just a quick thought... maybe a sleeve or something could be used to keep temps down on the outside of the unit.

i may have to get one of these

The bowl is on the bottom of the unit àla Pax, the lid is a bit awkward to close but it can't open in your pocket itself.

I really agree with your review. I love the goboof (and I own just about every portable vaporizer made from the the iolite to the Pax.

About the herb chamber lid, I do like that it can't fall off or get lost like the Pax lid. After using for 2 dys, I got the hang of opening and closing the lid easily with one hand.

Although it does require about as much cleaning as the Pax, it's easier especially because you don't have to punch the screen out with the pipe cleaner, like you do on the Pax. Also really important for me, I don't need to worry about lubricating the mouth piece stem as we do on the Pax. That's a hassle I'm happy to not have to deal with anymore. Ordering the screens with hole in the middle from the goboof website should make cleaning even easier.

Finally, although the goboof oven is much smaller than the Pax, it is so efficient that the effect (for me) from the smaller amount of vaporized herb in the goboof equals the effect of the greater amount of herb that is required for the Pax.

Does anybody know if the name "goboof" means anything?

I really like the Automatic Heat by Puff mode. My favorite mode so far.

I didn't get a reply either.
Apparently it is the same as with almost every other vape. We either get it never, later or for a higher price.
I know Vapefiend is getting it but not in the next couple of weeks.
Thought it would be different with the ALFA because it is made in Europe.

This is off topic but why don't you buy the Project X? It has only a 2 year warranty but is supposedly the same thing.

because I could buy them in china directly for half the price, if I would want to buy a chinese counterfeit^^ that's exactly what the project-x is

Oh boy just ordered mine from gotvape.net, $218 total with a 3 piece titanium grinder. I just have a MFLB, like it for home use with power adapter and glass bong orbiter, but on the go use is a pain..... Hope my bong whip fits over Alfa mouthpiece.

Earlier I got an email from goboof saying that they had problems with the manufacturer of the Euro charger and that's why it's not available for purchase yet.

Hey Darkrom and FC people,

So whats the consensus on the air path and materials used? I've been following closely. We all know I'm mr picky.

I heard the air path was clean and sealed off, anyone know where that info is coming from? I'd love to see one taken apart.

Anyone see how it is held together? Easy to take apart?

I just confirmed from the manufacturer that the air path is stainless steel. Also the mouthpiece is made of food grade silicone. I hope this answers your question.

Salutations keepsitreal87,

It directly connects the oven to the mouthpiece...

Thanks for using time to provide us hints! Great way to picture it anyway.

If i may ask. When cold, if one end is blocked hermetically, does it still allow air to circulate, somehow?...

:peace:

I infer that they're almost directly referring to FC, at least I like to think so :D

Actually I just found out why it's called goboof. The owner is a kayaking fan. A boof starts off as the last powerful paddle stroke at the top of a waterfall which prevents the bow from nose diving which in turn allows the kayaker to land flat at the base of the waterfall. Sounds like fun. Here's a link to a boofing photo sequence:

Hi Egzoset,

With my unit cold, I can cover the heating chamber with my finger and pull to feel the almost complete resistance. I am pretty convinced that the air path is fully sealed, as any air I was able to pull through was a result of me being unable to fully cover the bowl with a finger...maybe I'll try to improvise a better seal...any ideas?

This sounds good so far, chewing gum that's sticky enough should plug it just fine i suppose. Is it possible to block the inlet path completely? Possibly using a thin plastic film located directly over the holes that need to stay clean, etc.

...any ideas?

M'well, it would be better addressed to the manufacturer actually: water was mentioned above after all... So if both the inlet and outlet paths are plugged then it may bubble when immerse in soap-water while the whole complete cannabic path should remain dry. Something many others wouldn't even dare contemplate as a demonstration aimed at boosting the reader's interest, so maybe you've got a winner in terms of fresh-air/cannabic containment and i'd like to believe it as i've got a few smoker acquaintances who'd benefit from a vaporist conversion.

Not to mention Christmass is coming fast...

Thank you for the time and effort.

covering the bowl with your finger sounds like it worked perfect to prove that the vapor path IS sealed off from the rest of the unit.

EDIT: for a better seal you could try kitchen sandwich food cling wrap or a baggie or something like a condom on the bottom of the unit to make it more airtight.

I posted before the taste was decent, it's more than decent, it's a nice taste and, unlike lot of conduction vapes, you don't get any abv trash taste, even at high t° abv don't char and don't taste like that (I'm thinking the higher level could be lower than 230°C....), in fact abv looks like a convection vaporizer's abv!

Although the battery didn't last the 2 hours claimed but more something like 80-90mn, but I think it could last 2 hours if you only use the low setting....

I'm deciding between the new Indica Noir and this vape, I would like to hear some opinions from someone who owns both.

What keep me away from pulling the trigger is the ridiculous high temp on medium and hi setting, do we really need that kind of temperature on a vaporizer?

but this device looks so slim and sexy, and I really dig the small bowl design. This could possibly replace my Pax vape which I really like using due to the big clouds I can get from it even at low setting, but it's such a weed hog, eats up your stash like crazy which I dislike.

Is there a water pipe adapter for the Goboof Alfa?

I think not but the silicone mp can make a good seal with some pressure in a mâle 14 or 18mm joint, but it's a 2 hands job!

I need to do some more 'scientific' test about battery lifetime, with my last charge I done only 4 bowls but I didn't notice how many times the sessions spent, probably more than 20mn cause it don't kill your load too fast in term of taste and efficiency so you can make long session (except if you start at max), maybe 30mn (and 4 x 30mn= 2 hours, the claimed battery monglife!).

I think the t° claimed are not exact, I don't think the higher level is 230°C, maybe 10 or 15°C less imho!

The Imag plus produces cloudier sessions but the Alfa taste is better and clouds are enough for on the go!

Unfortunately, it has only begun!:evil:VAS DEMON:evil:

Does the alfa have some sort of battery indicator?

Yes, the led, when you turn it on is green when fully charged, turn orange and red when depleted (the same led is blinking when unit is reaching the t°) this led is really stealth!
