Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

To me it seemed as if both the break on the above, and the break on my 7-day old Puk look extremely thin-wall: I questioned it, but I didn't want to be an asshole about it on the Puk. I was just lifting it off the foot, and I did something wrong. It looks potato-chip thin. I sent photo to VapeXhale. I even tried to see if Swagger would repair it for me, (if it were repairable), but they never returned my query. I figure somewhere down the road I'll meet someone who'll give it a try. Life isn't all win, win, win. Sometimes we lose.

I have added a piece of equipment to my lab, the Leviton LT112-10W 1000-Watt Advanced Digital Plug-In Timer with Grounded Plug and Receptacle . . .

Easy to program, no internet or recipes. I programmed it to turn on at the top (00:00) of every hour and off at the (00:59) minute mark, so it power cycles once each hour and is off one minute per hour, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I am now free at last from power cycling my EVO. . . :)

That just happened...
Somewhere along the line the Wemo gained the ability to be programmed like a timer via the app. It was painful setting it up but works well. It no longer requires internet to keep my cloud humming.

I like the timer you got though.

Thought I'd pop in and tell you guys about something random I did when I was baked the other day...

My VXN just sit's around all the time, so I decided to try and use it upside down on a nylon UD NonG and hit it w/ a torch through the slit, like you would w/ the Daisy and it totally vaped... then combusted real quick at the end   I was using one of those creme brule torches though, so it was for sure total overkill.. I bet a little Honest Torch would work out fine though.. It didn't even really seal up at all but it still worked... a little too good

I ended up combusting 2 more times w/ different stems and vapes.. back to back to back..
:bang::bang::bang: I guess I was on a roll .. So, since my glass was thoroughly shit flavored, I just packed up all my stuff and called it a night :cuss:

Anyways, The EVO wasn't involved in any of the combustion, but I figured I'd post about it in here since I was using the VXN... I'm gonna toy w/ it again some time w/ a more reasonable sized torch, but I don't own any small ones ATM..

So tell me if i'm crazy, but wouldn't it be awesome if instead of a pump assisting to vape using a tank of oxygen instead? I know too much is bad for you but i'm sure an oxygen sesh or two a day wouldn't kill you. just thought this would be a pretty badass way to vape.

unless you actually have the herb combust. ... and with the extra oxygen. ... boom.

I wouldn't risk it
alright good point, but I still feel that this could work as long as you keep the evo below 3, i've never combust, and i've never vaped above 3.

Haven't you ever seen chronic smokers smoking while on oxygen? I have.. and I've actually done it before myself some number of years ago.. Every one else was doing it, so I figured.... "what the hell?! :D they aren't exploding, let me see if I don't".. Obviously it wasn't pure oxygen!! But I'm not gonna recommend it still, because for all I know there could be different mixtures of medical grade oxygen tanks, and maybe the one we had wasn't as much of a risk while others might be ?? I have no idea.. I was initially very concerned when I saw it happening around me, and I refused to be in the room for a while.. but when no one was exploding, I went back in and then some one held a flame right up to the live air hose to show me nothing happened, so I stopped worrying.. I know it sounds like a weird scenario.. We were on strong acid if that makes it make any more sense

I have a question for all you HT owners out there...

How often do you find water makes its way into that bottom chamber? you know, that 2nd line of defense for leakage.. If you didn't have that 2nd line of defense, would you be paranoid about it possibly killing your bamboo one day?

Besides the combustion risk already noted, a pump would push the airflow (like the herbalaire does) while oxygen from a tank just flows out without any force and so you would have to hit the piece as usual.

Doesn't this vary from one piece to the next? I use the HydraLine, and maybe it's the sole exception, but the only way to get water down around the joint is to keep adding ice w/o emptying it a bit. IIRC my old Circ was easier to get water down below. Is the water loading in the Swaggers all the same?

I have a straight, ice-pinch piece I seldom use for that very reason. StoneMonkey mentioned they no longer make ice-pinch models that can flood the bamboo due to customers' sad stories.

However, if you use the ice-pinch HTs with the HydraFoot 2.0, there is no problem as the overflow would just go into the Foot's bubbler.

Other than that, it seems to me that some moisture collects: I don't know why - someone once explained it, but I forget. Shirley, it is not condensation.

I like the HF2.0 but there's No Way I can justify buying it, personally..
My concern is.. Do you often, or ever, find that Any water makes it's way into that bottom back-up reservoir during normal (Non-Ice) use?? I'd like some reassurance, because I may be receiving one w/o that 2nd line of defense in the near future..

Since each piece of glass is custom-made, a bad one could have gotten through quality control. I can say, of my 4 still working non-ice HTs, not one gives me trouble, but yeah, a little moisture collects, just not in any significant way.

Swagger Side tree here and after extensive use I've yet to get any water in the bottom chamber. I used my OG Cloud with a Vaporblunt Water Tool that doesn't have the second chamber and NEVER had any water go into my bamboo. Just can't give it to newbies that might end up blowing into the tube. I don't think my side tree holds enough water to leak out of the second chamber if I purposely blew into the tube. I can't speak for the high volume HT's.

Thanks @z9!! That is Exactly the reassurance I was hoping for!! This HT would hold about 2x the water as a normal one, but ~half would be unused since it all sits below the perc, where the 2nd overflow chamber would normally be.. That does make me feel better to hear it straight like that.. especially since you own one of those VB tubes, it's practically the same design in the sense it has no overflow protection..

I already had a very close call and flooded my fully heated bamboo just after I first got my EVO and got seriously lucky , and I'm not counting on having that luck twice if something like that ever happened again :tinfoil:.. BTW it wasn't from blow back.. It's actually a really weird situation to explain exactly how it happened, or I'd try.. I was totally baffled about it for a while, I couldn't make any sense of how it happened... I walked away w/ a fresh ELB and the HT (GBD Frit, also w/ no over flow chamber) sitting on top, and came back a few mins later to a steaming bamboo.. I think the load in the ELB slowed the flow of water enough to warm it enough to not shock the glass?? that's my theory.. the water was running though the bamboo like slow drip coffee.. I'm pretty sure I know how that water managed to make it's way in there though.. and of course it was my fault :ko:

Damn you, party liquor
I think the hydrastand and negative pressure are the culprits in my case for water in the bottom of my HTs. My sidecirc when on the stand has different waterlevels due to no air being able to be pushed out when put on the stand, so when I lift off the HT from the stand that change in pressure may cause a little to work its way to the bottom. If I don't lift it off and on a whole lot there won't be any water below so I'm pretty sure it's not a slow leak. Luckily I don't think either my side circ or my shower cap hold enough water to even fill up the bottom chamber enough to overflow. I can see how ice melt would be a problem for sure though.

Both my side circ and shower cap would get a little water in the back up reservoir. Without that I'm sure the glass would have been shocked and busted.

I actually broke my evo from the glass breaking from water contact when on. Wasn't using the hydro tube. Was taking apart "Frankenstein".

Frank doesn't get to use the evo anymore and I now have a hydrafoot 2.0.

:\ I guess I'll just have to take the chance and see how it operates, or maybe just pass on it :(
 :hmm: I guess now that I think about it more, I'd be removing the tube to clear anyway, and I could just get into the habit of keeping an eye on it.. It's not a big deal I guess, nothing I can't work w/ now that I think about it a little more.. I for sure don't wanna get any water in my bamboo like that again.. Not a drop! :uhoh:

Thanks for the replies you all

The hydrafoot (the little one, not 2.0) can do this even with the HydraLine. I wasn't paying attention the other night and lifted the HL only to have a backflow send the water down and through the joint. I like ice, but it does require monitoring and the stand can fool you. I've been using the HL atop the HF 2.0 and that eliminates any risk, but of course then the action is different.

I have the Side-Tree HT.

It may just be due to my clumsiness, but I do occasionally get a bit of water in the bottom chamber. It seems to mostly happen when I fill the tube from the sink and hold it at a particular angle. If I hold it at a totally straight 90 degree angle, no water (minus a few tiny drops) gets in the bottom.

It hasn't seemed to cause me any issues. I personally would not buy a HT with absolutely no bottom chamber, though.
