agreed, the glass straw is wonderful. and direct draw does preserve a little something that is lost with WTs. this is maybe my new favorite way to use the MV. flavor is preserved but the glass absorbs a lot of the heat!

So, what are you using as the splice sleeve between the glass sections? I only see the double ring glass mouthpiece on the Arizer site. Or are these different? Or older? Or am I stoned and confused?:smug:

it's three of the glass mouthpieces meant for balloons that shipped with my EQ when I got it back in 2010 or 2011... they each have three small rings. I don't see them on the Arizer website. I used pieces of some random whip I had lying around to connect everything. maybe a vapor bros whip?

I think the specific parts aren't as important as the principle. be creative and come up with something better :science:

With direct draw I feel too much feat on my tongue to enjoy the taste(even at low temps), I was thinking the MV is the only unit to taste better with water filtration, imho!

@kimura
Uses the mouthpieces for the whip.
I use the parts that were for balloons.
The parts I use are mot far off double the length of the other arizer glass. Both have the same bore though. I already have the smaller parts in use as a diy mating slide with my 18 to 14 reducer and a flexicone.

@PPN
This straw idea really does work to strip the vapour of its heat. And has opened up new avenues of use for this vapist. Plus I always taste more on the exhale.

@Rob21 check this out on the previous page. You could even have some fine guaze fitting in between the mated sections as your issue had been with debris getting up further than you'd like.

I think all the arizer parts are about to be snapped up by all the MVers out there that catch these last few pages. It works. It really works.

Wonder what a straw made of Eds MFLB wooden mouthpieces would add to the mix.. Other than looking cool as sh#t.

Almost there...
So i used the MV almost exclusively this long weekend, that says a lot!!
Herbie was still used but only bowl or two.

I ran the MV through about 5 full cycles till it shut itself off.
Since then it has been performing way better!! Had a bit of a break in period! LOL!

I am a bit confused by one thing and it is pretty big!!
How come tonight i filled the large basket, set the MV to green and had a 10 minute session of chain hits through my bubbler!! Awesome flavour and amazing clouds!!
Turned the MV off and had dinner, watched TV etc, etc...
Turned the MV back on to green and continue on the same basket!!
Still more flavour and clouds!!
Blueberry Kush has never tasted or lasted this long!!! Mind = Blown!!!

By this time i would have gone through about 4 bowls through Herbie, a session or two with the Nano and possibly the Cloud, Aromed or nail...

So down to one bowl?? Can this be??
I will pack a small one to take with to bed later but that is not much anyway.
Has anyone else noticed this?

I just hope the trend continues!
Oh and the other problem with the MV?
You just want to chain vape this thing for all the flavour!!

You are not alone friend. I found myself turning the unit off because I'm so medicated because the hits keep on coming longer than I can handle with the large basket. I've actually switched to the smaller Arizer basket because of this. Even that seems to go on for longer than it should. Convection vapes are where it's at.

Common problem this lol

Any one else notice their consumption has gone down? As a smoker I could get through an oz plus easy in a week, with the MV my consumption has easily halved if not more.

Before the Glass straw I'd have said I used less than with the solo. With the straw I use way less.. And seem to be more baked. It's like I can get more clouds without water.. More syrup like cough gunk on occasion though. Must be the stuff that catches up in my WT.

I've got a few questions. I've been reading along but I don't quite understand a few things.
1) What is the "smaller Arizer basket"? Where could I get one? I gather that there's a bigger basket included with the unit. I also gather that people prefer the baskets to make cleaning easier.
2) Do people put a screen on the top of the materials, to prevent drawing anything up through the mouthpiece? I know that some do that with the Solo.
3) If I'm understanding it correctly, the basket/material is only heated during a draw. Does this mean that the unit is fairly odor-free, except for the exhaled vapor? Could I leave unvaped material in the basket/unit, turn it off, and come back to it the next day ... without a lot of vapor/odor stinking up the joint (as it were)?

Thanks!

Hi,
1. these are from Vapor Nation.
I don't have them YET. One user said the rim is slightly bigger but it will still snap into the flexicone.
miniVAP has their baskets for sale but they're mighty proud of them = 4 small baskets for $35.
I think minVAP has two basket sizes, regular and small but mine came with just the regular.
2. Yes and no. It does need a screen on top so material isn't sucked into mouthpiece BUT the round screens they provide snap right into the flexicone (the soft silicone piece) and then the basket snaps into
the flexicone too.

3. The unit is very odor free. I'm a lightweight user so I often vape on the pink light (low temp) setting and then let it sit until the next day. virtually no odor.

As you mentioned, by using the wire baskets the unit stays remarkably clean

Thanks MinnBobber. Mighty helpful. I'm also a lightweight (but daily) user, so your info is especially applicable. I'm sure I'll follow up with more questions ... soon. Thanks again.

First photo is the Arizer basket on top of the Minivap version and the second photo is vice versa. Honestly, I see no discernible difference to the two and if there is any it makes no difference using with the flexicone.

I dug around my workshop and found a stash of 12 inch borosilicate tubes i bought for another project.
Remembered your post about glass straws and thought this would work perfectly!
I used the flexicone, first part of the hard mouth piece and a bit of silicone tubing to join that with the boro tube!
Extra 12 inches of cooling power!!

Works like the bomb but it is quite unwieldy, maybe i will cut it in half and see how that feels.
Definitely a very cool discovery!
What surprised me was that almost 6 inches of the boro tube was extremely hot!
This thing packs quite the punch!!

Superb. Yeah a foot of glass is sure to look a little unrefined. I find the stiff wobble of my version of the straw suits better. It'd be less likely to shatter I think too as the wobble would cushion a fall somewhat (I ain't gonna drop it to find out)
Also since its essentially 3 pieces, it'll be easier to maintain and collect reclaim.. And the binding bits of silicon tubing leaves a very small space between the glass tubes which stops direct heat transfer up the straw. Mines only gets real real hot on the first section, and that's even on red.

@Smknbud <<~ This is the man who first voiced the awesomeness that is the Glass Straw! Thanks bro!

The arizer basket is a teeny tiny bitty bigger. So marginal it's not worth mentioning really. Like bobber says, they still fit an absolute dream..

@headdoctor Welcome aboard.

Metal Liner. Worth it? Still ain't taken the plunge.

I just took the fattest hit of my life.. And absolutely no draw resistance, none !! I started on green with big baskets of lightweight bud to warm myself up. Then took the picture after the first hit.

I loaded another row, this time with the small baskets, with strong stuff, and on red. It's white thick, smooth and easy. The Y adapter is perfectly fitted, it's awesome and still remains convenient, no awkwardness at all !

VIDEO!!! Lol

That looks like a whole lotta fun Roger! I was looking into upgrading my glass but have barely used a WT since the glass straw. This pic gives me the hankering for some more sweet pieces.
On that note.. I was looking at alternatives for components for making a straw and there are many many options. Just scroll through the accessories part of and headshop site.. Think a small shopping spree of glass and wooden tubes is on the cards.
For instance a straw made of three of Eds 5000 years old bog oak MFLB stems would go lovely with my Black MV. I have one for my friended solo and whilst it doesn't have as striking a grain as some of the lighter woods still did the job.

Edit: Also there are many J Hooks available too.

My version. Those Honey Badgers look cool. I'd still say a more modular design is superior.. Easier to clean as it can be taken apart. Also if it falls then the shock should be absorbed by the wobble of the sections and were it to break then only one section would likely need replaced. Finally know how to share pics. Woohoo! I'll take many more tomorrow.

Edit: my silicon tubing is tygon 1/4-3/8 from US plastics. This stuff was recommended by @oldiebutgoodie way back on the EQ forum. It's perfectly flexible(you can fold it over on itself three times or so with a little work ), strong and holds glass very firmly.
I got 20 foot of the stuff back then and still have loads.

This damn vape continues to impress me!!
My usage has decreased and my highness/medicatedness has increased!

I am sad to say that i reach for the MV every night now and not Herbie...
For me the MV shines through water!!
If i can get the dry inhale to be as good this would be my ideal vape!

But this thing packs a serious punch!!
MK Ultra, small basket, light pack, Heat set to RED, HUGE clouds!!!
Massive dense and white!

Over and out!
:freak:

@biohacker I think you are really going to like the MV!!

@Roger D Thanks, now i am a fan of RED!!!

@lazylathe.. I get just as big clouds now from the straw than I do putting it through water. Having said that though, I've now found myself taking a more leisurely approach. I sip that thing rather than whack it on a bong and get maybe 3 to 4 rips. I feel vapor is always somewhat wasted the bigger clouds that I exhale.. I get way more fucked up off way less now.. Though do still whack it on the WT on occasion. Such a versatile little vape.. Anyone tried creating some kind of bag set up for this thing? Whilst both WT and direct draw are far more desirable imho it's always nice to have options.

I also feel vapor is being wasted if you exhale big clouds. CO is a long long way from MN so my meager CO stash needs to last a long long time. This technique will still get you to any level you want and I feel it is most efficient in conserving herbs.
I often will do pink and green temps on direct draw and switch to bubbler on red. Even on red with direct draw, doing 2 or 3 long pulls in a row, the 2" mouthpiece will get too hot to touch over halfway but the vapor is still ok (better thru the bubbler but still decent).
It just myself and sometimes my wife so I have no desire to do bags. I thought that even the longer tube mouthpiece taste wasn't as good so am not keen on the vapor sitting in a plastic bag. For group use I'd consider it.

Yeah I just like to mess around and think of stuff... Nightshift has that effect.. Uh huh
You could conceivably connect the MV to the Arizer EQ in some fashion. Utilising the forced air to blow through the MV pushing air through the heater. Of course this makes not a jot of sense since the EQ would be right there to blow a bag from.
Vapour quality could be different though.
Please disregard these as tired ass musings.. Still might try it at some point though. Shits n giggles.
@MinnBobber.... MN and CO?
