On the sr74 I have about a 12-16 second warm up from a cold start. Single coil loaded on the heavy side. After the initial warm up it produces vapor almost instantly after a few puffs.

hmm so maybe its just me. I did try holding longer and it produced good vapor..another thing I noticed is the coil floats on top of the oil once it melts

I got the 8 firing my herc 74 consistently now, thanks guys! The frustration of reassembling this thing dozens of times finally paid off. I tightened the gold contact screw all the way, then backed it off a bit, but either way it was still tough to get the button to always fire the herc. So I actually cut down the button spring by 1.5 turns, and now it's very easy to push and always fires. Be careful doing this cuz it would be easy to make the spring too short to push the button out. My button now has a light touch and short travel distance, just how I like it! It was super annoying to adjust, but hopefully I hit the sweet spot.

The herc is purring like a kitten—what an amazing machine! At first, I would get oil in the lower chamber, but has improved between putting in the 2nd coil (even with very stable shatter) and more cool down hits. Not like it matters too much since I can reclaim it!
Are you using the herc with the bottom adapter on the 8. My herc has to go on straight, no sleeve or adapter. Otherwise no power. But works fine on the persei. So if I want to use my nibbler i have to switch tops. Annoying.

@THC SCIENTIFIC how much is a replacement bottom adapter on the Hercules? (The plastic one that holds the sleeve). I think the spring holding out the pins has failed.

I just tried my SR74 with my 8 for the first time, bcuz I've been using just my SR71, and my SR74 won't fire on my 8 either. I believe it's bcuz the little gold contact pin that comes out of the bottom of the Herc SR74 isn't able to make contact with the post on the 8. Even if u adjust the gold collars on the 8 it doesn't matter bcuz the gold pin on the Herc still won't touch it! It goes right down in the center of the collars, so the contact pin in the 8 isn't long enough to use with my SR74! And the button on my 8 was giving me problems again last night, even after I backed of the button and thought I had it perfect. If it wasn't for this button, the 8 is my favorite vape, even for my e-juice too. I wish they'd just come up with a whole new button assembly or some kind of better, more consistent fix for this thing. I get it perfect and then that gold screw in the button must slowly adjust back to the wrong position or something bcuz it stops working on me!

Looks like I spoke too soon—my 8 reverted back to paperweight status! The 8/herc combo was really great when it worked, but for my first w9tech vape, I would've gotten a Persei if I knew the 8 didn't play well with the herc. Didn't they test them together? I'm anxious to learn the ins and outs of my new herc but instead I'm futzing with the stupid button assembly of the 8... :bang:

I've been messing with the screw on mine and its been working good so far. I do have to press a bit firmer but it seems to fire every time. How long are you holding the button?

The 8 discussion can be distracting if you don't have one. But what happens in a Hercules/KISS or other discussion that benefits both 8 and Persei users?

i feel like once the v4 tops are released and the misfiring is fixed, the persei will be pretty much perfect so it'd make sense to move discussion of the 8 to its own place imo

@ diehard :) or any friends --

Im still kinda working on my first rebuild of one of my 3.7 kiss carts
3.7 is my fave -- 4 taste n all --- especially when I can run a drop higher w/ core :)
i went by the incredible guide u made!!!! thx n respect
i put it together -- I used a thick ni chrome till my batch of tit2 comes in :)
i seem to have no issue on the meter --

I can screw it onto an old style 510 3.7 battery with a 510 adapter and it works no problem --
yet any time I put on my v3 persei it just blinks away n won't fire ?
n i put on my hammer top and it glows like a candle but only 60 percent ?

back on basic old battery fires no problem ?

any ideas my friends ?

is my wire maybe too thick -- or too many coils around ?/ or a weird short maybe that persei notices ?

hmmmmmm??

thx my friends

***** i must say though im super impressed with the taste / temp and operation when it is working -- honestly with titanium it would be the same as new or even larger clouds // but thats most likely the large gauge wire used -- more surface area I imagine ?

Hi, I get a V2 persei, 7.4 kiss, sr74 and Core, my persei top blinks 3 times several times when I use it with my Core but it works(sometime it blinks with battery, but less), I'm afraid to make a mistake, could you explain to me why it blinks but still working?

The KISS 1701 Ceramic Donut is pretty amazing! I recommend it!

Better taste then the TI2 KISS and TI2 KISS Globe, heats up fairly quick and does work. I've also noticed the inside ceramic bowl(that holds the donut-wick and ceramic heater) stays really clean due to the functionality and heat of the ceramic heater, which makes the cartridge somewhat "self-cleaning" another plus.

Ok, so I guess we'll stay here for the 8...

The good news is I found a reliable fix for my 8 button, the bad news is I had to bust out the soldering iron! :science: But if you can solder, it's actually pretty simple. The problem IMO is that the button must be pushed hard to get a good connection with both top and bottom pin. First, I removed the bottom gold pin. Then I soldered one end of a short piece of copper wire to the gold contact in the button. I ran the free end of the wire through the bottom PTFE insert, and soldered it to a small metal plate I had in my spare parts drawer. It took some coaxing the button/insert into place, but once it's in, the metal plate sits flush against the insert and makes good contact with the battery. Since the button now only has to hit a single gold post, it is super easy to push and never misfires!

And @DieHard: I managed to cut my spring down about 1.5 turns without fucking anything up. Not sure if I'd recommend doing this, but dealing with a hand injury, I need things really easy to operate.

the persei has a protection feature that cuts power if you shake it around too much (it is drop protection). when that happens the unit shuts off and the light blinks. It happens with batteries but it can happen a lot more often with the, sometimes only blinking and not firing. It is not broken though. It is a connection issue that you can solve by loosening or tightening either the top or bottom cap of the core insert (the handle part attached to the persei head just a bit. I have V2, V3 and Hammer tops and they all work blink free on the core now (for the most part) with this little fix.

I am having the same problems as everyone else with the 8 and sr74 combo. i get very inconsistent results, slow heat up times, sometimes i get contact sometimes not. I have adjusted my switch screw several times. I have checked the voltage and the center pin, and rebuild the sr74 over 100 times. This is extremely frustrating for spending so much money. i hope this can get resolved soon.
