Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

Aggressively Loungey
I've got an OG showerhead hydratube with no bottom chamber, and a swagger puck with bottom chamber.

The only time I get water in the bottom chamber is filling - never in use.

Never had any issues with the showehead overflowing, and it isn't something I've particularly worried about/tried to mitigate.

The OG tubes without the extra protection work great IMO. I do miss ice pinches though, you know, for vaporists that are actually responsible enough to use a delicate vaporizer and such.

Curious if anyone else has noticed the odour issue with their EVO? Has this been fixed by VXL? This is a huge concern for me and hasn't been discussed since it's been discussed a while back.

Still get the smell when inverted. Once my EVO has been on for about 20 minutes I can smell it as soon as I flip it upside down and it isn't very pleasant.

I am a bit concerned that I may be inhaling whatever is producing the odor and this has led to my 60B getting very little use. Other than that I have zero complaints.

What's up CloudHeads? Long time no post. Just wanted to chime in. Still have two Evo's, running as strong as ever. Plus two older VXC's, which although I haven't used in a long time, still function perfectly to the best of my knowledge.

I don't frequent the forms very often these days, but still vape as much as always. Cheers all, keep on vaping on.

yeah the smell is really worrying me, ive been using my evo for like 5 months and if i put my unit on max and flip it for a while i will get wafts of some electronic smells
i feel like this is something @stonemonkey55 that needs to be addressed or at least explained(it may have been but i havent been able to find an official explanation). the reason i bought this vape wasnt for the clouds or the rips it was because in my opinion it seemed to be the safest to use. That is still the most important factor for me while choosing which vaporizer to use.

Baked & Fried
I had one of those EVO moments earlier, where you don't realize how baked you are.. This time I was power hitting the EVO just before running out the door.. Well, by the 3'rd ELB I hadn't realized I had even emptied the last load and had already reloaded the next one.. It was sitting in the EVO just ready to go.. So, thinking I was on my last hit of the ELB, I immediately see this super dense vapor start forming right away, and freak out thinking I combusted, so I tried to pull out as quick as I could but it was too late  :D.. although when I went to clear the glass, I found it was all fresh vapor.. It was just a fresh ELB playing a trick on me .. My heart literally sank when I though I combusted, because that would have been the first time w/ the EVO, and it would have meant that it happened at my normal setting :tinfoil: :uhoh: which I know to be far from being close to combusting, while still extracting like a beast! But yeah, freaked me out good for a split second that felt like a minute

@Cillerix It was addressed and explained in this thread for a couple or few pages I do believe, but then got buried. SM55 mentioned that he was considering drilling a hole in the bottom to help vent better, and in the International EVO thread he just yesterday stated that they are cleaning the casings better, and watching out for more debri that could get into the assembly during manufacturing. If you are concerned about safety, according to the company you should not be, but safety or not - it is unusable IMO the way it is. VXL is always willing to take a look at yours and maybe fix the stink. I went back to using my Cloud+, and if you really don't want any electronics, take a look at the E-Nano!

That just happened...
Just don't flip it. Duh... :D

I know marketing wants it to be able to be used in any orientation but I believe engineering meant it to be used upright and was surprised when people started inverting it.

I get the smell when inverted as well but it seems to be inconsistent. When I do use my EVO inverted its at a 45 degree angle instead of completely vertical, this might have something to do with the inconsistency. I've always thought my Clouds performed better when upright than when inverted but that might all be in my head. I really need to get a whip adapter to compare.

However, both the HydraFoot 2.0 and the CloudBuddy are designed for inverted use. I got an odor just once, and I can't be 100% positive that it wasn't the shield. I iso'd the bamboo and it hasn't reoccurred. I have noticed though that, occasionally with a fresh load, if I leave the EVO inverted after the hit there is a small whisp of vapor that escapes up the bottom port. I presume that is just residual vapor in the ELB rising, which doesn't occur when it's upright (may be from a bit of back-pressure due to being inverted?). Other than a crack in the bamboo, I don't see how heated air/vapor can get into the electronics section of the unit. That said, inverted power hits with the unit set on high temp, or leaving the unit inverted in the joint, might cause heat to rise and transfer through the glass potentially affecting something close to the lower bamboo. Does anyone remember if there is insulation around the bamboo in the bottom section?

FWIW, I have a HF2.0 and use my evo inverted on a regular basis. I have NEVER smelled the electronic smell that I have seen described here over and over. I also NEVER leave it inverted on the HF2.0. I simply take a hit and set the evo back on the table upright.

I think OBG is smack on the money. It's way worse If it's sitting inverted for a protracted time period, with the ELB tasting awful. I think there are wires down there that normally have a cooler bamboo, and when it heats up, the insulation on the wire may off gas.

Interestingly I used an old cloud+ with HALF a bamboo (top half intact) without a single odour, combustion, or any other issue for nearly a year before it crapped out.

Have you ever sent your EVO in to be checked out? What you describe is definitely different then what I observe with mine. I ONLY use the EVO inverted (unless using a VXNail with adapter), and have no issues with an odor. If I leave the unit inverted for 15+ seconds, I can start to smell a faint odor. But it's not that strong.

While hitting the EVO inverted, I have NEVER had a smell or taste interfere with the wonderful aromas and tastes of the bud.

Perhaps you have a dirty EVO, or defective in some way (wires touching bamboo, who knows)?

Try leaving it inverted a lot longer, like minutes...with a loaded ELB. I don't think the odour is probably any worse than many others out there - I'm sure they vary in intensity.

The electronics smell has been a problem with some units since the first ticker models. My OG ticker will still stink up the room if inverted for too long. The issue has been bought up many times in this thread and the old cloud thread but still no answer on what the problem is.

Now I just invert mine to take the hit and then immediately put it back. I will admit I don't use my Cloud as much now though because of the issue and I promised myself I wouldn't buy an EVO until the issue was resolved. I still wish VXH would figure it out to take away some of our concerns.

Edit*

Just to be clear, I love my cloud and the satisfying hits it gives. I just wish the smell issue could be resolved for good, it really seems to be the only downfall to this vape.

Negative, just babysitting it for now, as it's not mine.

Wait, so this whole time you've been complaining about the EVO having a VERY noticeable and unpleasant smell, so much so that it affects your hits and you don't enjoy using it...and you never sent it in?

I've seen SM55 personally offer to take a look at it for you.

What you describe seems to be different from the VAST majority of other people in this thread. It is VERY possible that something is wrong with your EVO. Yet instead of sending it in to get checked out, you hold onto it and continue to complain about it?

Defects happen, it's an unfortunate reality.

Send the EVO in, just talk to whomever owns it. Why would they mind that they might get their vaporizer fixed?

I'll have to find the post that SM55 made, but I believe a large portion of the smell was attributed to oils from the assembler's skin, and other possible debris. There was a range of smell intensities that were produced in their test units, with many not having any smell until inverted for 10+ minutes.

Further steps have been taken in assembly to maintain the cleanliness of the bottom section.

FWIW, my Cloud+ has that smell and it's only inverted during my hit. I never leave it inverted. I brought the issue up and was quickly assured I was crazy.

Umm, what? "This whole time" "you've been complaining"? Dude, @lazylathe just dropped off his EVO recently for another testing, and i've noticed this time the same thing I noticed the last time I babysat it for a few months. That was a while ago, and @lazylathe never notices it...perhaps i'm alot more sensitive, but so are alot of other members on here.

I've seen SM55 personally offer to take a look at it for you.

So what's your point? They have a warranty, ofcourse they are obligated to. I'll leave that up to its owner.

Again, you are misconstruing something. I am not "continuing to complain".... I just brought it up because it got buried and I am not alone.

Send the EVO in, just talk to whomever owns it. Why would they mind that they might get their vaporizer fixed?

Because perhaps it isn't broken, and will come back the exact same way and be a complete waste of time and money?

lol, my Cloud+ also gets tiny bits of it from time to time, but even though I use the EVO the exact same way, there is no comparison. It's all good, this is my last post on the topic.
