Crafty/Crafty+ by Storz & Bickel

Despite being a developer and architect (and overall not a fan of Apple products for many reasons) ... there are a couple things that make Apple products stand above the rest for me:You could always get a real phone?
- iTunes Match (I have my entire music collection in the Cloud ... so it's available for me everywhere including my phone ... doesn't sound as good as on vinyl, but still nice ... I've also transferred most of my vinyl to digital so at least I have it with me and iTunes Match syncs it across my Apple TV's in different locations, my phone for when travelling and in the car, ...)
- the iOS is a good OS ... it works very well regardless of my personal bias against Apple ... they've done this well ...
- there are a lot of excellent apps available for the iOS (and there are not always equivalents in the Android world ... at least there are some that I depend on that I haven't found good replacements for ... paid or unpaid)
- things I hate are things like the price and fact that you can't upgrade or expand your device or easily replace your battery etc ... all kinds of things that seem to be just designed to make you "spend more money" ... really pisses me off ... why can't their be a micro SD slot or something?

So it sounds like the main advantages of the Mighty over the Crafty are 1) temperature control directly on the unit and 2) longer battery life.
However, with those advantages comes an increase in size. Interesting. I think I'd rather have the Crafty at this point. If the unit really is using mostly convection, the flavor is in Firefly territory, and it handles smaller loads well, I might have to replace my FF...

Those guys at S&B plotted this quite well! But now both devices have great disadvantages as I see it. The Mighty is too big and the Crafty depends on a phone to change the temps. Battery life should be great in both of them I believe. But come on now… They could surely fit two tiny buttons and a tiny LCD display on the Crafty! But no, they placed a tamper tool instead…
No matter how fast the vaporizer market grows there are still no really good all around battery vaporizers. They all have their big disadvantages!How difficult was it for S&B to make a Crafty with on-board temp control, sell it at it's current price and dominate the portable market? Not much I guess, but they chose segregation instead!

until my solo dies as I see these on a par with it in usability for me. The Crafty isn't stealth enough the only stealthy one I have is my flowermate.
The battery on the mighty sounds good but it's a monster. Useful for self defence I'd wager.

I'm confused as why people would buy the Crafty over the Mighty. The Mighty is only $69 more and gives you double the battery life and on-board temperature controls. It's nice knowing that you don't need to launch an iphone app just to control the device. There's something to be said about having everything you need to make it function right there. The idea of an app sounds cool but I think it should just enhance the device, not hinder its use. The $69 for the Mighty was a no brainer for me. Plus it really doesn't look THAT much bigger than the the crafty. There is one user video out there on YouTube right now that was referenced here before and the Mighty really looked a lot smaller in the hand than I imagined. If you need to be stealthy, then why not opt for a hash pen or a good old fashioned JOINT. The Mighty and Crafty feel like high quality portables that were designed to take with you to friends' houses, road trips, office parties, golfing tournaments, hospital visits, polka music festivals, baby showers, the zoo, Cherynobl vacations, trips to the Dead Sea, trips to Miami, trips to the Bermuda Triangle... Etc. If I wanted to be stealth then I would think like a spy, sleep like a spy and most importantly, dance like a spy.

It's not about the price difference for me. For me, it's about getting the best performance in the smallest package. If the Crafty can produce comparably to the Mighty, I'll take the hit in easier temp control and less battery life.
Which brings me to my next point. For me, the battery life for the Crafty will actually be GREATER then the Mighty. How you ask? USB battery packs!
Since the Crafty can be charged via USB, and be used while being charged, I suddenly have a massive amount of power on tap in a small package. The Mighty does not offer the USB option. So while at first glance, you will have more battery with the Mighty, if you have a USB battery pack you can easily last longer with the Crafty.
I agree, having the immediate temp control would be nice. However, I don't anticipate myself needing to change temps much once I dial my sweet spot in.
For me, flowers > concentrates. I want a portable option for flowers that doesn't make me miss my EVO when I'm on the road.

Precisely. But I still want it in the smallest package available. I'd like to be able to pocket it, etc.
All that being said, I'm not completely sold on the Crafty vs Mighty. Performance will be the ultimate decider for me. Really looking forward to some comparisons between the two. If they truly do offer equivalent performance, it's the Crafty for me!

Hmm... like all the other s&b devices, I want one of these but not enough to buy. If I was looking for a minivap I would have to give the mighty a good look. The crafty looks great for stealth but I still like my firefly. The most compelling part for me is the app, looks fun to play with so I'll just do that for now!
I'm thinking that the best feature of these portables is that they can be passed around as easy as a joint/pipe, with no special instruction which could be very handy at gatherings especially with combustors.

Just got a firefly myself a few weeks back and yes I'm a huge fan of Storz and Bickel. The Volcano has been my main vaporizer for over a decade never fails. A big advantage of both the crafty and the Mighty would be the exact temperature control and therefore much easier to pass around. The Firefly is more like a nice instrument that you slowly learn how to play. The fact that it's only convection gives you one or two pure flavour hits that other vapes simply don't.
Also something to be said for elegance and using glass and an easy to clean stainless steel air path over plastic.

I was of the same train of thought initially too... But I believe someone earlier pointed out (and from the photos and videos) the buttons and LCD look like they add a bit of size to the mighty. I have a feeling they did the Bluetooth option to perhaps keep down unit size to make it truly portable (which is a huge selling point for most).But come on now… They could surely fit two tiny buttons and a tiny LCD display on the Crafty! I don't know how big a Bluetooth chip is, but they can fit them in Bluetooth ear canal headphones these days (super small), so I assume it would have been a noticeable size saving by using Bluetooth only.
Not to mention all the extra feature control you get over Bluetooth.
Having said that... if they could have managed to fit some small buttons and a micro LCD... That would have been good too lol.

The Mighty is nearly 9 cubic inches larger than the Crafty. That's a fair amount larger considering the Crafty is only just over 12 cubic inches. For me, the Crafty should be able to be comfortably pocketed while I can't imagine I'd feel the same way about the Mighty.

I like the fact that there's less stuff to break on the crafty, this is the main benefit of outboard software control on a vape this size. If they did this with hardware there would be less options and reliability.
Is anybody else surprised that the bowl sizes are the same on these two units? I would have liked a larger bowl on the mighty, fodder for the other thread I suppose but better for gatherings.

Just to nitpick and also to support the poor new FC member whom you didn't even welcome here before bashing his argument: there are plenty of battery packs with adjustable voltage output, on which you just plug a jack adapter.
Mine, which was recommended by someone else here on this forum can for instance output 3A at 9V, which is precisely what my Ascent requires (and it also has USB outputs so it's versatile) It costed me practically nothing and was free shipping. I paid more to fill it with decent quality 18650 batteries...

I have both the Volcano and the Firefly and I still think the flavor of a fresh Volcano bowl has the best taste and aromatic qualities.
I never liked conduction vapes (Having MFLB and tried PAX) so I hope I don't mind the taste of the Crafty.
I would like a second portable to keep at a place I travel to by air, so am thinking of the Crafty then shipping it or the Firefly to myself out of town.

In my many years of smoking, aside from someone taking huge bong hits, my opinion is that a joint is the least stealthy way to go, with the constant sidestream smoke. If you're gonna smoke on the go, a small pipe with a 'capped bowl' is much less noticeable. We also make it a point here to promote vaping, not smoking.
If you think a post is in violation of the rules, then report it. Otherwise, you shouldn't be commenting on someone's behavior or posting style. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Roth's response and I read it twice. Your comment was out of line. Please leave the moderating to staff.
I've compared the vapor from a Volcano to vapor from a herbalAire many times and couldn't tell the difference. Bagged vapor is bagged vapor IMO.
There's nothing 'high tech' about producing vapor 'quality'.
