The pax is 100% conduction, so this should taste better, and ideally use less bud, but the volcano is a huge bud hog. I ended up selling mine (just didn't need bags) but the quality is undeniably there with things rolled out by them. The volcano is built like a fine german automobile. In the end I found better home vapes for me personally, but with quality like that its worth seeing their portable that they engineered for quite some time. Hopefully it lives up to what I have built up in my head.

It'll be tough to wait, but the price point makes it a lot easier.

Ur right about the pax, I guess it just heats up the metal chamber.

I wonder how s&b has figured out how to cool the vapir down before it hits our lungs?

I hope this is finally the perfect portable. Can't wait for reviews!

Okay so I received my tracking info on my crafty today its going to be delivered tomorrow! Here is the problem, it seems that the app is not available for iphone yet. I assume there will be software for pc or mac that will allow me to set the operating temp through the bluetooth on my comp. I also noticed that the unit is pictured with a european style plug on the sale page. I will update y'all tomorrow but I may not even be able to use the damn thing grr!

here is a link to the manual http://www.storz-bickel.com/media/wysiwyg/CRAFTY-MIGHTY/PDF/crafty-vaporizer-instructions-manual.pdf

Thanks @DREWTZ22 That is pretty impressive for a vaporizer. I just printed the manual and it was a whopping 35 pages!! Well at least I have something to entertain myself with while I await delivery :)

About the app that is a very good question. I would try to reach out to S&B's customer service and see if they can help.

Great Scott!
Nothing anyone can do. Closed nature of the apple ecosystem. For android not only will it be on the store easily, but it can be installed through an APK that can be emailed even.

For ios it has to go through an Apple approval process that can take from a week to forever, and it can be denied for a whole list of reasons (including being called "inappropriate"). If you have any friends with android you can at least set the temp for now, while you wait for Apple to (hopefully) approve the app release.

Looks like your the first person in the world to download it. I'm #2. No unit ordered yet. Just checking it out.

Looks like there is a feature in the app telling the devices operating times? Called hours of operation under device. The app looks pretty well put together.

I'm super excited to be honest. As I mentioned I lost my vape lab this week and have been forced to move all my equipment into the living room. No big deal but my wife is pretty sensitive to the smell of cannabis and I have neighbors that concern me. So all week I am been imagining myself with some incredible, stylish and powerful portable when I need to be elsewhere. Of course I am just guessing with this one but I think the company has a very good track record. I am hoping that the chamber has a large capacity to be honest as if I ever take a portable out with me I like to pre-pack and that will do me for the day. I've been researching and I not convinced that the Haze, Indica Noir or the INH05 would definitively be superior to the Solo. My gripe with the Solo is that it takes a long time to finish a stem and its lack of genuine portability/stealth. Other than that I love the Solo so I am really hoping this is the one! I do feel confident that if I must be an early adopter that S&B will be releasing this unit in a fully realized state.

It would have been nice to be able to have prepacked "cans" or chambers, like the Haze. The manual seems to really point out the bowl gets hot and shouldn't be touched unless completely cool.

Maybe some sort of mini basket type can fit in there?

You have more devices than i!

I use the SOLO the most!
For me it's a medical reason.

Let me know how you like your next vaporizer?

I sure will. I have too much junk. I'm going to get rid of some stuff soon and just keep what I use. That's what I do with my clothes. I don't wear it then its gone. As good as this device may be, as you often say, "Cannabis is the Holy Grail". :) :) :)

I am a proud owner of the same volcano going on 7 years now of daily use, so storz and Bickel are obviously my favorite.

I have wAited forever for their handheld and my first impression is not so good. It sounds like it's the exact same machine as a pax. The fact that you have to pack the bowl full just like the pax. Same mechanism of drawing hot air thru weed(convection, which is great but hasn't been perfected portably).

But I hate packing my volcano bowl full, I have always just placed a pinch in the chamber and it's the perfect vapir.

I had a pax(I gave it away to a friend) and was disappointed with the thick(burnt tasting) vapir that came with packing it full. And it would not get any vapir if I didn't pack it full.

I hope this isn't the same as the pax, I just want a portable volcano.

Aldo I've never used the oil pad in my volcano, loose leaf works perfect

With the pax theres a screen trick that allows less than a full oven.. Looking at the concentrate pad.. It could easily provide the similar screen and perhaps help roast the flowers a bit further

According to the manual these vapes have an auto-shutoff that kicks in "one minute after the last press of a button or the last application." That is an awfully short auto-shutoff. I guess you have to make sure you hit the thing constantly or you'll have to keep turning it back on. What an annoyance.

I didn't see that. This reminds me of the Plenty in a bad way. Besides it's oven being a bit too large, it's auto-shut off was the only other problem, but it was annoying as hell. A minute is actually a step up from the Plenty's immediate shut-down. Smh

The s&b grinder is a total beast, yeah its acryllic but it fluffs up herb way better than any metal/space case grinder IMO, its those pyramid shaped teeth.

Meh, at this point I think s&b don't make that good stuff, I like the 'cano but my friend has a plenty and I've always struggled to get it to hit remotely as hard as my DBV.

Looking forward to seeing what people say about these though.

I know a lot of people have complaints about the Plenty. I also think that a lot of people that are critical of the Plenty may not have tried it themselves but are repeating what they have heard from others such as its lack of efficiency, auto-shutoff and its "ugliness".
Just read their instruction manual. It clearly states that the chamber should be totally full but if not, to use one of their pads as a spacer because if you don't, bud will go flying all over the place inside and will not vaporize. Sounds like the exact same issue as the Ascent has, eh?
I havnt used an Ascent but that is how the chamber of the Plenty functions as well. A lot of people dislike the pads but I always thought it was fine and no hassle. I would imagine these new units should be able to handle loads of varying fullness.

Very expensive for my poor pocket but has anybody else noticed they both use convection?

And on the next pic I notice that the incoming hot air holes in the bowl seem quite larger than the Firefly's… It looks promising to me if that is so… More open airflow! We will know in a couple or days I guess…

That bullet point on "Full Convection Hot Air" is a bit misleading because if you read a bit further down in the description, S&B states that it is a combination of convection and conduction and they way the description reads, it implies that it's a 50/50 hybrid. Nothing necessary wrong with that, but it appears that it's not primarily a convection based vape like the subhead above implies.

I'm sure this vapes great, but my need for a $470 portable flower vape is non existant at this point. I know the cost of a volcano was easily justified as the resale value was very good. Can't say the same for the plenty, no one is selling used units, either not many people have one or the few that do love them.

Awaiting the early reviews and hoping it vapes 4x better than a $120 solo from ebay (good luck).
