FlowerMate Vapormax V/V5.0/V5.0S/V5 Pro

V8 may be a pen type device, not a new sibling of the VaporMax........

The FlowerMate VIII, on the other hand, IS the new sibling.

( Man, Just can't keep apace with FM! )
Wow! These Chinese manufacturers move very fast. I think it is only a matter of time before they produce a portable that is equal or greater than the Solo (or even as good in a more portable form). This looks awesome imo. Im going to see if I can order one.

Word on the 5s for flavor and usability? Do folks like it? Let us know before we get too deep into the 8!

It starts off Ok on lowest setting but after 2 or 3 the flavour seems to ebb away. It's more of a generic flavour/no distinguishable flavour. Popcorn taste I don't get till its on red and 15 to 20 minutes into a session. A lot is strain dependant.

I wonder how well their smaller sized pen vapes work for flowers? I couldn't find any reviews or info about them

It's the V5.0, no 's' in the model name. Flavor? It imparts no taste that I can detect. It's certainly usable. Easy to load, which is more than I can say about the Indica, the new (beta) version of which I've been dealing with.

On first inspection, and one small bowl load, the V5.0 seems well made and delivers vapor as it should. I have yet to try either of the two higher temps, but using the low temp results in a uniform medium brown ABV. The mouthpiece screens seem to be proprietary, and slightly smaller than 3/8" size. They're solid around the perimeter for easy placement, but I doubt I'd be interested in paying the price for exact replacements. It'll be interesting to see if they even make replacement screens readily available. For my use, a plain stainless steel 3/8" screen will fit and they're dirt cheap on eBay, etc. The bowl screen is the problem. It's larger than the mouthpiece screens and you get no spare (you do get a cleaning brush, stir tool, and 2 mouthpiece screens). There are straight edges on the rim at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, but you'll need something like an angled dental pick to remove it without ruining it. A 3/8" size screen may be big enough as a replacement. Nothing in the little 6 page manual about screens or cleaning. I'd say that's probably their biggest 'oops' when it comes to attention to detail.

IMO the VIII would be worth the wait due to better choice of temp, digital display, and better battery performance. If you can't wait for the VIII to hit US distribution (get it elsewhere and you're paying to be a beta tester/guinea pig IMO) either version of the 5 is a great buy on Darren's 'blue' plate special. If had to pay more for a 5, like $80-100+, I'd wait for the VIII. It should be a worthwhile improvement. I don't think they'll be competing with the beefy heater you get with the DV Ascent, for example, but for a cheap portable, it looks promising.

The VIII looks longer than the V 5.0?

@max you may find the red setting a bit much I only do a few on red to get the most out of some strains mainly crystal heavy indica ones.

They must be taking our comments on board judging by the evolution speed and nature of the mods. Hope it has chamber light that doesn't cook at the same time:tup:

Dial-a-temp, as in their pen vapes would be my big thumbs up!

Customize your nirvana. A Flower Mate, indeed.:2c:

Hello Lotuseater
Welcome to the forum
Hi all - greetings from Ireland - purchased flowermate v5 (fixed temp) on the basis of your good reviews and great advice - much appreciated!! - quick question - will the water tool ( http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Pinn...be-pinnacle-tube-for-pinnacle/1934230677.html) work with the flowermate? thanks to all for the benefit of your knowledge...
I believe the water tool fits the silicon mouthpiece, but not the glass one.

On another note, I'm half Irish:nod:, and just got back from staying with family in Cobh.
Last thursday I attended one of :leaf:Mark Emery's:leaf:first talks since being released at University College Cork , (met the man himself:rockon:). Just curious, were you in attendance? (long shot, maybe, but a Vapist from Cork... worth a shot:shrug:), wasn't as packed as i'd have imagined:hmm:....I don't think it was highly publicised:\.
Welcome again, and happy vaping:tup:

I didn't realise you said "peanuts". Oops.
I am having trouble cleaning my FM. The heating chamber and bottom screen are heavily stained. I have tried cue tips and alcohol and magic eraser. They both helped a little.

Anyone find a good way to clean the FM?

I use a small tub of vinegar and bicarb soda (go easy as they bubble and expand in reaction to being mixed) to soak the mouth pieces and screens. I use cotton buds and dip them in the same solution to clean the chamber.

Good thing I have patience, and a few other toys.....:brow:

Looks like FlowerMate may have a head to head race with a serious contender. For form & function:

The Weecke C Vapor, Version II

(Notice the pop up MP, no more " Ah, crap! I dropped the *flyin* mouthpiece on the dance floor!")

The 1800mAh battery (vs. 2600 on the Flowermate) doesn't tempt me. Weecke sells Flowermate products and probably copied the basic design. Smiss (Flowermate) is a bigger, more established company, and I like their policy of holding off introduction of products to the US until they're vetted in other countries.

Since the C Vapor has a thread, let's keep the discussion there.

I got my flowermate today and I must say I do like it. After the initial burn off I decided to go ahead and do a small bowl on red just to start. The vapor was hot but not unbearable and I would say the production was about on par with a solo on its higher levels. I was surprised to see a very evenly cooked dark brown load left over when I was done. I need some more time with it to see if it will break its way in to my normal rotation of using my underdog and hammer but it looks promising right now.

Has anyone been able to get a quote on this new one with the screen? No response for me.

I like Flowermate very much, but I am not sure I like how they sell. They need big e-seller to take them on.

new one with the screen?
If you mean the VIII, and you can't get a price from Smiss on Alibaba, it's probably because, as has been posted, it won't be available in the US right away. And you shouldn't refer to the display as a screen. It's confusing since almost all vapes use the other kind of screen.

I am not sure I like how they sell. They need big e-seller to take them on.
If you mean you don't like buying via Alibaba, it's because they're just a hook up site for wholesale buying. I'm sure a lot of vape companies in China would love to have all their products sitting in retail outlets and on on-line sites, but that's easier said than done. If you want a version 5, get one from here. They back the warranty and have good pricing.

Ah, yes, I see what you mean. I am interested in this one with the display, so I'll wait until they start selling it in the states.

If, like myself, you have a fondness for the latest toys, you can prolly scope out one in the European marketplace.

At approximately 1/2 lb ( for the 5S ), the VIII at comparable weight, might seem like a gold brick, in terms of shipping to us across the pond, however.

My two pence.

Wow. I hadn't realized the weight. 183.1g for the V5.0. No wonder it feels like a brick in my jeans pocket. Nearly as much as my GS3 with a Defender case at 196.8g.

It's about the same weight as the DaVinci and virtually the same footprint size with stem installed.

hey everyone, how does the flowermate compare to the solo? looking to get a first time vape and im not sure if i should spend a bit extra on the solo. i want a good first experience and the flowermate looks great, but i just cant decide between the two. ive seen people saying its a disposable so how long does it actually last? i dont really want to have to buy a new vape in a few months. also which one is more efficient/always for more conservation of herb? thanks in advance

Its not really as disposable as much as it so cheap you can purchase it and not feel too disheartened for leaving it behind.

Edit:
It should last you a while but the flavor is poor in comparison to the Solo. I suggest the Imag+ over it. The FM doesn't deliver nearly as well as the Solo or Imag, they really aren't that close in performance in my opinion.

I don't doubt the FM would give you a good impression but I feel the Solo would be the vape you'd want to tell the world about. The increased price has reason, safer materials, cleaner airpath, better efficiency, actual support from the manufacturer, more temperature ranges, the list could continue, the only thing I see the FM winning in is stealth. But I suggest a FW before the FM.

Huge shout out to @mephisto as I become part of the flower mate club! I ended up in the classifieds at just the right time and was lucky enough to receive a cool vape at no cost from a great forum member. Good gravy I love this place.

It's an older model with one temp but I think it will do me fine. What is everyone's standard load amount? It looks like I will most likely fill it 3/4 of the way then tamp it down a bit. These cheap vapes seem to be filling some cool niches in the vaping scene, I feel like with this and the imag I'm set for out and about vaping!
