MiniVAP Vaporizer

Whatever you get off on and makes you happy!
It is sold as a portable Vape but it can also work as a desktop vape.

6 of these, 12 of those...

Pretending to be something you are not - you answered your own question there man...lol!

I'm not sure what you mean about "pretending to be something you are not." (And I think you mean six of these, half a dozen of those....") Language is what we've got, and we might as well be as precise as possible.

I was summoned?

Looking good @lazylathe

I could easily make a mold to cast those kinds of parts. In fact, I'm creating a WPA for the Firefly this weekend! (Vapor polished the mold, casting a plug tomorrow). Something like this might be easy to design since there's no strange dimensions to work with.....

Ah if only I could afford a minivap

Ideally this should be designed as a replacement top cap with a GonG connector on end instead of just the little ring ... (at least that's what would be ideal for me :))

Edit: a "cap cover" would work ... but a "cap substitute" would be better :)

That's what I was hoping for with his herbalizer cap, but (I think) this is different anyways because it's a mold for silicon rubber.

Almost there...
I was thinking of buying more top caps and modifying them with glass GonG's to fit various adapters.
Then i saw the price per cap was $56...
And the pipe dream turned into blue vapor...

Just working with what i have on hand!
A 3D printed part would not be hard to design.
Just needs to clip over the nipple and have an 10/14/18mm GonG on top.

miniVAP is mighty proud of their accessories. It's about the only negative for them IMO.
Do they have to gouge us on trying to enhance it's usefulness??

Slightly off topic here MVers but i think I mentioned awhile back about using the large basket with a decently packed load. Then putting an arizer basket into the large one pushing the herb closer to the heater. This way all of your load is closer to the heater. Seemed to work on the two I had tonight so if someone else give it a go that'd be sweet. Especially with some of that stuff yous guys have got over in the states.

And yeah, the prices are pretty crazy.. And quite frankly off putting to most potential buyers. It's a pretty odd business model to be following. Like they perhaps wish to keep their user base low at the mo.

I've had my miniVAP for a few months now and after all this time I'm running into a bit of a problem.
I can't seem to get it clean anymore. The whole unit smells like ABV and my hits taste like ABV as well.
I took out the silicone ring and the two screens, cleaned those separately and also wiped everything I could reach with cleaning alcohol. Still smells like ABV though..
Maybe it's because I always use the red temp.

Can't help you bro as my unit has seen some good use and doesn't smell any.
Could you give us a run down of what your usage pattern is.. Material type, baskets, inverted.. etc

vaype, Like KK said, please list your exact pattern of useage, temps, flowers or??, flexicone or the flexicome + , wirebasket or put herb directly in chamber, hard mouthpiece or tubing, straight vaping or thru water piece, etc.

It's very odd as my mV is clean, like new, with no smell or stains.
I use the wirebasket with a screen on top, clicked into the flexicone.
It is like new spotless and odorless.

I always used it with the 2 screens + silicone ring inside. Then I plugged in a basket that's connected to 2 screens with one of those sillicone ring thingies. Then through a water piece or sometimes with the lid + mouthpiece, it depends. The ABV taste/smell has gotten better since I cleaned it, but it's still there.
Don't you guys smell anything from your miniVAP when you take out the basket and smell it up close?
Do you use the red setting often? Maybe because of slight combustion there smelly smoke was formed...

mine is less than a month old so can't say. smells like PTFE to me.

but I seriously doubt your smell is due to use of the red setting. combustion smells nothing like ABV. Do you use a very fine grind? maybe ABV dust particles have fallen through your basket screen over time.

has anyone achieved combustion with a working MV? I haven't seen it

vaype,
I just went and smelled my mV. I did a small basket this morning, on green. It awaits me going back and doing red level. It has the wire basket, top screen, flexi cone, and 2" hard mouthpiece. From 6 inches away, no smell whatsoever. Nose up to mV, still no smell. Take off the top and stick nose up to chamber, very very slight smell. Stick nose up to basket, a very subdued lemony smell.
It is very odd that your mV smells.

Let us know if you find out what/why.

If I stick my nose practically in the heat chamber I smell the faintest of odors, and having never cleaned it, not unexpected, but it's a good smell. :brow:

I always finish on red. A properly operating MV will not result in combustion.

Fixed the problem :)

I completely submerged a rolled up paper towel in cleaning alcohol and wiped the chamber with it very thoroughly. I guess a bit of cleaning alcohol even dripped inside, but I just left it alone for 2 hours for it to evaporate. Chamber smells only very faint of ABV now when you stick your nose into it. I'm not sure why my unit had this problem and noone else. I always fill the bowl very loosely and not jam it in there at all. And I always inhale very hard and take huge 20 second hits through my percolator ice bong :science:, so maybe my herbs reach a higher temperature and become more smelly or something. Or it has to do with the fact that my friends and I have used it so extensively.. :whoa:

Drive a rally car through a sh#t load of dirt and it's gonna get a little honky. How extensively we talking? I think we have a vast array of different level of user on here too. Glad you seemed to have sorted it out somewhat.

Plus, it sounds like he's loading herb directly into mV chamber which is fine but I always use "basket module" which keeps chamber cleaner, acts as another wire barrier to keep tiny herbs out of the mV innards, etc.

Nah I've always used the basket.
But I've used it almost daily, sometimes multiple times a day and with friends. Especially with friends it goes quite quickly.. :)

Mines is used daily also. No smell. I use the supplied brush to clean out the baskets after every one is spent.
Anyone tried the large basket + arizer basket yet?

Stink somewhat explained.. :bang:

Edit: Something I noticed about the straw. As the glass at the bottom section of the straw gets hot and the air in the remaining tube is cool the MV spews precious vape out of the straws end as it draws air through the intake(s)? :nope: to replace the air heated.
How didn't I envision this!!

Info for anyone interested in the decarb kit but doesn't want to pay the ridiculous price I payed from Hermes.

I measured up mine and included some photos. Found several places online that sell stainless steel tubing with near identical dimensions. All one would have to do is cut to length to match the silicone version you already have. Here is an example of where to buy. 12" length for under $10.

Thanks. I'm perfectly happy with the stock unit but it's nice to find an option for their super-pricey accessories.
Did you find any replacement for the flexicone, maybe some weird plumbing reducer that works....;)
Good job
