Yeah, I did that the other day. Was a little disappointed that it only lasts until the end of the month. What the hell am I going to need to buy before the end of October?

Nice to see though. Hopefully this will help some folks who have been on the fence with the FF...

Been using mine for almost 10 months now and it is still my favorite portable, and it looks to stay that way for the foreseeable future...

The flavor, the speed, the convenience, the elegance... I fucking love this thing.

Very much looking forward to what this company does in the future.

I had the same thought..."now you give me a coupon!" I'm not in the market for a third FF! However, I think I may order another battery and charger. Hate to have the coupon expire on me.

As for the rest, couldn't agree more. Ten months for me too, and nothing compares to the FF. I really think folks who haven't tried the FF yet don't know what they're missing...nothing matches its coolness and flavor.

Hey all, not sure if this is the right place for my question. If not I apologize and mods can remove.

I'm getting a new vape! Stealth isn't really an issue but is always nice. I DO realize this is the FireFly thread but I was wondering if any of you came from the Arizer Solo since that's so popular here? Is the FireFly significantly better?

I'm looking for a daily driver that I can take with me to a friends on occasion. Which has a cleaner air path? Solo or FireFly? I've read some reviews that say some get particulate coming through when they use the FireFly which doesn't sit well with me to be honest.

Thanks!
Bud

FF is tastier and faster in extraction and heat up and more efficient cause it doesn't cook the load in between hits. They both have clean air paths. FF also hits harder and doesn't have glass stems to break. All in a package. You need to carry extra battery and charger all the time though. Not good off the grid.

Thank you! With that being said I think I'm actually leaning towards the Solo unless somebody here can convince me otherwise? :p

No convincing. The Solo is excellent. I personally vastly prefer the FF and rarely if ever use my Solo anymore.

Points in favor of FF: Superior flavor, more portable, more fun, more elegant (doesn't have gunky glass stem that screams "weed device" from a mile away), easier to clean, fast heating time, swappable battery.

Points in favor of Solo: much cheaper, virtually no learning curve, much longer battery charge.

It all depends on what is most important to you. If you want ease of use and also save yourself 100 bucks, the Solo is perfect. But if you want to experience, on a regular basis, the most natural, coolest vapor flavor you have ever tasted, the FF stands alone.

Yes but the Solo has the option to attach a Gong and F-bomb water filter. For around the same total price as the FF that has to narrow the gap in vapor quality?

The Solo tastes good, the Firefly tastes great. The battery life could be a deal breaker if you want to use it on the go, though

Battery life on the Firefly you mean?

Also Chimay makes great beer! I like Sierra Nevada Hoptimum too, preferably fresh brewed.

Yes, I meant the Firefly battery life. That's really the only downside to that vaporizer that I've seen so far. My preferred Chimay is cinc cents, and Hoptimum is a fine brew. Here in the Bay Area, we live in the best times ever for herb and craft beer -- Pliny wasn't even my first choice at the pub yesterday -- though Oregon, Washington, San Diego, and one or two other regions might have something to say about that as well. I don't think it's a coincidence that hops used to flavor beer are in the same family as cannabis. They just go together so damn well

I'm not really a water-tool guy, so this doesn't really mean much to me. The FF vapor is almost supernaturally cool...if you have a device that fits in your palm and provides you with vapor as cool as another device that requires water, one is, to me, clearly preferable. Even given the extra cost.

The battery life is too short and can be annoying, but the easily swappable battery helps mitigate it. It is, just my opinion here, a way way better portable vape than the Solo, which, to be clear, I think is a damned fine device. The FF is like a luxury car vs the Solo being a pretty nice little CUV. Both get you there. The paths are very different.

Again, not trying to convince you. Get the Solo. You'll be happy with it. I was happy with mine. I'm just a lot happier with my FFs.

Ok, so I've had this baby around a month now and I've learnt a few things, many of you will know these things already but it may just confirm what we already know.

First is we have experimented with a few things, sucking too hard on the FF just doesn't work and it also sucks the product into the 12 channels, which in turn blocks the FF and you certainly wont get big clouds when you do that! :(

Best results we found were sucking long and slow and mixing up breath control up to resistance occasionally and breathing in through the nose then sucking again, being a didgeridoo player would certainly help with this technique IMO.:D

I was into shaking the FF between hits after a while but I found this was blocking up the 12 channels, along with under packing the bowl also, this will hinder your ability to produce clouds, so I don't recommend it, definitely best to stoke after every hit or 2 I think.

As for cleaning the FF I am yet to use the ISO wipes, I just use the brush to clean out the bowl, as for the lid best results are had just rinsing it off under a hot tap for 20 seconds or so, all resin will melt away and go down the drain and the 12 channels instantly unblocked, simple and avoids any mess.

I woke up several times during the night extremely dehydrated and also early in the morning after heavy vaping the previous night, I recommend having a glass of water before you go to sleep, if not a couple whilst you are vaping wouldn't help either. :2c:

Oh, and if you only have 1 battery like I do make sure you have a power point handy at all times. :p

Firefly fits pretty cozily in a ryot headcase, even have room for a pipe tool and battery in there

Mine arrived yesterday, I love it. It fits perfectly inside, and is made of high quality material! Smells and feels wonderful, what a luxury little case! This was the item to complete my Firefly setup, now it's protected and complete :) Thanks for the suggestion!

I have to agree with you totally!! I got mine a few days ago and took the whole setup to an outdoor music festival. Great to have the firefly, cleaning tools, extra battery and the herb all neatly in one place...

Oh, yours arrived too! Awesome. What colour did you get? I went with dark grey and couldn't be happier. It feels like its made out of hemp as well. My hemp wallet and firefly case are basically the same material to the touch/smell/sight. I wonder..

My first FF was great for awhile then it started combusting. Sent back and got brand new one that combusted. So I sent back and received another new one. It is combusting as well. Not sure what to do. They are all silver and someone on here said the silver was hotter. I have tried different material, changing to no warmup but still combusting. UGHHH!

What the... fuck...
Can you give an incredibly detailed and accurate description of what you do from start to finish?
Exact number of seconds for each action, quantity of herb, etc etc
Maybe we can shed some light on this problem and give a more accurate diagnosis?

That sounds...not right. One I can understand. Three is mind-boggling. (There is no correlation between silver and "hotter" devices. There have been some devices with improperly-positioned coils. Those units can run too hot or too cool.)

One one hand, seems hard to believe that technique is causing this...a properly functioning FF isn't going to combust easily, no matter how long you hold the button or what you put in it material-wise. (Nothing can make either of mine combust, no matter what I do...so far anyway.) OTOH seems really odd that this guy has had three bad units. Weird.

Do you draw really, really, really, really slow maybe?

I am still experimenting but sharing the following so far.

I would also like to add that the FF is super clean due to the simple design. So far no combustion! After almost having it for 2 weeks I currently use it the following way:

1) Medium/fine grind (more medium than fine)
2) Fill it up a little over the edge of the bowl and press it very slightly.
3) Keep the heat button for 7 sec on including a 3 sec inhale and then release (only during a cold startup.)
4) Press the button again and start drawing ever slightly (like sipping tea) but constant. You will discover that you can feel the resistance and ideally you should find a constant easy and long inhale with no resistance. I inhale for 30 sec (this where it automaticly switches off and results in big hits) and continue for another 5 sec. Before inhaling I take a couple of breaths.

I get a total of 5 or 6 hits in total (based on my current extremely low quality and dry stash) with a quick shake in between.
1st on is the tastiest with least amount of visual vapor
2nd and 3rd produce the biggest visual vapours and stay tasty
4th, 5th and 6th slowly reduces vapour. Taste also reduces.

This gets me over and above the place I need to be so usually I divide this into 2 sessions.

Going back to the experiment! The sacrifice one has to make...

Q: Does a big vapour hit represent a good quality vape method. Or is less vapour a good indication? Do I want to bring the temperature as high as possible without combustion or should I discover lower temperatures in order to extract something else? Any general rules for this?

Have read much of this thread and do what everyone else does. I stopped the warmup process due to combustion.

I do med. grind, even tried buds, pack loosely, press button and hit it med to hard. I stop when I can't hit anymore, which is as soon as the SMOKE hits my lungs. Tastes horrible and the material is black. Not sure what to do. I have a Pinnacle Pro as backup and glad I have it as it has been several months of packing up and returning units without a working firefly. I can ensure everyone it is NOT the position of the coil as I tried that on my first one and it made no difference.
