The Lotus Vaporizer

Hello everyone,

I'm very interested in the Lotus since I've haven't heard one bad word about it.
There's only one thing that concerns me. The metal plate in top of the cap is made out of nickel.
I contacted Medocino and they told me that tests proved that the air doesn't contain more nickel than regular air on the high end.
My girlfriend has a nickel allergy though, so she can't even wear most earrings (most of them apparently are made out of nickel).
Does anyone with a nickel allergy own the Lotus or another vaporizer with nickel parts?

I would appreciate any experience/knowledge on this topic since I'm still a little concerned because I don't really know much about nickel allergies or allergies in general except that herb is also supposed to anti allergenic (even nickel allergies - maybe the effects neutralize each other :science:)

Hmmm I'd buy a lotus for You & a vapman for you're girlfriend..that way you'll be sure she's not going to get even subtly affected by nickel using the lotus.

my wife has a nickel allergy too and allergies to dairy and gluten and more too.the nickel content in the lotus concerned me too...but she mainly enjoys edibles these days.

It's good you are thinking of her and asking questions.nice to read:)

Recived today my lotus... is it normal that the screen in the stem is bent... when i am looking to pics of the stem in the internet it seems to be flat... and are the scrrens made to change them out or do you just have to stoke the stem with screen in iso alcohol..

yes it is normal for the screen to be a little bit bent, and it doesnt show much in the pics...

also.. i think the screens are meant to be cleaned occasionally... (especially the fine one)... soaking the whole stem would work i suppose, but i think it is easier to clean when removed... to remove the screen from the alum stem, i remove the screw from the stem and push the screen , using a bent pipe-cleaning wire, through the hole.

About cleaning and removing the screen : I'm just using a tooth pick or a needle so you can catch the tip between screen's wires and just pull it out.
I remember Max Jitter @Lotus telling we shouldn't unscrew the stem. I was asking about removing it for cleaning purpose but you really don't need that much !
Alcohol soaking / "brushing" / watering / drying. This can take 5minute chron if I'm in a hurry.

i cant imagine why not to remove the screw from the stem, when cleaning it :hmm: (and dont remember reading anything like that)

ps. might it be that you are talking about this post?
Don't try to take the bowl out. It will void the warranty and you'll wreck it. It's pressed into the stem, not screwed in. Pliers and wrenches will bend the bowl. You could pull it out using a lathe or mill but it would still void the warranty. Or am I too late?

Don't fuck with allergies IMO.

Yeah, you're probably right. I won't risk it. I don't want anything bad to happen because I wasn't careful enough.

Dude!! Are you me!? My girlfriend has the same stuff and more, too! :o
This would have been really cool to read if I had been medicated.
Note to self: Get medicated more often
Maybe my girlfriend enjoys edibles too, haven't really tried that with her. :)
Has your girlfriend ever tried the Lotus?

The Lotus and Vapman would be nice but I can't afford both of them right now.
Anyways, thanks for sharing your experience!!:tup:

My VAS is through the roof these days while I sold my FF and waiting for an Indica to fill the stealth spectrum of my vaping! And then the Crafty appears out of nowhere and makes my brain spin and VAS gets in the red zone…
I need to keep reminding myself that no matter how good those battery vapes work and look, they shall never (or at least in the near future before nuclear batteries come in play) be able to give me the ultimate control during a hit that the Lotus does nor can hit as strong as it does! 25C to 250C in less than 3 secs!!! Yeah baby!!!

I picked up one of these in the classifieds (as I've been looking at them for a while :)) ... haven't tried the WPA yet but I've been using with the stock long stem, and I gotta' say ... I'm quite impressed! (by far the best flame powered vape I've owned ... does a really good job, taste is great, cools the vapor well, provides a nice quick session with big hits)

Not overly stealthy but I can definitely see this filling a niche for me (and would be especially good on camping trips, at the shack, ice fishing, etc.)

$17 is less than the retail rate ($17.80) for what a large flat-rate box costs to priority mail in the usa; if it's for the full kit this size box (provided free from usps) could be needed for packing materials which also co$t. $17 is actually about right to pack and mail a medium sized flat-rate priority box in the usa.

I have owned my lotus for over a year and no matter how many other vapes I get mainly battery ones I still use it everyday . I have just ordered two replacement plates (the new style) one of them cool little scoops and a little shot glass for cleaning the ALU pipe . I live in the UK and I can only get the basic kit and WPA which I have but I also purchased the j hook which I like a lot .

I have a small question the black paint is coming off around the edges of the cap ,can I just use any water based paints to repair or is there some special paint they use ?, i might get myself another kit with the natural cap aswell soon just to complete my collection .

Happy vaping everyone

Hi, I tried to do a couple of searches but couldn't find anything. I just got my lotus 2 days ago and I am really loving it. With the WPA it hits harder than my DBV and is really fun to toke, not to mention that I've really enjoyed going outside and vaping.
However my current glass piece has a dewaar joint and the lotus doesn't sit flush because of the long pin coming down the back of it.
I was wondering if anyone has removed it? And if so were there any complications and is it easy to do?

Thanks everyone in this thread for convincing me to buy this excellent piece of kit.

It's a 14mm joint, right? Bad luck… I am sure you can remove the pin, just pull with an appropriate tool. Mine has come off in the past and had to glue it back in. Another solution so as not to lose the nice stirring pin, would be to get a 14/18mm expander and combine it with an 18/14mm reducer and fit the Lotus cap in the reducer. If your glass has enough clearance that is, so you can still see the raised cap while torching it. Any pics maybe?
Glad you are enjoying this excellent vaporizer. Everybody should have one in their collection. Welcome to the club!:D

I had that issue with my D020 - I had to bend my stick to make it fit - though nowadays I only use glass that fits my replacement cap with an unbent pin

treeman - If you use your pin to bleed your lighter it will superfreeze and the bond between the pin and the cap will weaken. At least mine did.

does it just slip out after you do that? I never use the pin and I was thinking about how to get it out too

Me too since March I've got a solo, pnp, 2 x Lotus, flowermate V5 and now a plenty.

Thankfully the flowermate has reduced my need for any other portables.

Out of all of them the lotus is the one I'd miss the most good job I have a spare:tup:
