Crafty/Crafty+ by Storz & Bickel

At twice the price of the inh05, I doubt its twice as good.
I dont think that is true. Well atleast for international customers anyway. I filled in the order form for the INH05 and it comes to a total of $320.91 which includes a whopping $70.91 for standard shipping. WTF? I'm not defending the price point of the Crafty but it came to 299 Euros or $381.50usd. So $60 difference for the quality of S & B vs a company that has a lot of problems and a product that has not been fully realized before release. I just finished reading the entire INH05 thread with the intention of buying one but there were way too many problems and complaints for me.
Anyway, just trying to add a little perspective.

Ahhh, was geht, ein S&B portable ist plötzlich da, zu krass!!

Just been looking for a new portable to find my way back, was considering the INH05 too, as well as the Goboof, and now this, ugly as it is, but..excited and hooked. Probably it's gotta be this one / one of the two.

If it doesn't slip through the customs the INH05 would cost me 320€ shipped - the Crafty is 300, so..
And this is also just 3 beer crates more than an Accent costs over here fe

You might be right, it seems there are inconsistencies with the inh05. Maybe I got a good one. I don't know.
The inhalator definitely isn't worth 320$ though. You are right about that. It doesn't scream quality, each unit probably cost them very little to produce (in comparison with the crafty). I still love it, and it performs so well I use it almost exclusively, but I paid 170$ (indiegogo) and think that's a fair price. I think 250$ is too much for it, but then again I think most vaporizers are overpriced.

How will it connect to water? Adapting the mouthpiece with hose maybe?

The heat ports look far enough away from the walls of the chamber for a stem to be made from glass or wood.

Nice unit bit bulky, definitely aimed at medical folks imo, drop proof etc,you can see the solo was an influence.

Iolite and solo had a baby:)

Last questions

How long will the battery take to charge and how many sessions on a charge?

Thanks in advance:tup:

Some good info here about how the units are different and specific information about them. It seems to me the Mighty would have a much longer battery life if that is important to you. The highest possible temp is 410f on both models.

edit- forgot to mention I have already received shipping notice. Hopefully that German postal system is fast!

sry for the short review but i was mad busy today here ya go

I'll do another more in-depth review tomorrow. Shipping was incredibly fast! So far I'm liking it a lot! Pros: Longer battery life than the Firefly, quality and flavor of vapor on par with that of the Solo and Firefly IMO, The filling tool is supper handy for quick refilling, Can be used while its charging! Cons: Temp can only be adjusted using the Crafty phone app, oven size smaller than pax which i felt was on the small side. (I am a long time owner and fan of the Volcano)

I don't think having to use an app to adjust the temp will be a deal breaker for most people. Definitely not for me anyway. It's kind of silly that they'd do it this way but the reality is most people in 2014 have a smart phone in their pocket or within arms reach 100% of the time and pulling it out and opening an app isn't a big deal or even a hassle. I'm sure there will be one or two people that don't buy it because they still have flip phones but I'd say they're the incredibly small minority.

It might be possible to program more options to the app in the feature. Not counting on it, but as I have seen on many other devices with control app, they usual can be upgraded and modified. This could be a nice add for the Crafty if sometime in the future someone or even Storz and Bickel themselves added features to the app.

The whole reason for this is that they wanted to keep it as small as possible, and with the display and temp control it would be too close to the mighty. Which is besides that just twice the battery life, technically they're identical. (Which is why I wouldnt split the threads). Info taken from their website. German version is more elaborate by now..

Hey man, thanks for the early review and I'm looking forward to your more in-depth review. I'm glad to hear you can use it while it's charging, thats a big plus. I was wondering if you plugged the Crafty into your laptop or PC with the USB cord, are you able to adjust the temperature on there? If you have the Pax, can you take a few close up pics of them next to each other?

It would be cool if you talked about the differences and similarities of the Crafty and Mighty with Elmomuzz. I know a lot of us are wondering about how the heat up time, battery life and performance differ.

Well this Vape looks very interesting.

After swapping and trying out so many of them, I finally settled on the Solo for its efficiency, great battery life, and ease of use.

Could this be the one that replaces my Solo?!

This is simply false. According to the first article I found by searching "percentage of smartphone users 2014" >> Nearly two-fifths of all mobile phone users—close to one-quarter of the worldwide population

...and that's only a projection. In my book 1/4 of the population is not "most people", sorry to nitpick.

Not technically identical... The Crafty draws 10 watts of power, while the Mighty draws 36 watts. That's a big difference in power. I would guess that translates to somewhat different performance, but only time will tell as reviews of both start coming out.

My guess would be that most people who can afford this vape probably have a smartphone

Not so sure about this. I know plenty of people who don't have smartphones but do have large disposable incomes. But hey, I guess that just forces them to get the Mighty if they want a S&B portable! It'd be nice if the Crafty's app could run on any computer, rather than just on iOS or Android.

I saw someone state these numbers earlier, but not sure where they came from. Not saying you're wrong, just trying to get the right info.

http://www.storz-bickel.com/shop_us/en/storz-bickel-vaporizer/

That link shows a chart comparing all of S&B's vaporizers. They list the Crafty at 27W, and the Mighty at 30W.

The link also says the bowl's capacity, in both the Crafty and Mighty, is 1.4 cm3

Really curious to see how the two units compare. If the chart is to be believed, they might not be that different in terms of vapor output. The main difference might be the battery life, and the increased temperature control with the Mighty.

Interesting. The numbers I got are directly out of the manuals for each vape which are also available on the S&B website. Looks like S&B has some contradictory information on their site then. Similar to the ""full convection hot air/convection heating combined with conduction" contradiction.

Very interesting indeed! Wonder what the correct values are. If I had to guess, I'd put my money on the manual numbers, but that's just based on a gut feeling!

I hope your chart is correct. The size of the Mighty is a deal breaker for me. But I also saw the power difference as a deal breaker for the Crafty. If the two are as similar as stated on the chart you found, then I may pull the trigger on the Crafty. I'm going to contact S&B and hopefully clear this up.
