Inhaling techniques to relieve stress on lungs.

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
Hello to all,
I recently converted back to the vaporbrothers hands free whip style vaporizer. I also have a mini hydrator attached to it, but for some reason I am experiencing lots of drag and it is straining my lungs and making my heart rate jump up. I did the obvious of only filling the minimum amount of water in the bubbler just to cover the slits, very little water and I have cut the whip considerably to shorten the distance between the wand and the bubbler, but Im still having a hard time drawing and keeping a consitant airflow and it seems I am getting drag resistance. By the way, I use the bubbler because the hot vapor on its own irritates my lungs and throat.

I have done searches but I cant find any anything with my circumstances. The follwing are techniques that I have found on the web and have used them; I have tried inhaling with my belly, which relieves stress to my lungs but I dont know if it is safe to do so. I have also done a combination between belly and lungs which has cut down some strain. Also I have have filled up my mouth first, then inhale with my belly then keep inhaling with my lungs. While these methods have reduced strain in my lungs it is not as efficient as just drawing straight to my lungs. Reason being is that I feel as if I am not creating consistant airflow because its interrupted by me incorporating different techniques.

I am not sure what happened. In the first few months, I was able go draw straight to my lungs with no strain and no problem, now Im finding more drag resistance and my lungs and heart being overworked more. Could my lungs be shot? Mind you I exercise regurlarly with lots of cardio. This started happening after about a year of using my vaporizer. I fear I might be of the few that vaporizing has negative effects on. By the way, All my tools are cleaned and cared for. I have replaced the hose and screens for new ones.

Id hate to go back to combustion, as this doesnt happen to me when Im combusting. And I dont really like edibles. Can anyone offer some insight as to what can possibly be going on? Or if you can share some inhalation techniques that offer consistant air flow that wont overwork my heart and lungs? Could it be the type of bubbler Im using causing this? Even though Im using minimal water....Thank you very much.

I think is the type of bubbler, why don't you get a bubbler with a matrix, like the Mobius Ion, or a relative inexpensive clone from DHgate?
Those have cero drag.

Thanks man, I appreciate you taking the time to read through the post and offer your thoughts. That Mobius Ion is a sexy beast, though the price is a little on the steep side.....If I were 100% sure it was going to be the solution to my problem I would definately go for it. The bubbler is something worthwhile to look at though, I did look at the dhgate website and I found some that caught my attention. If it does remedy my problem then I will up it to the mobius Ion.

You can buy the D020-D which is an ION clone for $35 - http://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-...lator-smoking/187214099.html#s1-3-7|420283629
(I have purchased many times from Sunshinestore on dhgate, its the only vendor I trust currently on that site)

Personally, I wasn't a big fan of my VB knockoff vape (draw restriction was fine, but hated how it vaped the herb).

Have you checked draw resistance on the VB itself without the bubbler? What about getting a new vape. My E-Nano log has hardly any draw reistance

I started using my vaporbrothers box without the bubbler. I totally digged the vaping experience, but after sometime the vapors were too harsh on my throat and lungs. So going from information I read online, I decided to buy a bubbler. I opted out for the mini hydrator, since I did not know much about bubblers, but buying a piece that is made specifically for my box vape is practically idiot proof.

I did buy the arizer xtreme q, to see if the forced air system would make a difference and saw immeadeatly it wasnt all it was cracked up to be. I saw that the forced air system was rather weak and when finished using the xtreme q, I was left coughing throught the day and with a tickling sensation in my throat. Something I never experienced with my Vaporbrothers.

I saw the Enano log. Wish I would have bought that instead of the extreme q. The Volcano was in thoughts for a few, but it is pricey and I didnt want to take a chance at buying it and I would have issues with that too. I came to think Im probably sensitive to the vapor in some way and it makes my lungs tighten up. Like I mentioned, I use minimal water, it shouldnt be a big task, but my body thinks otherswise. I am going to try the someways around it, but As much as I hate to say it, if nothing comes from this, Im going to have to go back to combusting. I never had so many complications when combusting, only the munchies. Lol.....Im Thank you for your reply.

Make sure the screen in your VB wand is clean...spotless. I have to change mine pretty often or it can turn into a milkshake draw.

A fine grind and load size can also decrease airflow, maybe try a medium grind with a little less material?

I'd go back to hitting it dry to see if it's the bubbler or the VB box that is causing the restriction and go from there.

My VB has almost effortless airflow.

Yeah man, thanks. I learned the hardway, that those screens can get clogged. At a few points I practically almost passed out from light headedness when I was high. After a vaping session, I started seeing little spots floating around. I thought it was the weed. I was able to pull vapors like a champ still. Then after a few times I came to the conclusion that metal screen was really dirty and that I was really overworking my lungs alot.

Im kinda hoping that during those sessions I did not injure my lungs. Because pulling vapors has never been the same. Its been like 4 months since that happened and I took a break. Decided to order the ezchange whip and bought extra screens. Which I have replaced and cleaned everything through out.

But I will try your suggestions as well. About hitting it straight, with medium grind, and less material.

I also find that my lungs begin to reach full capacity very quickly. My solution is to increase the heat and inhale slower to complete the session in a shorter amount of time / less amount of hits. I'd love to be able to vape at a lower temp and inhale for much longer for the full flavour of the herb but until I get into swimming or lung-expanding cardio I may have to stick with my compromise :(

Thats well worth the shot, now that you mention it, I too reach full capacity as well. Never noticed it until you mentioned it now. But I used to take long draws pretty much winding myself out. My sessions only lasted for 6 draws. But for each draw I would inhale until I knew for certain I had a very good amount of vapor or I filled the whole bubbler with vapor and then emptied it in the same inhaling. Ive always had a problem with water tools, I had a bong sometime back when I was combusting, I dont know if the water helped put the smoke deep into my lungs, but I always felt my lungs funny after a bong hit or two. I think that can be part of the problem. Hopefully I will be able to incorporate all these thoughtful suggestions and be a success. Im giving myself sometime to recoup, then I will report back with my findings.

I had a sesh tonight (just lavender) but I took extra care to only inhale as much as my lungs instinctually wanted to inhale. I found that it was less pressure to take a big hit, and more focus on tasting and appreciating the small-medium amount of vape that I COULD inhale. I think that after a few years of massive bong hits and then a week or two of pretty intense vape-hits that I had to lower my standard of inhale to one that was more comfortable, and now that I am slowly finding that comfortable 'sweet spot' it's starting to feel like less of a chore now.
I guess more cardio would help, but I'm satisfied with taking small'ish hits anyway :)

Cool, lavender....thats RRRrrright, vaporizers can vape other things as well...how was the experience? so Yeah, I tried many of the great suggestions here because I couldnt wait. I could still not hit the vape straight up, that vapor is pretty harsh on me. I still have yet to order another water piece from the dhgate site, but its in the works. thanks for the suggestions guys.

So I had a session earlier today and found out that if I can manage to get the vapor going before commiting my lungs, I would not overwork my lungs out, then when the water piece was full with vapor, I can then introduce my lungs to just to clear it. I would inhale short and fast and then leave plenty of room for fresh air, As opposed to what I was doing in the beginning, which was putting more effort and work just to see vapors, by the time I got to clearing the piece I had no lung space left.

I did raise the temperature and kept my inhales short. Suprisingly, I felt as if my lungs opened up afterwards. I think I just found the "sweetspot". So far so good.

I dont want to leave vaping, as I think its so Cool one can vape then use the leftovers for edibles.

All I need is one vape session, half a six pack of guinness,a firecracker and Im happy for hours. I even got it down to a science . Vape, wait an hour, eat the firecracker, since its on time release. In the meantime slowly sip on 3 beers and when Im ready, I eat a good meal, that shoots the firecracker high straight up.

I had athlete's asthma when I was younger and my lungs would still be susceptible to drying out quicker than others so I'm very conscious when inhaling.
I tend to take short-medium inhales using my lungs (chest is expanding). I used to inhale via the stomach but stopped once I realized it was drying out my lower lungs more where greater oxygen absorption takes place. I found inhaling through the upper part of the lungs least affected my physical fitness.
Sometimes after a heavy sesh I'll notice my throat a little dry at first, but it moistens up further into the workout/football game.
It's an awful lot more manageable than when you've dried out your lower lungs. When you've dried them out it inevitably effects the throat much more aggressively. I remember playing big football matches and having to run over to the sideline every few mins for a drink of water, lesson learned!

I should buy a proper water piece sometime, I have a home-made plastic one I never use because I didn't find it make much difference.
Also, I find doing relaxed deep breathing exercises after vaping helps a lot. :)

Thank you for sharing your experience. Other than getting another water piece that was suggested above, I came to the conclusion that I might have developed an allergy towards the vapors. Though yesterday I was conscious of my breath and didnt force my lungs at all, later in the night my lungs felt heavy and shot with some minor pain jn my chest and I had a ticlkling sensation in my throat.

Today I blazed a joint and to my surprise I did not and have not felt any of the symptoms mentioned above when I vape.

Salutations ChezGreenDream,

Then how about a lesser-drag solution?

Should pre-heating cause some concern i'd imagine two Amazing Vapor Lung units shall do!... It would only require a connector system that's been adapted to rapid swaps. Or maybe just 1 if you're agile enough.

:peace:

That is genius my friend, Will try that out.

Sadly though in my last experiment with my vaporizer I didnt put much effort into drawing vapor and was able to get a good high. Though by the end of the night, I was feeling ill, and my lungs felt tight and my breathing was shallow. I checked my blood pressure and it was a whoping 150/85 and it remained such for sometime. Nothing to be crazy alarmed about, but it is higher than I usually have, which is 130/75. I do have prehypertension and my blood pressure spikes up, if I dont take care of it. Doctor suggested Id take care of it, if not I can develop high blood pressure.

On a lighter note, I smoked a joint on another day and it did raise my blood pressure just slightly. But no other symptoms, such as tight lungs and heavy breathing. Could vaporizing be making me ill? I just dont get it, vaporizing has been my favorite past time and people have all types of good things to say about it, but to me it affects me in a different way. I was vaporizing for 2 years on and off and never even thought twice about anything. It was fucking great. Now I feel as if Ive become allergic to vaporizing and is causing my lungs to tighten up, therefore stressing my lungs and heart when I vaporize that still lingers afterwards.

Salutations ChezGreenDream,

That is genius my friend, Will try that out.

For reasons that may not meet the eye at 1st glance i find Natural Farmer's clever solution would have addressed my own needs quite conveniently when i started using bags myself in 2011, only these days i'd never try to put moisturized air inside:

...i currently prefer to NEVER put anything else than dry cannabic vapour in a bag...

There's a no-wet-contact alternative method of moisturization which i've explored and finally tagged as the FogBong, while i was also discovering the "locomotive" effect resulting from my HA + ballon setups exactly...

This prompted me to implement whip mode instead, then i just dropped electric extraction as it felt slow and tiresome. Frequent abuse of a FonBong wasn't without noticeable consequences neither, although it was a valid proof-of-concept to me which led to my modded VG pipe, eventually: it has inlet self-moisturization now combined with a VapMan-style "PinHole" technique.

This was another proof-of-concept which helped me define what's the next step, only to realize i'd have to build a vaporizer myself in order to improve release speed while maintaining adequate temperature and dosage control. But in the meatime allergy symptoms kicked in so i started depending on pre-vaped blends!...

My pipe is fast but still "analog" by design, lucky me self-conditioning seems to be tweaked about right as i don't need to drink as much; blending tamed down allergy reactions though my new dosage quest changed the hobby significantly since 2011 i shall admit! Anyway it's not something i'd recommend to someone in your situation who'd need to climb some steep learning curve, trying to acquire manipulation skills while avoiding thick combustion clouds that ain't forgiving...

Unfortunately a long while ago i came to conclude the vape i want is nowhere to be seen and hence i'm stuck with "Plan-B" until i can no longer manage even this.

...vaporbrothers hands free whip... ...mini hydrator attached... ...still having a hard time drawing and keeping a consistant airflow...

Sadly though in my last experiment with my vaporizer I didnt put much effort into drawing vapor and was able to get a good high. Though by the end of the night, I was feeling ill, and my lungs felt tight and my breathing was shallow.

In theory i once thought bags were perfect for dosage control, in practice this didn't work the way i had imagined. Pure convection as in Arizer's Cyclone Bowl failed too because of the significant lung work it required of me just to pre-heat, so i don't suppose i'd be luckier with similar scenarios.

:worms:

Well, at least i don't hurt my lungs dangerously if/when i cough once. So i can only express compassion reading about your most challenging situation where the desire to find a substitude for a former smoking habit boldly conflicts with serious health-safety issues!

The only idea that comes to my mind would be to test altered spectrums, e.g. less THC or whichever substance that falls into the scope of your own ultra-sensitized radar, considering the bong-dragging aspect was solved...

...I smoked a joint on another day and it did raise my blood pressure just slightly. But no other symptoms, such as tight lungs and heavy breathing.

My wish is that some day we get sufficient control over release time, temperature and dosage. It would posibly help to understand this observation that sounds so paradoxal to me as smoke is totally excluded on my side.

I just dont get it... ...people have all types of good things to say about it, but to me it affects me in a different way.

Sounds familiar enough, it's because the average user has short antenas somehow. Adversity allows us to see limitations that are doomed to remain ignored by a vast majority i suppose!

It was fucking great. Now I feel as if Ive become allergic to vaporizing and is causing my lungs to tighten up, therefore stressing my lungs and heart when I vaporize that still lingers afterwards.

Maybe you'd be one of those who can benefit from future "smart" devices as the Syqe, via better dosage control. It seems i should consider myself lucky for still having the option to wash it down and obtain relief of the tightening effect almost immediately, as long as i don't abuse it because the next day i'll sense it if i do. So, briefly put i'll welcome BlueTooth feedback features all right when those finally become a reality...

In the meantime i attempt to compensate with ritual and my blending thing is part of that. Visual clues under the sun improve my impression of satisfaction a great deal as it also helps me avoid manipulation errors (and the couphing that would result), etc.

Like me i guess you're in need for swift, metered/monitored and self-conditioned release too after all!

So don't hold your breath, to quote a popular expression: it's just not showing on the radar so far...

Good luck CGD!

:peace:
