size, battery life. you need 2 of the same size. if youre goign to use 2x 18650's you'll need an additional body tube as well
ahh I see, so if I get the 2x18650 they'll be running at 7.4v but need the ss kit. Starting to make more sense now thanks:tup:. One more question, the website says the 8 comes with one 18350 ss tube. From the pictures it looks like a smaller tube. Is this so I can run just one 18350 battery at 3.4v? And if so, why would I need to do that? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I have everything before dropping some cash on this.

with the short tube and long tube together, it fits 2x18500. it takes 2 long tubes to fit 2x 18650

edit to add: this statement is bases on my Persei and SS kits. I don't have the 8 yet
someone correct me if i'm wrong

What tube set up do you use for x2 18500?
I stack the shorty SS tube onto the standard adjustable tube.

For me it was a nice balance between battery longevity and awkardness, before I got the core. Now I just want to use single 18500s as they last a lil longer than the 18350- no tube exists fot that, though.

i thought you could adjust the spring all the way up the use an 18500 with the regular body tube.

i don't use 3.7v so i never tried

Hey guys quick update on the 8. Some of you have noticed a few members comment on weak power or misfires. I myself have experienced these hiccups. After talking to @THC SCIENTIFIC today I came to realize a couple thing. To anyone who might run into these hiccups, I recommend the following.

@itschad mentioned to me a deformed O ring on the bottom gold post. After checking mine I also noticed a deformed O ring that's pushing the gold pin out of position. It could Also be a twisted o ring causing this. Very little movement but enough to cause a issue. The 8 is a precision device. Meaning a slight misalignment somewhere will cause issues. Check both top and bottom gold pins for proper O ring seating. Thanks to @itschad for noticing this small but important detail.

The top collars/nuts are adjustable. This is most likely the most common user error. The top collar MUST unscrew enough for it to show 1.5-2.0 threads. What I mean by unscrewing the top collar is simply unscrew the top collar to raise the height. Lock the height position with the bottom collar. This is a trial and error thing. Once you get to know the machine better, you will know if those collars are correctly adjusted. Make sure there is a nice gap between the 8 top and the cartridge of choice. Once you have the top collars adjusted nicely, don't be afraid to give the Herc a extra slight turn to get it a little tighter on the 8. About or less than a 1/8 of a turn I would say. You will feel it. I find this to be extra true on SR71 and kiss carts. The SR74 gold spring pin seems to need less tightening. Also during use recheck the tightness of the cart. Many times I find my herc SR71 to need a slight turn to get it to contact properly. Especially after warm. If your cart is touching the 8 top. Meaning fully treading in flush. More than likely you need to adjust the collars/nuts.

MAKE SURE the button center screw in fully threaded in. Deepest it can go. Spring has no go in smoothly. It CAN NOT Be twisted or forced in. Make sure it goes in smoothly and check for smooth button travel before inserting the gold contact pins.

Another critical area to recheck when running into trouble is the top and bottom PTFE inserts. As we know the PTFE inserts hold the gold contact pins in position. A slight misalignment will surely cause problems. Make sure the PTFE ARE FULLY SEATED. all the way in. Also the gold pins must be seated all the way flush on the PTFE insert. They have a stopper. They must be fully touching the PTFE insert.

Sometimes my 8 hits strong. Only to come back later to a weak hit or nothing at all. 99% of the time it's a gold contact pin or PTFE insert moving out of position. I usually push firmly on the gold pin with my thumb. The PTFE Insert as well. Top and bottom. This has cured my problems so far. All it takes is a very little misalignment and hits will suffer. Like I said, the 8 is a precision machine. A small tolerance offset can cause havoc on precision mechanics.

The 8 requires a Firm button push. Unlike the Persei. Button must travel all the way down to get the 8 to fire. If you find you have to SMASH/jam the button to get it to fire...chances are something moved. Use your thumb to recheck the top and bottom parts. Make sure they are fully seated.

Good luck guys! The 8 is a heavy hitter! I will report back on how my 8 performs over the following days. Badass tool !!

Special thanks to @itschad and @THC SCIENTIFIC for the pointers and help.

On a side note, I am now a proud owner of a OKEANOS V2!! After listening to a few forum members over the much improved V2 I sealed the deal today. All I can say is WOW!!! Fucken badass innovation here. I can't believe I waited so long to own this. More to come later....

@Fredster951 Thanks for the update! I am going to order a 8 for sure now. What batteries are you using with yours when using the sr74?
Buy AW18350x2. Best batteries and good price. Proven performers. W9 website has good pricing on them. Basically this is the only battery I recommend for 7.4 v hercules use. Get 2 pairs for no downtime! Lol. Or even better once you master battery power with your set up Sr74 , get the CORE! You will appreciate this monster at home. Another level of vaping. Basically converting your portables into desktops.

Thanks, ordering now! How long does a pair of 18350 last you?
With the hercules they last a good day of moderate use. Sometimes I can kill batteries in a Session. But I like to swap them out once they are about 50-60% discharge. I like fresh battery performance. So I swap them more often than average user I guess.

Do you know if a different battery combination would give me longer battery life with the Hercules?

As of now I believe No on the 8 platform. I know the persei can have a longer lasting battery set up using two 18650 with the addition of the SS kit. Buts it's a rather long set up especially with the hercules. For home use , bAdass. For public on the go it can be a problem. It's nicknamed persei "lightsaber" lol. Maybe in the future optional tube for this set up. Or you can use ther ss kit. It works. Just won't match your fancy 8 finish

ah so the persei ss kit will work on the 8 for use with two 18650s?

I just posted detailed info on how to use 18500s. The 8 comes with a shorty tube allowing 2x18500 use. You would need to stack a long ss tube onto a standard adjustable Persei or 8 body to run 2x18650s. This makes a very long/tall setup, unwieldly.

As of now I would say maybe. In theory yes it works. But I have not tried it to be 100% sure. I know the tubes screw together but I am questioning the different material used. Stainless steel and aluminum. Maybe it won't work. So I cannot recommend it with the 8 for now.

Yes I saw that, just didn't know if it pertained to the 8 as well. How much longer can I expect the two 18500 to last versus two 18350. Also where do you get your 18500 from? Which ones do you recommend I get for the hercules sr74?

The core is nearly a must have and particulalry for the Bender. The Bender by nature kills batteries. Stacked 18350s don't last long, two 18500s is nearly manageable and provides good power, and two 18650s provides good power but the baton is stupid long.

I like the Hammer top for the Bender and use it with the 18350 core insert to make it a little shorter, easier to hold, and with unlimited adjustable power. I like turning down the voltage after starting a session so far, but am very much still learning how to use the Bending unit.
I think I'll get a CORE to power my BENDER! Thank you and everyone for the information needed to make this happen! I was going to buy another Vaporizer and realized the BENDER just needs some fine tuning.

The CORE may be perfect!

You guys think I should go with the xtar xp4 or the xp4c? Only difference I see is that you can manually select amperage and it can charge at 1.0A even with four batteries at once. That would charge 18350 or 18500 faster am I right?

I just received some 7.4v kiss carts, and on one of the them, I think the coil shorted. Only the middle 2 coil wraps heat up. Also, a funky taste. If this is the problem, can I use some kanthal I have to rewrap a coil? Are the kiss carts rebuildable?

Yes they are check the link in my sig.

Edit: @THC SCIENTIFIC I got this cool 1701 lightning fast! I'm just not sure what voltage to use with it.

Anyone have any tips on cloud production for the doughnut? I'm not sure what voltage to run it at. It tastes great, better than kiss carts. seems to run through oil pretty quick too.

Now I need to find someone to rebuild me a 7.4 tr2 globe.
