Newb, experiencing sore throat

Hi everyone!

I've been smoking green a little over 10 years regularly and recently made the switch to an Arizer Solo. This was due to increasing lung irritation and productive coughing fits that began after about 5 years of smoking out of pipes, bongs, blunts etc.

So I've been using this thing(the solo) about a week and so far it's been great. I'm learning how to mitigate the particle suction, which nearly brought me to the floor because I just wasn't expecting it

I usually use it on temp settings 3-4. kind of in the "middle" of the settings.

My lungs are working again!

However, I woke up a few days ago with a very painful sore throat. Checked my temperature and that's fine. So it went away the next day. So I just vaped one little bowl and the next day I woke up with the sore throat again. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I'm curious if this could be because of the poor quality of the herb where I am. I'm most definitely not in an MMJ or decriminalized state or city.

Is this a noobie thing that goes away? (please say yes!)

Do you think it would be possible to attach some tubing from Home depot to my stem so I'm just not so close to the heat? Could that be my problem?

Hurts so much to swallow right now and I haven't eaten all day.:(

Thank you for reading my paragraph:)

Cannabis is an expectorant, and, thus will cause coughing, especially when there is something to expectorate. You may be allergic to some thing in the new vape (glues, plastics off gassing) or you may have strep throat but if it continues do see your doctor.

Vapor can be very dry. Try drinking some tea with honey and have some on standby when you're vaping to take a sip before and after each hit. Also, try lowering the temp on the solo until your throat feels better.

Thanks guys, I went and got some cepacol(spelling?) lozenges and it's improved but I think I may take a break for a few days. When I open my mouth it looks like half of it is swollen on one side.

Is there a way to neutralize the possibility of the plastics off gassing?

tubing would help My friend uses tubing on his Solo stem
You could use the bent one would help.
I use two straight stems together with eq tube( bowl snapped off)
Try a lower setting and work way up?
Also if you add a water piece no more irritation.
I doubt the Solo is off gassing. If it is don't use it and send it back.
And you did the first few burn offs empty?
if first time vaping you'll adjust I was the same way no need to hit it so hard.

X2.
I have a great vaporizer that gives wonderful, tasty, smooth hits but that vapor is dry. It wasn't harshness hitting my throat---it was very very dry air.
Like lwien said, drink something good like tea and honey while vaping. I'll sometimes have some red grapes
or a piece of mango etc.
You can also adjust your technique by not taking monster hits, take smaller hit and more of them---it'll get you to the same place.
And/or get a small bubbler and here's a tip. Vape with hot water as it moistens the vapor more than cold. Hot combustion hits need cooling. Vapor hits IMO need moisture, not cooling.

Hope you get better

Yeah some cranberries believe it or not brought some relief.. The swelling went down. :)

Now I'm hunting for the tubing and I'm going to order this little ice cooler thing.

Gonna fashion my own desk mount for the device as well..

So that's the end of this thread I reckon.

Thanks everyone for the advice and information.. I'm just so used to taking massive bong rips and holding em in. Finally breaking that habit.

Again, my lungs are back.. So crazy.
