Tested my KISS Globe with the 1701 donut and it reads 0.89 ohms. My normal Ti KISS Globe cart reads 1.21 ohms. What should it be?

Fuck if I know, however you're solely looking at resistance to determine proper function? Did you try actually using it? FWIW, I would expect this to have a different resistance than a standard KISS cart. They are completely different heating elements.

The resistances seemed different enough that I was scared to just try it haha. Maybe @THC SCIENTIFIC can chime in with what the expected value should be.

Anyone found a way to use the 1701 in the Okeanos?

The 1701 does indeed fit the Kiss Globe base. You remove the glass, unscrew the standard coil, then screw in the Donut coil. I will agree with other reviews that it is not a huge cloud producer, but the flavor is very good. It is better on freshly charged batteries(what isn't). OR the Core and you can dial up the voltage slightly from 3.7.

On the previous page @Fredster951 has a post showing the donut rebuilt in a kiss cartridge that's he's been using in an okeanos. I'm going to try to do that soon too.

I thought the KISS, KISS Globes and 1701 Donut were awesome...and I thought how much better could the SR-71 really be?

.8 is normal for the donut. the ceramic needs more power to heat up. But like the Herc's heater, the resistance will rise when it gets going, and requires less power to maintain the heat. Kinda like a jetplane using afterburners during take-off.

You can find replacement "vaping donuts" through google search until W9 starts to sell them. The problem is that you must have that ceramic ring wick that comes with the 1701 to use with them.
If you try to "dry-burn" the donuts they can explode and send ceramic heater fragments everywhere.

Thanks for the instructions.

I tried running the 1701 on the Kiss Globe with Persei + core. At 3.7v I didn't really get much visible vapor but amazing flavor. Dialed the core up to 4.2v and it produced light clouds. The taste was still very nice.

I will need to play with it more later. My core has been acting up lately with my v3 Persei head. It often just blinks 3 times but won't fire. Not sure whats up was running my Herc off the core on a camping trip earlier this summer no problem.

I think the problem lies with the V3 Top. I'm having the same problem. V3 Top will flash instead of fire properly. No matter the Core or Battery.

Maybe it was a minimum ohm cutoff like the iris does. I don't think the iris V1 will do anything below 1.2ohm. I hope the v4 will at least do the doughnuts. A rebuilt kiss cart around 1ohm on 3.7 is my daily driver, and the v1 tops don't discriminate against my ohms

Great Scott!
My local headshop (awesome place) sells the persei, but nothing beyond the standard kit. Bringing them my SR74 to try out and see if they want to sell some of the much better addons than the kit itself.

Last time they let me try out their e-nail and I'm pretty impressed. Might have to see if they will hook up a deal!

I feel your pain.. It's almost been a entire month and I haven't been able to use my 8 since I got. Very expensive paper weight :bang:

I also refuse to pay more $$ to fix something that should've worked when I bought it.
Whats wrong with your 8? Are you having the same issues like many of us here?

guys im sorry to say but all 8's that have an issue im able to fix and get it going. We didnt anticipate the 8 being difficult to operate and already have the center pin to make sure its easier to work with.

Let me test it out and fix this issue.

Thanks again for taking care of the customers. I was able to to get mine to fire almost every time by stuffing a little bit of thin guage wire into the space behind the button adjustment screw. So I'm thinking the bottom pin is always making contact and the top pin is the only one that needs to touch the screw when pressed. Anyways it's not how I want it to be but it works lol.

we understand that and there shouldnt be any modifications done to it to make it work. We have tested every single 8 that had an issue with its owner and all of them after we rebuilt them was able to fire all the time.

If anyone is not happy with there 8 please let me know now and ill facilitate a return for them.

Also one more thing that sucks...I don't know why but the heat from the top pin or maybe bottom pin transfered over to the adjustment screw which then kind of melted the white plastic housing :( I felt my thumb sinking in as I struggled to get my herc to warm up (never got hot enough). I was able to screw it back in. Just kinda threaded it myself as it screwed in. Why did it get so hot that it melted? This has happened twice and both times was when the herc did not want to heat up.

thats because the unit itself is not properly adjusted. its causing a short somewhere in the button, and by modifying it with a wire inside, this could very well be the cause.

I love my 8 when its working. It's a beast when paired with the herc. Just a pain that I would have to tweak it every couple of sessions to get it to start firing again. So far it's been good. I'm sure the modified pins will fix the problems most of us are having.
