Discontinued Haze Dual V3

ichibaneye

Vapriot, Traveler & Vaporizer/ing lover!
I saw the puffit inhaler looking vaporizer at a head shop on vaca in ft lauderdale that peaked my interest which led me to research vaporizers(and see that one sucked) which led me to this thread which led to me buying the Haze and getting it deliver in a few days. Im excited to stop combusting and to start vaping. I had no idea what i simple search was getting me into with all this info and stuff to learn on here. I have been a junkie reading up on this site. I feel like i am already a VapeSnob when i am smoking now(putting it down in my mind) just to prepare me for the things to come. I am looking foward to experiencing all the new stuff i can do with a vaporizer.

Welcome and congratulations on your decision. Let us all know what you think about it when the Haze arrives. Cheers!

So I have been with my new unit for about a week now and I figured I would drop some feedback.....

First off let's talk about the new door design because I think this is the most significant improvement.
Here is a pic of the OG vs. the V2......

20141006_212755_zpsjftiooto.jpg

20141006_212709_zpshhwfzysh-1.jpg

The unit on the left is my OG. You will notice it has the silicone seal that goes over the two chambers which keeps the seal over the bowl and keeps the door from melting off. On the V2 the silicone is still there but there is a stainless cover over it. This helps in a couple ways:

*Durability- check out the old one and the marks on there from the can. This was only going to get worse.

*Taste- This in theory but I honestly don't notice any difference.

*Cleaning- No matter what you did you were not going to take care of that discoloration on the old one with a wipe down. You can with the new one.

*Heat up time- This is the biggie! I usually start on temperature level 3 so I timed from cold to there. I placed a can in each with my standard .25 g of fresh herb. The old unit took 2 minutes 13 seconds to heat up. The new unit took only 58 seconds! Once it got there it didn't seem any different but the heat up time was a bit of a gripe of mine when using the herb in the can method. Now it's competitive with a lot of other vapes in this class so I am real happy about that!

Other items that were improved that I will comment on now:

*They applied a fix into the unit to reduce glass mouthpiece stickiness. Not so much in my experience. This isn't a deal breaker but I am again resistant to use the glass for fear it will get stuck in there or break off inside or even break the unit like my OG. I think there is more work to be done here and they can make these minor tweaks on the fly. Keep after this one please @Haze Vaporizers

*They also applied a fix for o-ring issue. No problems here.....

*The main door snap's shut even better. As I stated before this is true but the solution still leaves me a bit unsatisfied. I would like them to keep working on this and battery latch. The battery latch will keep the battery in there on it's own but if you bump it the wrong way the door could open and your battery could fly out. The main door has double the snapping power but the lack of confirmation that the single snap suffered from is just multiplied by two now.

Even with these minor gripes I still thrilled with the new model and am pleased they keep looking for ways to improve it. I can look past some of these cosmetic wishes because I know its a versatile solid performer.

Here are a few more items that @Vape Dr. and I were discussing and shared with Haze already. I am now putting it out here to see what how important these things would be for other users.

*I already mentioned the stealth black unit but I would also like a stealth black mouthpiece to go with it. No silver or glass. A nice black anodized mouthpiece would be great!
*Temp settings- Sorry but I am going to :horse:one more time in hopes that others will comment and express their support on this one.......Haze has already said they wouldn't add temp settings until the next gen comes around. But this doesn't mean they can't change the four they have right? As Vape Dr. said how many people are really using the first setting? I would like see that be the bottom somewhere around 355. Next level around 370. Next level around 390 and the last one 400+ for wax.

*Charging- This is a next gen one for sure but I would love to have the ability to charge the battery in the unit or externally.

*Battery Checker- I would like to see some way to check the battery before a flashing red and it's dead.

*Sell the silicone can lids separately. Depending on how you clean them they could lose some form. They also get lost real easy. Right @ean ? LOL. Why not sell these separately so if you ruin/damage yours you don't have to poney up the cash for the whole can to replace them.

What else would you like guys?

In the end they could keep it as is and I would be happy. That said the new heatup time is a huge step in the right direction so I am excited to see what's next!

Scott, all good points made.

I am especially with you on the temps. I do find it a shame that the temps aren't being reworked a bit, as the first setting really holds no practical use for me, and the second setting even doesn't get much play.

Nice job Scott! I also think switching out the first temp with a higher temp, or even raise the first two is a great idea. I also only use temps 3 nd mostly 4 like most others nd have no use for the first two.

My V2 should be here Tuesday I hope. That 58sec heat up with the can is awesome. That was prob my biggest gripe about the haze. I'm glad they improved it n hopefully keep improving. Kudos @Haze Vaporizers

I tried CBD the other day with setting 1 and 2. It works great. Do you guys get CBD or use it with low setting?

I definitely agree with everyone on the temperature settings.
This seems to be on everyones mind, mine included.
This is too great of a vaporizer to have only 1 truly dedicated herb temperature, more than one temp setting would be great!

IMO I don't think anyone, or enough people use temps #1 and #2 to warrant having them.

I also agree with @scottg402 with the temps he mentioned:
#1-355
#2-370
#3-390
#4-410 (same) works amazing with oil!

These all seem like the absolute ideal temperature ranges for everyone IMO.

I would also love to see a battery life remaining light!

A possible easy solution for this would be to use the temp select button.

Hold down the temp select button for 3-5 seconds and the 4 temp indicator lights could show battery life in 25% increments without having to turn the unit on.

I have been using my Haze daily ever since I got it.
Herbs and oil in the same unit is an amazing thing to have.
I absolutely love my Haze, but everything has room for improvement, or room to grow.
This is what Haze needs us, the Haze owners to help them out with.

The Haze has the advantage over all other portable vaporizers with its patented dual bowl.
I feel it is a huge contender in the portable vaporizer market, but could be a top dog with more useable temp settings.

With only a few minor tweaks/upgrades, I know the Haze could outshine other portable vapes.
IMO reworking the temperatures to more user friendly settings, adding a battery life light, already having the dual bowls and removable battery would put the Haze way ahead of the game.

Lets try to make the Haze the best vaporizer it can be!

I hope @Haze Vaporizers will take these suggestions into consideration!:)

How about the next version to release has a mini USB port. To possibly charge while using The Haze. Also more importantly, hook to a computer and include a disc with a program for u to select your own four custom heat settings. Am I asking for too much or getting a little carried away? Lol

Also @Vape Dr. thats a perfect idea for a battery check. Hopefully that can be implemented in their new version with some other things.

Curious about temp 355, how is it now? How's its flavor and effect? If its not really much then would it make more sense for temps at like 362, 378, 394, then 410 instead? Increments of 16F to get the most differentiating effects out of each temp setting? With those temps I think i might have to buy one myself

Yeah change those now but ideally I would like to see temps 360 and 375 added for a total of six temps. Maybe 2015 for those?

But change the software on the current "four setting" generation now. Pretty please @Haze Vaporizers !!

Another thing that can be changed now that you came up with @Vape Dr. is to extend the coverage of that silicone on the outside of the body across the door over the ovens. That would cool the outside of the device, provide a soft feel and provide some shock absorbtion.

Edit: @NickDlow you are on to something with the usb charge/program for your own temps. I LOVE THAT IDEA!

2nd Edit: yeah @Shit Snacks I would take those over the current temps as well but I would still prefer the lower (more flavorful imo) temps. I don't need huge clouds from the start.

I would use the lower temp for thc infused e-juices. I say this because I like adding flavors to it to mask any smell. It works great in assholes to elbows situations. I agree programmable temps or all around temp control would be nice.

I was told that a new unit is most likely going to drop in the new year and that current units have some updatability to them for future tweaks. I'm guessing at the ecu and heating units here. I think it's great that from the start Haze had it in mind to not have a set in stone mold when it came to the unit.

One thing I never really understood about some real high end gadgets/devices/electronics is this: Why are most of the latches and doors where batteries go in these devices so cheap?! This is one place that usually gets broken or stops staying closed on so many devices.

Thanks for the added comments everyone. Enjoy your SaturHaze!!!!!

Some of the ideas here that you guys share will certainly make Haze guys sell more products but I dont think that it will make it any better vaporizer than it is now. I am holding my Ascent in my hand right now as I type this. I charged this last 6 hours and used it for 10 sessions only.Currently the little fency battery life indicator is telling me that it is empty. I though this was a defective unit before I got a replacement and realized that the replacement is exactly the same. After that I started doing some research and guess what, check out Vape Critics site or reddit and see a lot of people pointing this out. So what do I do now? I ignore it. Yes on paper, it is there, cool indicator, do I give a shit ? No...Same applies to heat settings. Before I bought this, i researched Pax and others, most Pax lovers will not complain about lact of heat settings. Here I am with the Ascent at the same exact 2-3 settings for the last several months. Well is it good to have? Yes...does it make it a better vape since they have it? No...

So my point is, if Haze wants to sell more products, yes go with all these. You will capture a large crowd who will love the options. SOme of them will even love it more even if they dont have a slightest idea about vaping. In my opinion, Haze is a great vape as it is and they should focus more on accessories, carry case, attachments , any other unique idea that will make life easier for people. All others are nothing but cool marketing opportunities.

Hello @Shit Snacks! How are you my friend!
The temperatures that @scottg402 recommended are perfect because of the Haze patented heating design.
The Haze is able to have a set temperature that increase as needed.
For instance. 410F is not enough to vape oil (430F on the Ascent is not capable of vaping oil, barely if anything).
When you have the Haze on temp #4 (410F) with oil in the cans the temperature will reach up to 470F in the cans!
The haze vapes oil amazingly!
So the set temperatures can vary up a little higher depending on if you are using a conduction screen, convection screen, or the cans (My personal favorite!)

It is a very unique heating setup to say the least and works well.

@ichibaneye YES YES YES! Thank you! I completely forgot to mention the battery lid!
I would love to see an upgraded battery lid.
The current one works fine, don't get me wrong, but could use a bit of tweaking.
The only times I will have a battery door issue is when I have had a few sessions.
When I turn the switch on, and have to tap the unit to get the mouthpiece straw out, sometimes the battery door will pop open.
This is a very minor problem, but it is a problem.
An updated battery door that is a little more secure would definitely be a very nice upgrade!

@NickDlow So true! Haze is getting a bunch of excellent info today, I agree!
I do hope they like the suggestions and I'm sure they will consider them and respond soon!

I will have a Haze review up this weekend with oil and herb as well!

@bruce6110 i agree I'm beyond happy with my haze and my temps for that matter. I mostly use temp 4 I like to vaporize as much out of my herb as possible. I suggested the programable temp thing to make the ppl who want more/different temps. But I will disagree about stop trying to improve the haze unit itself. There is always room for improvement IMO. Also upgraded and new accessories are being developed too. If you have ideas for some accessories please share! I'm sure Haze is open to all ideas. I'd like to see more accessories also.

I am quite well my friend and I hope that you are too! Glad to see you back up to it on the threads! Did you get a chance to read my message about the Elevape? Still looking forward to your "official" Haze review!

Regarding the temps, I knew of the special heat exchange properties of level 4 with cans, but is it that way for each of the temp settings too?

I just wasn't sure if people were knocking temp setting number 2 or not, given what I was reading

I have consistent results no matter the pack, or using the can or conduction screen. if the temps to change with herbs it is not noticeable at all.

Yes my friend! I was going to PM you tonight and further talk about the ESV!

I am working on my Haze review as we speak, I am not sure how to break this up for one post as I have 30+ pictures! No worries my friend, review to come soon!

unfortunately I must disagree with @ean when it comes to the heat differential, and using the different screens and cans.
If this were the case the Ascent should be very capable of vaporizing oil at 430F which it is not.
Here is a reference of the ABV from both screens and the can.

Conduction screen fresh

Conduction screen ABV

Convection screen fresh

Convection screen ABV

Herb in the can fresh

Herb in can ABV

As you can see the herb in the can is much darker.
The can vapes herb to an almost cinnamon color, where as the screens ABV is much lighter.
All tests with herb were done on temp #3 with .25g of sour diesel.

IMO when using the can, the bottom chamber hole is covered. This blocks air from escaping allowing temperatures to rise in the oven. When the screens are in place, the hole at the bottom of the oven has airflow, therefor does not get as hot.

This is just my opinion of how the heat exchange works, allowing temp #4 to vape oil when the temperature is supposed to be 410F by blocking off the hole.

I very well may be wrong about the way the heat exchange works in the Haze (that's just my theory) but as you can see the herb vapes differently using screens or cans on the same temperature, same amount, and same meds.

@Shit Snacks I vaped a couple cans starting on 2 today for the first time in A WHILE. I usually start on 3 but I decided to try it again because I broke out my Space Case to switch up my grind @Vape Dr. 's reccomendation. I also wanted to test it against the new unit.

It's been a while but I think the results are similar. Level 2 on the Haze reminds me a little bit of cyan on the Indica. Crazy good flavor with no vapor for the first 3-4 draws and only light whispy vapor after that. That's what happened today.

I have also seen it where I had that great taste but with no vapor. There are a lot of variables that can cause this but it's my theory that moving the temp up 5 degrees will nullify most of them and you will achieve tasty low temp vapor.

As for temp 1, I simply have no use for that. I understand Haze marketing this as an all purpose device (that even covers e-liquid) but I think they can use the setting better at another temp. If I can only have four temps, I don't want one wasted on that. Just a personal preference, I am sure it would be useful for others.

@bruce6110 I am with @NickDlow on this one. I love the Haze as is and I'm not complaining. If they didn't change a thing it competes with anything currently on the market IMO. With some of the innovative features they have introduced they could easily sit back for a while (like Pax) and let others catch up.

But one of the best things about @Haze Vaporizers IMO is that they appear to be unwilling to settle. They know it's a competitive market and they need to keep innovating. I love that they listen to us to do this. The users at FC are going to be their toughest critic's.

You will get the people like Shit Snacks who will tell them which features they are missing to make them a believer.
You also have the owners who have the hands on experience and can give them feedback on use, durability, feature preferences and the little quirks that need to be addressed for the best overall experience.

If their vaporizer business is solid it could allow for more investment into their accessory line. There could also be more vaporizers out there to sell accessories for.

Is temp the most important change for me? No. But after using this for a while now and using some other vapes it doesn't sit well that half of the temps offered are not really usable for my needs and probably for most folks reading this.

It's not a deal breaker but if we are building the prefect vape this is something that needs addressing and so far it seems like Haze is interested in building that perfect vape. I for one and happy to be along for the ride!

I already voiced my concerns about the temps earlier in this thread, but as the forum rules state to move on once one has made his/her point...

355°F for the first one would be fine but I start some of my strains below 345°F on my Ascent. If you can forget your fixation on visible vapor, taste is just heavenly at these low temperatures (and just use a flash light on your vapor exhale and you'll see that there is plenty, it's just lighter and smaller particules, but it's there for sure!)

@bruce6110 : not everyone needs control, but it's sad that you keep using the same settings with your Ascent. Maybe you don't have access to many different strains like I do?

@KeroZen I respect the need for these settings for some people and you are right, I do not have access to so many strains. They may work well at different temperatures. I have the same guy who provides me my flower for the last 10 years. I have always been a heavy smoker and I have been vaping for a long time. I just enjoy Haze as it is and think that simplicity has a big value too. If they start adding USB ports, computer programs, all other bells and whistles, they may loose some of the users who are still trying to figure out how to insert a mouthpiece the correct way. Look at Haze announcement up top. Please dont get me wrong , I am not criticizing anybody's suggestions but trying to see it from another angle. Improvements are certainly appreciated but they need to be towards catering to everybody's needs in my opinion. Regardless, I will add some of my suggestions tomorrow in terms of what I would love to see in the next gen. Again, I hope I am not being misunderstood by you all. I love this forum and especially this thread. Matter fact, so far I only posted on this thread since I signed up because I made up my mind about Haze (thanks to you guys) by reading this thread and I am so glad that I bought it. I just dont want these guys to over complicate a beautiful, simple to use, easy to deal with, elegant looking product while they are trying to add more to it.

The move-on rule exists to allow us to prevent people from using FC as a platform to bully or blackmail a manufacturer or vendor. This almost always results from someone who is dissatisfied about customer service. It's not meant to stop anyone from participating in a discussion like this one.

I and many like me happen to prefer low temperature vapour, so I think the range should start at 160°C (320°F). As you point out, vapour at that temperature is thin and difficult to see unless you have the right lighting, but the (sativa-like) effects and especially the flavour are there. As for the other additions that people want, I think most of the requests haven't been thought through. Changing the temperature range might be simple (or maybe not, it depends on the controller chip) but a lot of the features would result in extra manufacturing costs that would have to be passed on to the consumer, as well as introducing more potential points of failure. Be careful what you wish for.

@Vape Dr. you make a good point about the Ascent being very poor with waxes and oils. Though I do believe wholeheartedly that the Ascent would handle them like a champ if they moved away from the glass jars into a stainless steel alloy bullet. It can have all the same outer dimensions to ensure that the silicone lids fit appropriately, but using a more efficient conductor of heat would likely put Ascent on the map for oils and waxes as they had originally tried to market.

I love your ideas. I honestly dont care because i dont plan on buying another one because the Haze right now is already perfect to me. i would like to see maybe some sort of covers for the lids on our ogs if that is possible. On a side note i contacted haze and there sending me some silicon lids, free of charge. great customer service and a great product.

Maybe they should do a serious poll to know how many of their customers are really using the first temp setting for e-juices as it is? I think I would use a regular pen instead of this vape for that purpose, but that's just me.

From what I recall it's too low even for low temps enthusiasts, right? (the four levels are 250, 350, 375 and 410)

So maybe it's just a matter of setting the lowest to 350, keep 375 and add a third one before 410?
