Arizer Solo

Simple Man

Simple Pleasures
I use screens in my stock stems; a lot of folks here do. I use ones that are slightly oversized so they end up domed up a little. The load is slightly smaller and the airflow is slightly improved. Most of all, though, I just hate getting little flakes of weed up the stem and in my mouth and that doesn't happen with the screen. The tradeoff is having to clean the screens. I use a small makeup brush after every load or two to remove blockage and replace the screens when they get too gummed up.

Hi guys...Ive been using the Arizer V tower for a couple of months and love it!!So I just picked up a Arizer Solo!!,I have been reading posts in here trying to get info, tips and tricks.I was wondering are people putting screens in the bottom of the bowl for airflow??

Thanks
Hey bro - :worms: I use a different MO here: my screen goes in the mouthpiece end, deeply, leaving the bowl free to hold a full load (0.09 or 0.10 gram) - this allows easy removal for cleaning & collection of PVO from the stem - I have no complaints re: air-flow volume at all, so I have found this to be the best of both worlds!

Thank's for quick responses....so the dome of the screen is facing towards your mouth and your putting it in from the mouth piece!Got it!!

... oops, no - the curve of the screen is facing the load - the screen needs trimming, then using the eraser end of a pencil, center & mold the screen, then, with the hands of a brain surgeon and the abilities of a Zen master, slowly push the screen as far into the stem as you think is right - try it, you'll like it!

Thanks OF, so its smart charger for your solo, cool, i thought you might have modded the power pack to lipo and they are a little more demanding when it comes to charging.

I was thinking about a lipo back up charger for when im out camping, something i could plug the solo into and get another full charge or 2 out of or power my extreme q with....plenty of time to play with that idea tho

I think LiPO is a poor choice for the internal pack. The voltages are all wrong (two cells won't light it up, 3 is too much. It's internal circuits 'look' for a battery between about 6.6 and 8.4 Volts IIRC. The unit is designed for the dual 18650 pack, IMO the right choice (and the one other vape makers use for machines in this class like VB2 and Ascent).

LiPO has two advantages in R/C, higher current rates and lighter weight......at the expense of battery life. As you point out they are fickle to charge (the stock Solo charging circuit won't cut it). And we don't need either the excessive current or light weight.

As an external pack it would be problem as well. You need to hit 10.1 to 15 with the old version so again, 3 is not enough, 4 would be needed. OTOH, a 3 cell holder full of charged 18650s does just fine, you can see mine in front of my Solo 'traveling case':

It typically gives two recharges using my gadget, sometimes 3. It lives in a side pocket. If I need more, I can simply pack more 18650s.

Good luck with your adventures.

Hi guys
I have a M1A4 Solo which last night dropped out of my pocket & slammed down against my wood deck quite hard
Now my concern is the solo is making a very faint hissing sound coming from the oven during during its heat up..
Would this be anything to be worried about?

Edit: just tried my first bowl in it @ 7 & it shut down before reaching the temp..
Upon restarting it no issues except the hissing is still present
Hope this isn't serious

Hi people,

I just want to tell im one more of those that the solo plate breaks , it's broken some chub around the screw and is giving me fear, there are more small pieces to fall too, I used washers in 3 screws, the fourth sank inward to Remove the screws from the first time, to put them again, it has been cracked up! So im nervous about it! Im talking to @Pipes about the stand...someone have some idea to fix this?
Thanks !

Edit: and this without being given a blow or fall, only using it every day

The bottom plate on my newer m1y has started to chip and break apart around the screws as well. It's been treated kindly, is this something that qualifies for warranty?

Mine too and it's a replacement from them maybe a month or 2 old, no drops orings or over tighten screws.
Email them with a picture of the bottom and the cracked part.( they always Ask for model number anyway) and see f it's covered ,
I was looking into a plexi glass bottom with longer screws.

Wish these be 3d printed??

Wrong material, I think. Acrylic (plexiglass) is very brittle really, and being cast is prone to cracks.....just what we're fighting.

Rather I suggest Polycarbonate ('Lexan'), the stuff they make safety glasses and bullet proof glass out of. Softer (scratches easy) but mighty tough.

A guy was talking making a CNC plate from SS or Aluminum a while back. Which would be great, I'd think?

Remember to not block the vents and account for the shoulder on the charging plug.

@VANVAS My replacement was for my m107 It wouldn't get as hot as it used to.
I would think the replacement has the same warranty. I will have to take a pic of the bottom and ask them if it's covered.

My m1a4 had 3 cracked screws I had asked Arizer if they sold just the base and they said they didn't because the faceplate is part of the Solo. NOT true
I ordered a top cap (wanted just the rubber cap but was told I had to order the whole cap for $5 and they needed the model number)
in black. I will send pictures of my Solo m1a4 taken apart and see if they will send me the just the chassis.

@OF the aluminum would be nice and durable And I didn't forget any of the vent holes on the bottom
Maybe even a 3d printed bottom plate to sandwich the Solo bottom. I usually put my Solo in a Totes umbrella sleeve Fits nice.

Awesome stand @Pipes. I just keep the stand on the Solo all the time.
I don't need to worry about the cracking on the bottom. I can tell my Solos apart.

Got a good crop of tomatoes this year with the warm weather and the dry fall. We are having BLTs
for dinner. Tomato and Basil Pasta tomorrow night.

Thanks guys, I'm so glad you are all enjoying the stands. Makes it worth while for me to know they are been used.
You have compelled me to give an early looksee at my newest design. Improvements on electrical pathway and robustness were part of my goal with the changes. As a bonus, the new design is going to be a little cheaper for me so I can come down a bit on pricing. I'm saving on 30% less resin, two connectors and the LED is no more.
I'm also trying to standardize on the colour but need some feedback to see how the new "MARBLE" look goes over. All the same yet different.

Two types of elbows will come with it so can use either OEM supply or off thew shelf replacement. 5.5X2.1mm connector.

No more circuits in the stand itself as the connector input is accessible via a hole in the back. Connectors colour matches the stand as well. An addition hole in bottom of stand allows to push the connector firmly into the Solo while on the stand. For those who like the connection to stay in the stand a dab of hot glue would hold it in place. Or silicon etc.
Small cavity of un-used space is available for a small stash. (my 30% less plastic)
Also, the sides are slightly thicker to resist chipping.

I will be sending some out shortly to some pre-selected testers to scrutinize the changes.
Once all is cleared by these guys, I'll start a product thread on these pups.

EDIT:
@OF, you will be receiving one as well. A fun mission for you would to see if your "gizmo", as @ataxian calls it, can be shrunk down some to fit into it. A stand that is smart as well and even beeps to tell you its done. I'll send you some un-sealed connectors as well.?

This is a very cool development for sure. Floating the power connection solves the 'reach' problem I have with the two Solos I commonly use. Both are pretty beat up, with washers on the bottom and pads covering that (one neoprene, the other felt). This means that the built in connectors make marginal contact in PA mode they quietly go cold on me, when charging they quit early. I love the old stand, but sooner or later it goofs me up and I take it out again......this will fix that big time.

I think the gadget can fit fine, it's 3 square inches right now, and could easily be half that I'd think. However, I'm not so sure it fits well with the new 'floating connector' idea?

Very cool at any rate.

Bravo Pipes!

I have some Blue Magoo in the GonG with the D020 bubbler tonight along with its perfect pairing the Solo. I thought I would try warm water. I prefer the cold water better. A beautiful fall evening.

My buddy got a Solo a few months back and the inner heater plate chamber thing broke. Does Arizer sell replacements?

I don't think so, the whole heater assembly isn't removable and will break if you take it apart. I think a warranty is in order?

@ataxian, sorry I didn't get back to you, no I don't have any of the D020 series of water paths, I've got two that keep me busy, a small 14mm honeycomb for the flavor and a bigger 18mm with a hammerhead perc (I think it's a Hitman original). Mine isn't an actual Hitman Glass piece, I got mine for a fraction of the price and about 95% of the functionality.

Had to throw the Solo on the @OF charger last night before bed. Nice waking up to a turned off Solo :)

Cool OF, yea i just thought i may be able to use some of the lipo's i have sitting around but going by your setup id be better off with 3 18650's and a caddy to hold them. Ive been looking madly for a case to hold all my gear and didn't once think about a camera bag which is dumb as i have some serious camera gear (another of my obsessions) anyways you have given me a bit to think about and now trawling fasttech.com for some batteries ;)
