Hey guys this is my first thread here on FC. Ive been looking for a vape (it will be my first vape).
Im torn between the Arizer solo and the Firewood. The portability/stealth factor doesn't phase me much as it will be mostly for home use, but also outside va bit.
If anyone has experience with either or both of these vapes id really appreciate to hear what you have to say.
Also a side note, i live in Australia where weed is quite expensive, and i'd like to hear which one conserves better seeing that i'd only buy a gram or two per week (being $20 a gram).
Thanks in advance for your insight.

I haven't even heard of firewood, but I can vouch for Arizer as a company! I have their desktop model vape which does me wonders and is very reliable.
Also where abouts in Australia are you from? I'm from Geelong, near Melbourne. $20 a gram is standard price if you are only buying one gram.. Consider getting ounces so that you are paying less than $10 per gram :) !
If you are close by I may be able to help you out.

Unless you know of a good Firewood seller, I recommend looking at the Solo.

I own both, I prefer the Firewood but this is because it works better with smaller amounts and I prefer quick extractions. The Solo is a great unit though I use it more often than the FW, like a portable EQ (I prefer my Solo with a whip, dd is great as is water).

As an additional piece of info, I can not say that the Firefly is particularly conservative with the herb.. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but the same amount of herb goes a lot longer in my desktop vape than it does in the firefly.

I'm not sure why you narrowed your search between these two devices? I don't own the Firewood,
I've just seen videos. I do own the Solo.

The Solo costs about $160, but Puffitup will price match I've heard. Free shipping and free shipping for returns if that happens.

The Solo is very easy on the herb and has a clean glass airpath. It gives nice tasting vapor flavor and is a very versatile vaporizer. It's very easy to hook up to a bubbler or hydra tube. It can be used while charging. Initially the battery life is about 2 hours, it will degrade over time. All batteries do that.

It's very rugged and durable. Someone just posted that they dropped theirs from a high balcony, and it still works. Check out the Solo thread. Not all 1200 pages, just maybe the last 20 or so.

The Solo is tried and true. It is 3 yrs old. They just did a factory upgrade. You can now use and charge at the same time. The airflow is better. The draw isn't as tight like the older model. Some folks like the tighter draw, I like it easy.

Check out the Indica and the Ascent. The Solo has been tested over time.

I've been running the Solo over the summer. A great vaporizer, and I think it satisfies as a "desktop" unit despite it's handheld factor and having a battery. I get hits comparable to hits from a Silver Surfer, a friend's desktop unit that introduced me to vaping. I've taken the Solo out to parties and other social events, a very easy vape to pass around, because you just tell others to hit it and draw slow. With that said, it's aggravating to have the Solo bumping around in a jacket pocket, and keeping track of the vape, stem, and herb container is difficult when you wanna have a good time. I ordered a Firewood over the weekend to take up the mantle of my dugout from the combustion days. A good pocketable, personal unit that is discreet. I'll update you with how well I like the Firewood

Edit: My Firewood shipped around 4:20 yesterday evening (Lol). I guess I should expect by this weekend at the latest

Still testing out my new Firewood. Overall, I'm happy with the decision to buy it. Way easier to take out of the house than the Solo. There is a technique involved that I'm still getting down, so giving it to others for a hit probably won't work out too well. They'll be disappointed anyway. I've been able to get nice vapor production from it. I like the dugout form factor, as that's what I used for a while when going out. For a quick hit or two the Firewood is a great vape. Someone that's new to vaping, however, may be better served by the Solo as far as ease of use/visual feedback (the Solo makes clouds like smoking).

Edit: I have to say that the effects of the Firewood are felt quickly and its very efficient. Marc (@firewood) is also a solid guy to give some business to, he was responsive to me and his other customers.

Glad to here you like it. Coming from Obama i guess it must be good :brow:. But yeh im kind of leaning towards the solo just because i plan on using it with a fair few people and don't want to have to fiddle about too much, seeing that the solo is so straightforward. If you dont mind me asking how much of a difference is there in the bowl/cartridge sizes? because when i am by myself i try to conserve as much as possible, but i do still want to get stoney haha. Anyway thanks for the info and i hope the firewood keeps serving you well

Lol.. I wonder if Obama's been able to fuck combustion yet? I think an average Solo load is like .1, give or take. I don't really stuff my stem, and maybe do like .08 or something. Firewood may be along the lines of like .05 or something? I dunno. Solo will get you very stoney, if that's what you want.

the solo is a great chocie and good for new people too! be sure to buy some high efficency stems (PVHES) from planet vape then too. Buy 2 at once, eventually you will likely break it and then you will be glad you have a backup. those really up the game. my fave is the standard, straight, 4 hole design, the turbo is too airy for me.

the solo takes about 2 bowls for me to get where i want to be. but when i started using it one was enough back then. :p tolerance...

I like my Firewood, but you need to develop your technic, so as said above it's a limiting factor when sharing it with noobs.

And the often under looked weak point of this device are its NiMh batteries IMO (unless you get the PA of course)
