OK, this morning I put over an ounce of top-plant buds into the freezer. If I don't get suggestions here for the correct slick pads, I'll just order a bunch this afternoon on Amazon and get ready for an Everclear extraction this weekend. I'll probably run it in at least 2 batches so I can tweak the slick pad technique.

I also have a few grams of kief that I'm not sure what to do with. Should I just heat it and press it, or should I run it with Everclear like bud?

these are the pads im talking about. the genuine oil slick "duo". place scraped up oil into a pile on one of them. then sandwich the oil by putting the second pad ontop of all of that. place the sandwich on some light heat (just enough to melt it) and then just press down on the top pad while it warm. squeezing the pile between the pads while heated will form a round and evenly thick blob of oil. and the texture of the pads gives the top and bottom of the blob a nice proffesional look to it.

and yes run keif just like you would flowers ecept you can increase your wash time considerably since there is little to no waxes/chlorophyll.

I've been messing with different thicknesses of pfte (slick) sheets. What are u looking for? I will say there is no pfte sheets that have the same physical characteristics as the oil pad. The slick sheets are roughly .003" in thickness. The closest thickness pfte sheet to a oil pad IMO is .010" thick. It will form to basically anything but it does form creases but they will flatten out. Also you can still do the fold and peel method pretty well. When ur done just spray a bit of ISO on it to clean/reclaim the rest. After a few wipes ur ready for another run. I ordered mine through eplastics.com just search virgin pfte sheets and you have a variety of thicknesses .001"-.935" or something close to an inch.

Also virgin pfte sheets are safe to use with the solvents right from the beginning (NO MORE SCRAPING). After ur purge fold n peel. If it not sticking apply minimal heat and try again till its a manageable size for you.

I know I asked before but I am now out of my OS brand sheet. Who carries the closest replacement for that size/thickness? Also do you find these other brand PTFE sheets have the same non stick properties as the OS branded ones? I know @Deadshort480 tried a roll and said it wasn't as stick resistant as the OS ones he used.

BTW just looking to replace parchment for storage. Not looking to blast on it.

I found no difference. I believe they are both 100% virgin pfte. I have both and IMO they are the same. The slick sheet is around .003" if your trying to get the same as the OS slick sheet.

I ordered the slick pads and they should be here Saturday. I'm looking forward to trying this technique- thanks everyone! I'll let you know how it works out :)

I got a slick pad too and my first batch using it was turning as crumble, very dry and powder consistency, very , very difficult to handle, before I always got shatter (pyrex dish and scraping), I think the slick pad make the heat purge longer....maybe this is the explanation...

I'm a bit disappointed cause I expected to just peel the shatter and put it in my nogoo container

PPN, the issue you describe is because the slick pads distribute heat much more quickly and evenly than glass. Solvent actually evaporates off quicker than most people think. After that, leave the shatter too long on oil slick on too much heat and you'll have the situation you described above. Those oil slicks transfer heat so quickly!

I just finished a run with some absolutely top shelf THC Bomb nugs, my first bud run in a while. Same as per usual, kief caked onto the sugar leaves and even the stems. Ran about 1.5 ounces. 3.4g of delicious lemon flavoured rock hard shatter later and I'm vaked (No I didn't use all that lol). A scrumptious first run! I'll have pics later :)

I have some dabbing to do first!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a carb cap for this?

I ordered it a few days ago and I'm excitedly awaiting it's arrival. I've used other people's nails, but this is the first one that's mine.

Looks like you can just use anything flat and non-flammable

And on another topic, I'm trying a different method of winterization. Basically a tube run blasted into a dry iced cooled container, where it will sit for about an hr and then be filtered through my 5 micron vac filter. I was wondering the ideal screen size for the tube? I think I may be best off using a coarser [metal] screen so I can maximize yield. Anything that makes it through the metal screen should be filtered out by the 5 micron filter. However I'm not sure if using a coarse filter on the tube will compromise overall quality.

So, thanks to 2C, my shatter is now beautiful! After scraping the evaporated stuff, I placed it on the slick pad, put another on top. I squished it down a bit so it was flat. I then put them on a piece of tin foil, folded it and put the foil on a heating pad for about 5 minutes. I let it cool down and simply pulled it it off the pad!

The results are amazing. Flat, clear, perfect looking shatter! I'll post pics tomorrow :)

So I got that domelss quartz from ebay, and I noticed after a couple dabs there was a craCK. I'm reasonably sure it wasn't there before, so I'm annoyed.

Ive been using 99 percent iso but ive been recommended kleen extract. But at $80 gal is is it worth it? Lookin for some insight from some people who have tried it.

I don't know how to vote. I bought a gallon. Made two batches out of 20 gram of bud. Got 3 back. Black instead of clear or amber. It tastes as good as anything I have ever imbibed. It was a fine time aged top shelf and I was bummed about mason jar to little puddle. But now it has lasted a month. (I take 3 puffs every 3 hours once I start vaping for the day. ) You can't buy Everclear in my state. (Clones, Ounces and Concentrates yes but Everclear, no.)
I have half sitting in freezer. If I could get grams for 30 I would buy but they are 60 so I think I will make.

Experienced concentrate users: Do you think the type of the strain used (i.e. indica, sativa, hybrid) changes the effects of the final extract? I'm new to concentrates and don't want the crash that often comes from indica-dominant strains.

It absolutely does. Good indica weed will produce good indica shatter if done well.

the concentrate effect is amplified. Each strain's properties become stringer and more exaggerated.

Thanks Rover and Dieter Paleo. From the couple of times I have used wax I noticed that indica wax was a lot more stoney than sativa wax, which was comparatively less physical and more cerebral. I just wanted to confirm the results of my very small sample size. I prefer sativa dominant strains so now I know what to look for in concentrates...

So I just made my first batch of QWISO from stems and leaves from two types of Amnesia Haze, Blueberry, AK 47, Vanilla Kush and Lemon Skunk. A real cocktail.

Exept for a semi failed attempt of QWISO based on Moroccan hash, this was my first atempt at concentrates.

I let it evap with fans and all, and when I came home it had turned in to white powder on the verge of being crystals.

I thought oh fuck, well well...

So I put it parchment paper, wrapped it and rubbed and pressed with my warm hands.

It turned out pretty fucking great for a first timer!

Dark green with hints of golden yellow.

Something tells me I've got a new hobby
So yeah, this powder stuff, rather normal I take it from this thread, or?

I got a reusable filter that is anywhere between 60 and 63 microns is that fine to use for qwiso?

I don't see people talking about co2 extracts and I have no clue how it works. Do u have to purge with a vac or invest alot ? Whats the pros cons? I noticed most off the good club shatter is co2 extracted and they brag about how its naturally hard at room temp because of purity can this be achieved at home? Hoping for some tips and info from someone who has tried it

I think it might be some kind of wax/oil that dried. Was it all turned to powdery white or just parts?
