed, my experience proves to me that the outside of a wooden stem is easily and safely cleaned, though rarely necessary, by also dampening a light cloth with ISO (just enough to get the grime off) ...and then generously rejuvenate with Bomb Ass Butter! Super simple AND super effective!

Tweak when I owned enano's I Did the same with the screen. The extra distance always prevented my herbs from scorching when I took long draws.

As per @Vitolo , I dip my long Qtip in Everclear, and then run it the length inside the wood stem.

I do not wish to breathe Iso, ever ever ever... the residue of EC & resin seals the inside of the wood stem, and is harmless. Let it dry before using again, of course.

RE: how much herb with the stem/gong, I use a very small amount, which works very well for me. I get a good 5-6 hits off the amount I show, and that's a good session.

I will do another vid, cuz I want to get the HD thing fixed, too.

Small is good.........I have no water toys atm. but Small loads as stated are best and most economic way for this puppy.IMO. I'm getting lower and lower with my temps these days and find the smaller loads further away are producing better hits and tastier too. I was always rockin my load almost touching the heater but my throat has just said NAY to that recently and I've changed to small and lower temps. I've fallen in love all over again and have been going for 16 hours now. The half bar of haze looks barely touched and i'm almost comatose.........where are my eyes????:zombie:

I'm not sure if glass is objectively healthier but I do know silicone tubes do an amazing job of heat retention so it is easy to get very full extraction and significantly denser clouds in fewer hits.

@Lahey that is exactly how I use mine! I have mentioned it before but no pics and hard to explain. Now if I can get the wife to stop twisting the cord! I think this is one of my favorite mods?/:shrug: I started using it when I had the Extreme Q. It would hold the hose from the wand as an extra hand. I just draped the tube over the hook and it is like a third hand!
