The cooling units are only ~$20 ea. so having a spare or 2 makes sense I imagine as well (I'll be buying with the maintenance kit so I have an extra)

@elmomuzz In the video you looked like yur really pulling hard to get the vapor that you got. My concern as an old guy (not athletic) is that I don't have the lung power for a vape with even the slightest bit of resistance. I've purchased vapes that people claimed had little to no draw resistance only to find myself unable to get good vapor bic I don't have the lung power.

So is the "cooling unit" pretty much just a fancy name for a mouthpiece ? at $20 bucks that ain't far off the cost of the likes of one davinci flexi straw, not so bad of a price in todays market.

Well no, its not just the mouth piece. The mouth piece is that straw looking part but the cooling unit is the whole top piece and it really does cool the vapor down. Check out this pic that was posted.

I thought you would find this interesting. Using a Flir infrared camera I took a picture of my Mighty after inhaling through it a few times at full heat so you could see the heater and vapor path. You can see that by the time it reaches the mouthpiece it is cool.

i wouldnt think so... check out the top right side of the pic... considering the mouthpiece is on the left...

So you can use the straw without the 'Cooling unit' ? See what I'm asking/saying ?

The device operates well with slow draws or long fast ones. There is practically no resistance at all.

Hard to clean and small parts is a turnoff to me, and the reason I will keep enjoying my firefly. I have never had to clean my screen, probably because I don't use it for concentrates. The draw goes away from the screen on the firefly like it does on these s&b models(?), so they don't get clogged unless stuff drips into it.

It doesn't look like there is much to clean besides the cooling unit and mouthpiece, which should be easily soaked in ISO. It's nice that replacements aren't too expensive, but if I can clean and re-use, that's better.

The only other "small pieces" from what I can see are the screens and some o-rings. Looks like there's an o-ring around the top of the bowl and another one for the mouthpiece seal? Anywhere else? Either way, those are easily replaceable when they get worn out. The FF uses some o-rings too.

I took the ordering process far enough along that all I had to do was click "place order" to complete the transaction, and no tax was being added. The shipping address was in CA.
Then I'm surprised, since others with a CA address seem to be getting taxed automatically. Do you know for sure that you were on the US site, vs. their home site in Germany?

I'm thinking a crafty with swappable batteries and on board temperature controls would be pretty ideal right now.
And the $ savings for the Crafty would likely disappear too. A power bank would help with the battery situation. I could live with 2 preset temps, especially if they can be changed to suit your preferred settings.

Yup, thinking the same thing. But isn't that even bigger?

Really looking forward to a good comparison of the two after they've both been used for a bit by the same vaper!

It is bigger, but these are portable home vapes. The market makes a lot of sense for devices like these. I have a few home vapes, nothing wrong with them but I miss the freedom of a pipe or bubbler.

My concern with these vapes is can this plastic be cleaned, or are you supposed to buy a new part every time it gets dirty like the Easy Valve for the Volcano?

The cooling unit is designed to be taken down and cleaned with iso as per instructions. I have an easy valve and do the same, you can replace the bags on the easy valve also.

This has me concerned and is kind of a deal breaker for me. Although that's just me so please no reason to get offended - is there such thing as a vape that is made in the USA with an all glass air path? PS: I don't need you to tell me why these things are not important to you - they are important to me.
Thanks

@ButterMan totally agree. I hate plastics. IMHO plastics and heat don't go well together for taste or other aspects (which I won't go into at the risk of starting a sh1t strorm).

Although not too many people are reporting plastic taste with the crafty thus far, I'm sure they use a high quality plastic.

I was a long time lurker on these forums and other review sites before I bought a vape because I had similar concerns to you.
If you are talking portables and glass path, only 2 come to mind, Davinci ascent and arizer solo.

The davinci ascent has an all glass vapor path, however, the air path goes through some of the circuitry in the middle (where the 2 glass stems meet and have an air gap) and there have been many reports of plasticy robot fart tastes. I think there are ways to improve the seal and vapor to air ratio, but it's all too much hassle for me to rip open a brand new vape. If they release a v2 with this problem fixed, and no circuitry in the air path, I would buy it.
It is made in China.

The solo is a stainless steel oven (most recent model) and a glass stem (so effectively a glass vapor path). I never got a plasticy taste. Not even the first pull. There are very little, to no, reports of plasticy robot fart tastes.
I think some air is drawn from the bottom through the same area as the battery but it has never been a problem for me.
It is made in Canada.

Both have somewhat restricted draws from report; I think you mentioned that was a concern. But for me the latest model solo with a pvhes stem is an easy draw (but I'm young and fit).

If you don't mind stainless steel think about the firefly! Heard lots of good things about that. Or wait and see if there are more plastic taste complaints for the crafty/mighty.

I have 10 vaporizers, with about half of them in regular rotation.
I just realized that none of them are made of plastic

In fact, none even have plastic parts; besides the four in my sig there's the
  • firewood 1.0
  • vg glass sherlock
  • ssv, ssv, lsv
  • hi saber
I used to have a few plastic vapes; the pnp, evo*, and herbalizer and a few other portables but they're all gone now. Upcoming is the evoke and the zenpen, no plastic in those either. Never going back!

*I completely approve of the plastic used in the evo, hopefully these are of that same quality.

It sounds like the plastic can be cleaned. But I'm curious about the second part of your comment. The Easy Valve (which I own) is certainly cleanable, and durable. I've used mine for years and never replaced it. If the Mighty is made to the standard of the Easy Valve, I'm IN.
