Any Online Podcast Listeners/Online Only Radio

I have found that the typical radio station in this day and age is lacking. Most of the time it's pre recorded and doesn't satisfy my need for a variety of radio content.

Some years back in the 90s I started listening to a radio host named Tom Leykis. He was located in Los Angeles but you could hear the radio show - The Tom Leykis Show all over the US and parts of Canada. I wouldn't always like every topic, but plenty I did like. He could be pretty hard on women, but a lot of what he would say had a lot of truth in it.

He would talk about what you really wanted to hear about. It seemed to be geared towards men, but some women liked it, including me. The shows would be 4 hrs long from 3 to 7 PAC. Time. Tom would talk about anything from don't knock up your girl friend to investing in your future and making something of yourself. Then one day the show was off the air. I felt terrible when I realized my fav talk show host was no more. The station changed formats.

A lot of radio stations are going out of business due to large overhead costs.

Well, the man came back around 2 yrs ago last April. He's doing a daily radio show from his own studio. Anyone can listen. Maybe some of you have lost your fav radio personality over the years. You may find he or she online. The Tom Leykis Show is alive and well.

Podcast thread!

Few ones I listen to:

Joe Rogan Experience - First got on it years ago and it introduced me to the world of podcasts. He still has some great guests on every now and then.

Tim Ferris Show - Author of 4 hour work week, 4 hour body etc, he has amazing inspirational guests and entrepreneurs on. Definitely worth a listen.

Ben Greenfield Fitness - States itself as a fitness podcast for triathletes but it's for anyone interested in getting fitter. He has so many episodes full of good information that you'll be sorted for everything fitness just by scrolling back through his history.

No Such Thing as Fish - Get vaped and download/stream this immediately. Every person I've recommended this to has been so happy to get on it. You'll hear some of the most interesting/bizarre facts that are very well researched. Perfect vaping listening.

On Thursday on The Tom Leykis Show they have Leykis 101. What every guy needs to know about "dating" and what not to do. Leykis 101 is geared toward men but women can learn also.

Podcast hosts don't have corporate big shots to be accountable to. They have the freedom to truly express their opinions without repercussions. Big radio stations are too costly to operate. Internet radio and podcasts are so much cheaper without the huge overhead costs with many employees and large expensive buildings and equipment. At this point there aren't any laws to abide by. Like the Wild West.

It really is the way of the future. Kinda like how vaporizing is the future in using cannabis.

EDIT
Try The New Normal internet radio

I like that parallel you've drawn. Its inspired me to get vaped and listen to podcasts. God (or science) bless you!
On another semi-related note; the Low End Theory Podcast is the best monthly music podcast in existence. Uninterrupted, raw underground beats by artists that do not compromise on integrity for commercial gain!
http://www.lowendtheoryclub.com/podcast/

Hosted by the owner of Low End Theory (Los Angels club that sees the likes of Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus, Lorn, D-Styles, Daddy Kev, Nobody, Take, etc etc)

Good stuff ladies & gentlemen, check it out if you're into fucked up music!

I love listening to The Stephanie Miller Show on Progressive Voices. It's progressive politics with a lot of humor (which you need if you're a liberal now). I hope to see her Sexy Liberal tour in New Mexico this year.

So...
I'm enjoying serial, but I really don't get all the hype?

It's well made, an interesting story etc, but I don't get the "most popular podcast of all time" hype.
I guess that's just because podcasting is still a young medium...

I suggest people check out "The Dollop" - a comedy podcast by Comedians Dave Anyhony and Garreth (Gary) Reynolds.

Basically each episode Dave picks something fucked up from American history, and he presents it to Garreth who usually has no idea about the topic presented.

One of the most recent ones was on thanksgiving, and they're doing an LAPD special this month - every episode will be related to the LAPD in some way.

It's one of the few podcasts I listen to as soon as I see a new ep is up.

Snoop has a podcast now. Latest ep had Seth rogan. During the conversation snoop was talking about the first time he smoked hydroponic grown weed. They slurred the term to hydrochronic then just chronic in case your wondering where the term came from. Worth a listen.
