Crafty/Crafty+ by Storz & Bickel

Out to lunch
When you change the temp with the app, does it remain at that temp after it turns off / back on? Or does it revert to the default temperatures when it's turned on again?
You're changing the preset temps. Whatever you change them to are the new presets. The default settings are good ones, but I don't know why they didn't set it up for 3 settings instead of just 2.

So to get a Crafty I need a new phone...

Only if you want to use the app. Plenty of people will just use it with the default settings. OTOH playing with the various app options is an attraction, and besides price, is one reason I'm sure the Crafty will outsell the Mighty by a large margin.

Agreed completely. Plus the lack of a USB port on the Mighty is off-putting to me as well. The option of having a USB battery pack for many extra charges is quite nice. Those battery packs can hold a LOT of charge.

I'm just waiting to see a performance comparison between the Crafty and Mighty now. If the Crafty is indeed 27W instead of 10W, and can perform comparably to the Mighty, it will definitely be my choice.

When you turn the Crafty on it heats up to it's “base temperature” and if you press the button it goes up to it's “boast temperature.” Both temps are adjustable on the app and will be saved. But if you want to use any other temps besides your desired two temps then you need the app.

The app has a dial. It shows the temp your trying to adjust it to and it'll show you the actual tempterature rising just like the Mighty. And it shows your battery life. There is a pic of the app on Vape Critic's post.

Oh, so what I thought I understood and said was not entirely correct: the heating unit is almost definitely the same for both units, but the Mighty can draw a higher power from the battery, resulting in not entirely twice the battery life either. So question is as said if its 30 vs. 27W difference - or 30 vs 10, and what does this affect: only the time to heat up and between hits or the overall 'power', while technically working at the same effective °C/°F ?! So many questions, don't know what to buy. They should work on their communication. Hey, they should hire me.

Or? Maybe it's just semantics, but I view a vaporizer that can maintain it's dialed in temp during a hit and in-between hits as being more powerful than a vaporizer that can't.

A higher wattage vaporizer, depending on it's design, may be able to maintain that temp better than a lower wattage vaporizer, eh?

yes. ... well, it really depends on current, which is a factor in wattage.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
I'm interested in hearing/seeing results of their "stainless steel Liquid Pad that was developed for the vaporization of liquids and oils" in use with this

And $7.90 usd for a 4-pack sure doesn't hurt for once (I wonder what their dimensions are for some 'other' certain devices I have hmm ?)

Wow! with a bluetooth remote! My dad used to tell about a guy who designed an envelope opener that filled half a room. That was before miniaturization. Now it fits in the palm of your hand. I look at the MLFB and ...with an MFLB at $80 it's not a bad price on the Crafty, when I think of the space station's amount of technology in it. Now more than "do i need this" the question for the gadget-enamoured among us is whether it's reliable.

They do make some very sophisticated liquid pads. Stainless steel and they pull apart into something like a wire screen tube sock. It's one continuous wire! That conducts the heat very well. I've used a portion of one in both Solo and Firefly with excellent results. Best to pull it into its tube form and snip off a piece, then fold it back down. You'll see.

I look at the MFLB again and I'm torn between "excellent appropriate technology" and "Neanderthal". Or "Post-industrial".

But wait, this S&B is just a thermostat and a hot wire. The CPU that runs the heater curve has lots of spare cycles and I/O. Just because you package it like a Glock and put a Bluetooth chip in it doesn't make it THAT expensive .... Or does Hans in the labcoat come to your house when you over-vape and you can't operate your device?

@Osn Dosn it's probably a higher rated transistor running the hot wire. For the extra money you probably get a beefier device, you know, like Tiger tank.

How is this even legal? Is Apple going to approve this app outside CO and WA, if even there?

Well on android anyway the dopapps are numerous ... I'm waiting for speed-ball recipes.

The vapes instructions list the "only herbs" the crafty is meant to be used for. Weed is not on that list. The app also lists these herbs and gives vape temps.

So that's probably how they will be able to get the app on the apple store

I wanted to comment that the manuals show a power consumption of 36W and 10W respectively for charging ... these are not the wattage draws of the heating elements while running ... (which would vary based on temperature ...)

S&B got back to me this morning. There is no difference in terms of vapor output between the two models. Question answered :)

As for the specific power draw, the Crafty uses 27 watts and the Mighty uses 30 watts. Both of these figures were quoted as "capacity... when heating up the devices."

Charge time for each vape is approximately 2 hours. The Crafty draws 10 watts during charging, while the Mighty draws 36 watts. Due to the higher draw of the Mighty, it does not have USB because charging "will take too long."

So there we go, a few answers to some key questions.

Hearing this makes the Crafty more interesting to me. Thanks!

I think I'm just saving up for the Crafty now then ... won't be able to adjust the temps w/out finding a friend with an Android device though until the iPhone/iPad app comes out!

I wrote S&B asking if they have an estimate for the approval/release date of the iOS app. Hopefully it's soon! Holding onto my money until then.

It takes around 11 days for an app to be approved. This is only information I have found online.
I am also considering crafty now that I have seen the app. I just want to know how it compares to ascent so I'm waiting for a couple of reviews. And also what battery is like

The race is on ... we'll see whether a) I raise the money 1st, or b) the app is released 1st!
