Just got my first MFLB a few weeks ago.
Overall I am impressed.
This is the first portable I have ever seen/used.
I like how portable and stealthy it is.
I bought a cheep walmart coffee grinder and that was a great move.
Cons, I have 4 batteries and I think 2 are duds. Get really hot charging and don't work that long.

I would buy this thing again!

sweet, just heard back from magic flight! If anyone has a unit that just doesent run up to par as it did when you first got it or if its not producing vapor within 2 seconds I highly recommend contacting magic flight personally. They will ship you a brand new unit and restore your faith! Unit should be here in a day or 2

Hi guys. I picked up the MFLB a few days ago (and love it). I just have a question regarding the battery. I just don't know how to tell when they're finally charged. All I see when they're charging, is a still red light. That's it. No blinking. If they're empty, the charger will show the same "still red light". After hours of charging, the same "still red light".

If you're prepared to spend a little bit more on the MFLB, you cannot go past the Energizer Smart Recharger. It has never taken longer than 4 hours to charge my batteries on this, there's a few built in safety features, it comes with a bright display that clearly tells you how long it'll take to charge, and it even comes with its own set of (craptacular) 1400mAh batteries that can be used for things other than vaping!

All I see when they're charging, is a still red light. That's it. No blinking. If they're empty, the charger will show the same "still red light". After hours of charging, the same "still red light". So my question is:

How can you tell when the batteries are fully charged or empty? Is there away to know using the charger?
There's something wrong with your charger or the batts. When I first put the batts in the lights go green and instantly go red until 4 or so hours pass and then the lights go green to show the batts are fully charged. You should contact the seller or the manufacturer.

I've had the MFLB a few months now and it was my first vape. Still love it but maybe someone can suggest a fix to a few things to improve the experience.....

The first is having to dump the trench after the first draw on a new trench to stop it from sticking to the bottom. Sometimes I have to do it again on the second draw too. I do a two step grind and dry. I use a regular grinder and allow that to dry out for a day or two. Then I re-grind to a salt, almost powder like consistency using a very fine sifting screen and let that dry for a day or two as well. Am I grinding to finely? I can't get it any dryer and I've even stored it in a air-tight container with a desiccant pouch from an aspirin bottle.

The second is the amount of black/goo like build up around the two trench bars. We're not talking about a little build up like I've seen in some pics. In the old days I would probably scrape it off and smoke it when times get tough and I might just anyway if I could figure out how to get it off without damaging the screen.

Maybe the two things I mentioned above are due to how fine I'm grinding and drying the herb but I thought the finer and dryer the better.

Even with the above ... The MFLB is like an American Express card....Don't leave home without it! My wife and I were sitting on a bench at a beach boardwalk minding our own business 'launching' away when my wife realized that a policeman had been behind us having a snack maybe 20 yards away. Can't beat the box for situations like that.

My stuff occasionally gets 'clumpy' after the first trench, not entirely sure why. A regrind afterwards seems to always do the trick but that can be a bit of a hassle.

With the black edges - or any cleaning for that matter - isopropyl and a q-tip works a treat. I had build-up for a while before realising I needed to give it more than a cursory cleaning. Don't be rough but do clean it thoroughly. Also make sure not to get any iso on the wood.

Assuming you meant 'hit' not 'trench' (which would be 1/8 gram or so, good for many hits before replacement) it sounds like you're bud isn't well enough cured. It's too wet. It should not stick like that. And it also should not be fouling the box with the speed and levels you indicate.

Keeping it dry and fine ground, batteries fresh and shaking well between hits and otherwise using good technique you should go many, many grams without cleaning issues. Extra moisture causes most of the fouling.

Good luck with it. But sticking to top shelf, dried well, ground fine, filling under the rails and shaking should keep you humming along.

Yeah I meant hit, not trench. It didn't make my box that dirty, but I was just extrapolating from my experience to suggest an idea for @His_Highness. I'm pretty sure that my bud was not that well cured which explains the clumping. The best advice is to obviously get better quality stuff but if that's not a possibility for the time being then the only solution I've found is to do a quick regrind, no matter how finely it's been ground beforehand, or shaken afterwards.

OF - You said 'filling under the rails' ... I fill it to the rim of the trench which is about rail level. I'll try staying under the rails and see if that cures the caked up rails.

I've heard the term 'cured' before. I always assumed it meant to remove moisture without damage.

By all means do, it might not stop it cold, but it will cut it back some.

Yep. My understand that's exactly the idea, the slow drying out. Done right it can lock the good stuff in nice and tidy for our later enjoyment. Same deal with tobacco I think? If you're going to error, I suggest on the dry side, it really does make a big difference. There used to be a MF guy around here that pointed it out to us. He was specifically talking about deposits under the screen IIRC. Vitolo made the connection which was confirmed from 'them'. The MF guy was also pushing the 'don't scrape the rails, even 'gently'. Since then it's become part of LB lore, passed around the campfire on warm evenings........

I think filling it below rail level helps with keeping it clean (the goal is to not get any particle outside the actual trench after you shake the box).

As for the first hit always being stickier, I had this problem even with the driest weed and I personally think it's because of the trichomes melting together when heat is applied for the first time.
After reading an advice about it in this thread, I now shake more vigorously after the first hit, and take my second hit even if there is still a bit of material "sticking" to the trench (generally in the corners of the trench). After that second hit, when I shake the box everything gets unstuck and I can continue vaping without worrying about it anymore.
I also use a powder-like, almost a kief consistency grind, and when I use a coarser grind it does tend to stick less.

tl;dr: try taking your second hit even if there is still a bit of material stuck to the trench and see if it gets unstuck after that second hit.

Also, if your weed is sticking to the screen during your first hit, a very simple fix is to cut the time of your first hit in half(especially if you are using a fully charged battery.)

Even with weed as absolutely dry as you can possibly get it, if it's potent enough weed, it will stick to the screen from time to time on the first hit. I too believe this to be a result of the extra trichomes melting and causing the plant matter to fuse to the screen. If I run my bud through my kief catcher first, very briefly, I never have anything stick to the screen in the Launch Box.

A firm shake always dislodges it from the screen for me when it does stick. If you want to avoid it all together, take a shorter first hit and then shake.

OF, Ano, Krazzy - thanks so much for all the advice! I can't dry it out any more than I already am, I'm already shaking the crap out of it after each pull and I clean it after each trench using the brush, blowing into the draw hole, brush again and then blow into the trench.

I'll try the suggestions out today after I give the box a good cleaning by running a battery down with the cover open to burn off and loosen the debris, brush it, then I'll use some isopropyl carefully around the hard spots.
Gotta admit...this is the most fun you can have learning something :science:

You're welcome. Glad you're having fun, that's the idea? One of the things I do with herb that's not as dry as I'd like is grind it up and put it in an open vial on top of the router (it runs warm). Even a couple hours can make a difference, longer's better.......

You might also consider bulk grinding your herb. I sometimes go on a tear and do several grams at a time a gram or two at at time for a few seconds on a coffee grinder (this one in fact, although similar ones should also work fine:
http://www.amazon.com/Proctor-Silex...qid=1413129674&sr=1-2&keywords=coffee+grinder

A few seconds chops it up just right. If it's dry enough, static electricity collects kief on the inner side of the window and cap which I brush out into a vial after I dump the herb out between grinds. A few minutes grinds a pile of bud. As soon as it's 'the right dryness' I put it up in 'Doob tubes' which are airtight and very convenient. I can usually pour it from te DT into the trench (palm of my hand or whereever) as needed:

I've seen parts of the MFLB logo in other places ... here's one of them http://www.spooky2.com/

This site deals with delivery of EMF to the body for healing and other purposes. The general theory being that everything is but energy or vibration. There are vibrations for essential oils, and delivering that vibration (a specific frequency measured in hertz) via an electromagnetic field to the body has the same effect on the body as does exposure to the essential oil. For instance Chamomile has a specific frequency of 5227643.17862571 Hz.

Some people have been asking if THC has a vibration, or natural harmonic frequency. Because if it does in theory delivering that exact frequency to the body could have the same effect as does ingesting THC directly. As to whether that could create a 'buzz' or just deliver the effect of having processed the THC is not yet known ... but will be

I'm sure this post could easily be put under medical discussion, but I'm really just pointing out the similarity between the MFLB logo and the logo on the welcome page of that site, and drawing out relevance.

There are numerous ways bud can get contaminated in the criminal supply chain most of us need to deal with. From various "bud enhancers" that are added before, during or after harvest. These range from high nutrient chemicals that are added weeks before harvest and should be flushed but often aren't, to the shaking / hash extraction / addition of synthetic cannabinoids, to chemicals that slow / stop the drying process (and thus maximise weight).

I've had to ditch a batch I bought that no matter how long I dried it after putting it through a coffee grinder, it still clumped and stuck to the screen on the first draw.

Can you use a little piece of aluminum foil instead of the concentrate tray they sell?

Check out this study on the composition THC vs CBN% with the MFLB.

This got me thinking, in order to keep the THC high I start out with 1/2 a trench, hit it 3 times, grind bud again and add a 1/4 more, hit it three times, repeat 4 more times (regrind, 1/4 more). Can fit lots more in trench since you keep grinding it down. Once full, you can hit it about 15 more times before popcorn taste. I've found that this also improves taste

For openers your goods will probably just melt and run through the hole in the middle. And it'll block the air input vents (the 3 legs), making sucking any vapor that might happen all the harder. I too agree, use it as designed before venturing off? I'm betting the Swiss got it right. Again.

Good unit, you should like it. Get a good (torch type) lighter.
