Coconut oil....what went wrong?

Today I made my second batch of coconut oil. I made my first batch several weeks ago using trim, and a tiny amount of concentrate. I used a saucepan and kept the heat around 250 for about 90 minutes. It turned out quite well. Success.

But today I used about the same amount of plant material and tiny bit of concentrate. This time, I used a different brand of virgin coconut oil. I cooked it at 250 for about two hours. When I poured the mixture into a plastic measuring cup (to use to pour into a strainer into another container) the fluid melted the cup!

I drank about a teaspoon and a half of a tiny amount in a shot glass. Later, after it solidified, I consumed two more teaspoons (about the amount I successfully used of the first batch I made a few weeks earlier). Today's batch, however, was extremely LOW potency.

Not sure what I did wrong...or if just low potency plant material? I am thinking of getting a crock pot to better control temperature....any success with crock pots and coconut butter? I alternate various medibles at bedtime...and coconut oil goes down easier than eating a large object like a cookie or brownie. I also make an alcohol based tincture that usually turns out well...but burns to consume.
Thanks!

This recipe has never failed me. As I've posted on other threads, potency of the brownie is up to you, it calls for 5gs but I would use 9gs and cut the brownies into 9 pieces (so 1g per brownie). I think you're cooking at too high of a temp, try getting the oil to just barely sizzle.

In my experience, using the same amount, oil edibles came out better than butter, so I would use oil. I used coconut oil, however I did not use soy lecithin (if you read around some people say it works very well). My brownies always came out very potent, and if it's not potent enough, you can always increase ratios the next batch (or eat more that 1). I haven't tried cooking with concentrates yet, however my room mate does and he has some reclaim hes gonna use to make chocolates, apparently they're easy to make and very potent, so I'll let you know once I see how he does it.
