Massdrop Sales

I am starting to not understand Massdrop .
I never see anything on here that I cant get a better deal on just by searching most of the time .
I got my Solo for $120 from PIU .
And (off topic ) usually the headphone prices are retail prices some times more.
Maybe its just me ? I can accept that .
A lot of the items you can find cheaper if you're a good price shopper. Some stuff is so obscure you won't find it on Amazon or any other low price site, possibly just the maker's site or Massdrop.

usually the headphone prices are retail prices
I've seen a very small percentage of headphones where I could beat the MD price, but for the most part MD's headphone prices are better (sometimes by a lot) than Amazon or any other bargain site. Never seen any on MD at a true retail price. Why would anyone bother if you can't beat retail?

Right now they've got a Kershaw Scrambler knife I'm considering, for $21.99 delivered. You won't beat that anywhere on-line-not even close.

Do compare prices, including shipping, and keep in mind that MD prices go down when sales go up.

Massdrop has the Solo back up for sale. $129.99 now down to $119.99 if 6 more people purchase.
It's down to $119.99 now, plus shipping.

As far as Headphones go I should clarify . I have purchased about 30 pairs of different Pro Audio headphones over the last few years (many were returned) for my work .
I have yet to see a deal on any of those that I cant get elsewhere . I don't pay so much attention to the consumer headphones anymore . So there may be deals there .

As far as the Solo I think you can get one for $120 any day at some of the retailers who advertise here on FC .

I think the deal on the LSV if it gets to the best price is a good deal . I have not checked the others because this is the only one I am considering now .

So there are deals to be had but just not I stuff I need usually .
But I will keep looking !!!

Massdrop finally got back to me. Here's what they said about the Ascent:

"If there is an issue with a product, we always recommend contacting the manufacturer for trouble shooting advice or technical support. If the product is deemed defective and the manufacturer is unable or unwilling to provide warranty coverage, we will uphold the manufacturer's warranty and facilitate a return for a replacement or refund if necessary."

If one is thinking about getting the LSV, make sure it's one of the newer models with the strain relief and not some of the older inventory that's been floating around as of late.

Does someone know if Solos come with a manufacturer guarantee on Massdrop?

A bit puzzle, according to MD, prices drop as buyers increase on an item, is there a " lowest price"
where it is fixed? Regardless of # of buyers?

A buck twenty for Solo. Has been so for a number of day, and the buyers keep adding up.....

Last I heard Arizer honors their warranty. All MD items have a price range clearly spelled out. The Solo's lowest price is 'unlocked'.

This one shows none sold and how many are needed for each price point.

Whoa! Meaning, price is "LOCKED", no matter if they have more buyers? Isn't that a bit of MassDecept. If not, my sincere apologies.....

Hate to counter your remark but "lowest" can be further lowered.

Their "more joining drop, prices drop more" then rings hollow.

So if enough people order should it be free? That makes no sense. The idea is to pool enough buyers together to get a volume discounted price. Not to drop their price beyond profitability. The MSRP is nearly double the MD price. I have purchased 2 Solos through Massdrop and the only downside is the waiting. IMO.

Each price point is 'unlocked', when there are enough buyers committed. Every MD item shows the price range available, and how many sales it takes to get to that point.

I don't see anything on the site that says the price will continue dropping, even if a thousand buyers jump on board. If a Solo were to drop down to $20, due to a ton of buyers committing, somebody would lose a ton of money.

Some good info for those new to MD on their FAQ page-

"If you click the “Join Now” button and the drop is successful, you will purchase the product even if it doesn’t reach the lowest price point. If you click the “Commit to join” button, you will only purchase the product if the lowest price point is reached. Once you “Commit to join,” you can change to “Join Now” at any time before the drop ends."

Exactly.

Good to know that, new to to game.

Wait. "Commit". Doesn't mean commit? You can change the time hallowed meaning?

Now I am confused. Maybe I'll lower my nuts.

:shrug::hmm:
These things seemed very clear to me on Massdrop. I always use the "commit to buy" because the low price is why I am there in the first place. That option means I am only charged the lowest price, if there are not enough people I am not charged. Some sites like PIU will do price matching and match Massdrop prices...

Might not be the best terminology, but it's understandable. If you know a better way to put it, let 'em know. Maybe they'll agree.

What I like about MD is the number of products I see for the first time, due to lack of wide distribution. Once in a while I find something interesting.

Interesting e-mail from Massdrop . . .

We're Dedicating a Buyer to the Vaping Community

We’re excited to announce that we’re dedicating a full-time buyer to the Vaping community. Vaping is one of the biggest communities on Massdrop and we want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to bring you the products you’re passionate about.

To start, we just got back from the Champs trade show in Denver. We met a lot of incredible companies there (especially glass blowers) who were all interested in working with the community. We got the ball rolling by creating a few polls. Vote for the products you’d like to see on Massdrop and if you don't see anything that interests you, feel free to create your own poll.

There is definitely a lot available on Massdrop right now, check out the Vaping section if you haven't yet - https://www.massdrop.com/buy?cat=18+.

As a few others said, some prices are good and others are close to what you could find elsewhere. I highly recommend comparing prices before you join any drop. Also consider price matching, @PuffItUp has a price matching policy and has matched Massdrop in the past, just send an email. I know I'd rather get a Solo from PuffItUp at about the same price as Massdrop, receive it in just a few days instead of weeks (or longer), and I'd know that I have the best customer service to back me up if anything goes wrong... with free return shipping!

One day left on the Arizer EQ drop, just 4 more people needed to get it down to 130$.

I actually applied for this. Got a call back from Peter Chung. He wanted to set up a meeting. Next day I thought, "What in fuck am I doing? "

I mean, I'm totally qualified for this job with decades of experience both in purchasing, marketing and advertising, but I retired 10 years ago. In the communications I had with them, they seem like really nice people, but I don't want to go back to work, so I contacted him back, told him I had a brain fart and suffered from an acute 'bout of temporary insanity, and that I was super sorry to have waisted their time.

But man, this seems like a great position for someone who wants to get into this game. I'm just not motivated to do so right now, although, some extra cash here and there would be nice.

Admit it @lwien.... You couldn't bear the thought of having a "company rep" badge on FC that would have made you have to behave around here.
