I'm in constant vigilance of bladder infections being that my bladder doesn't work and I have to cath myself every 3 to 4 hours.
Vicki, while it's a good to let your body's natural defenses try to fight this off by taking the natural approach, it's important to state that antibiotics, such as Cipro, may be needed to get control of it so it doesn't spread to your kidneys.
Also, and I don't know if this is your case, but if you are constantly battling bladder infections, there are prophylactic drugs (I take them twice a day and have to continue to take them for the rest of my life) that are not antibiotics, that can keep bladder infections at bay and that are relatively safe.
Oh yeah...........and fuck bladder infections.

The woman at the Walgreens wellness clinic put me on Macrobid 500mg BID x 7 days. She said it would take a couple days for me to feel relief. I'm also taking a lot of cranberry and drinking so much water I can feel it sloshing around in my stomach. She said if I had waited much longer I would have been in the hospital.
I've been telling my doctor I've been having bladder/kidney problems for over a year now. My old GP closed her practice, but she blamed it on peri-menopause. I told my new GP, and she decided to run a lot of blood and urine tests, and I go back to see her the beginning of November. Plus, Walgreens will be sending her a report about this incident and the test results from Quest Diagnostics.

It's amazing how one can adapt. Sometimes it hurts but not often. Been doing this for over 10 years now so I'm kinda used to it.
Regarding the prophylactic meds, ask your doc about methenamine hippurate. Good thing about it is that you don't build up an immunity to it like most all antibiotics.

Fuck columbus day, all he gave a fuck about was gold he didn't discover shit. And fuck me for forgetting and going to the rural mailbox anyways, looking for my pills that weren't delivered cause no mail. At least I had an envelope to post but I forgot to put up the fucking flag so I had to go back. I haven't tried to mail a metered-on-line package this way yet, the carrier better pick it up or I'll be back with a fucking update!
