Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

... I see no reason why that could not be claimed by the second owner........ Did I miss something? ...
I definitely read that warranties weren't transferable but don't remember whether it was at the site or in the manual. Serial number was required for registration to buy additional glass tubes from them so they already know it's an owned unit.

assume the company would push the date back to when they actually started shipping, but do they have to, legally?

My understanding of contracts is such timing is based on the consummation of the contract (unless another time is specifically stated). This would therefore fall back on the 'quid pro quo' idea, that is "something for something". Each side must get value from the other or it's not a contract (which is why you usually can't back up 'he promised to give me....'). So, while they have your money, the contract isn't fulfilled until you get the goods......time starts then as far as I know.

I definitely read that warranties weren't transferable but don't remember whether it was at the site or in the manual. Serial number was required for registration to buy additional glass tubes from them so they already know it's an owned unit.

Unless specifically excluded I think there is no grounds for them to refuse. They clearly understood it might be resold (note the language about original buyer.....).

In a bigger sense, the warranty is part of the value of the product, it should be yours to sell or trade like any other property. In no event can I see how they can refuse to replace it for you should it die, there is definitely no restrictions on what you do with your Ascent in that two year period (short of abuse), you never agreed not to sell it or 'buy it back at the original price when it broke'...........

I think you can safely offer to warranty the unit for the remaining time. The claim might have to be filed in your name but I don't see how they can dispute it or the different address?

FWIW that's my understanding of how this good stuff works.

Could anyone who has had their unit replace tell me whether they only give you a brand new unit or if its the entire package (oil jars, new stems, etc.)

For a while, it was a whole new kit. But then it sounded like they started repairing instead of replacing. Though I did hear one report recently that they got a whole new unit.

Cross your fingers and hope for the best!

My unit was pretty fucked up, i got mine when they were still having tons of problems with their units, so although i had some problems with my unit from the day i got it, i figured i would hold on as long as possible. The LED had fogged up, the bottom grill wasn't properly attached to the bottom, and the battery was dead.

Really im just hoping they throw in the full kit so i can get the oil jars which i lost, wouldnt mind new stems either :D

I've received new kits each time. I'm up to my gd eyeballs in stems. My 5th is in transit now and have been ASSURED by Organix that it's been personally tested. Will update once it arrives.

I appreciate the creativity behind your idea, but it just isn't worth the hassle. Also not worth defrauding DaVinci and potentially/probably screwing a buyer. I'd rather just consider it the cost of finding this forum and someone (you know who) to recommend a plug-in unit that's excellent for my purposes.

Just curious, how's the resell/used market for the Ascent? Are the people that are trying to sell their units able to sell them quickly? Wondering if anyone out there has any feedback on this? I don't see any for sale in the FC classifieds. -bay has about 4, have no idea if they're moving or not.
Rather than give a subjective opinion......I got to thinking.....why not call DaVinci??
Their policy is no. You cannot transfer warranty. A rather simple, correct, from the source answer.

Have emailed asking about this more than once!and never got a reply. As I also wanted rid of unit. So just kept it and will just keep sending it back when needed

I would expect that as a policy, wouldn't you? However, as a practice, I don't think they can avoid their responsibility to the original buyer. Should say Adjadbe sell me her used unit and it dies in the 2 year period I maintain that they still have to replace (or repair) it for her. They have no contract with me, I gave them nothing, but they still have one with her. I can't demand they do anything, she can. She still has a contract with them.

Again, in the extreme I just sell it back to her within the period and they haven't the proverbial leg to stand on.......although they might like to quote 'policy'.

As long as she was 'in the loop' I would not fear lack of coverage.

I get why they might prefer to sell another new unit I guess? It sounds like it worked out poorly for them in that they had to replace a couple of units for you? That's not at all cheap to do........

Part of the spirit leading us towards the holy grail is our awareness of parts of our environment that get us high. Back in the 90's I was repurposing 55 gallon steel drums that held 190 Ethanol. After cutting off the top, it fell to the bottom of the drum. It was hard to get a grip on the top, I struggled for a few moments bent down inside the drum. When I stood up, with the top in hand, I got a pretty intense alcoholic high. It went away quickly, and I had a mild headache from the intenseness of it all. I realized then that insufflation of alcoholic vapors is another different method of administration of alcohol besides oral, rectal or intravenously. I have seen it used to help ease alcohol withdrawal suffering in hospitalized patients needing an alternative route of alcohol administration other than oral. In spite of its rapid and intense onset of effects due to the direct route to the brain, the insufflated alcohol high is short lived and only involves a very small limited intake of alcohol. In 2003 the AWOL (Alcohol WithOut Liquid) alcohol vaporizer was first marketed (sold now by GotVape) . Its efficiency in delivering alcohol was increased so the rate of administration improved to one drink in 20 minutes. But the user was getting a rather intense experience, with dangers of addiction secondary to extremely potent receptor saturation of the brain with such alcohol blood levels. Otherwise you got to experience moderate doses of alcohol, that took 20 minutes to absorb per drink, and you still got hangovers and impairment. The AWOLs are not taking off needless to say.
I have recently added a F-bomb micro bubbler to my Ascent via a 14mm DaVinci GONG. WOW and WOW. It is really nice to get a great 365 rip off the Ascent/F-bomb combo. I have ordered cheap DHGate bubbler from China. Later I will give a comparison review.
I want to continue along the thought of alcohol insufllation. I use water to treat the vapors, and after a while, things start to look grungy with some deviations in good taste. How to clean this thing? (Can you guess where this is going?)
I realized that the bubble would deliver alcohol misting and also that I needed to agitate and bubble the alcohol throughout in order to clean the unit, both at the same time the light bulb of seeking the holy grail went off.
Sure nuff there are postings on this subject, with a lot of subjective opinions reflecting different ideas and tastes. Some people use whisky in their bubblers....I like vodka. Try a few hits of misted drinking alcohol sometime without the bubbler being hooked up to the Ascent (DO NOT USE ISO). The effect is interesting, I doubt you have ever felt that effect before. The bubbler is a inefficient administration device for alcohol. I worked a vaping session for 35 minutes and only used about 3 ml of alcohol. My bubbler afterwards was clean. I noted the alcohol was more efficient in picking up bad tastes than water due to its different solvent properties. After a while the initial vodka flavored great rips began to taste more like dirty bong hits. Using alcohol as a conditioning liquid DOES ADD TO THE RUSH AND BUZZ. Alcohol is not my thing, and I got tired of the effect and the developing headache. I'll probably bubble some, and shake a lot to clean my f-bomb. @Ratchett don't you have some nice plugs to help with sealing the openings when shaking?
So occasionally when my bubbler gets dirty I head to the liquor cabinet for the Vodka, and utilize a slightly different buzz experience to help clean the bubbler.

I got a partial package, but a new Ascent from GotVape. I got a entire new package from DaVinci times 3.
I am fortunate to have plenty of glass stems. I like to have some soaking and others ready to use.

Indeed, I sell rubber stoppers sized to fit small mouthpieces, and a mini plug for male fittings. I do have rubber plugs for the PNWT (custom order), but I'm not sure if that will fit the Fbomb

Hey everyone just got my unit this morning and noticed that the glass is a little rough on the mouthpiece thought about just getting some sandpaper and fixing it but I am not sure which kind to use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I think you're better off removing the glass piece from the Ascent and flame polishing it with a huge soldering torch, though if it were me, I'd complain and get a replacement set.

You should have a spare set in the box, correct?

Well I hate to complain about something so trivial I figured I could just sand it it's just a tiny spot on the mouthpiece

You definitely do not need a serial number to buy accessories from our website. We will also not cover a warranty on a second hand sale.

Can you deny service to the original buyer in the agreed time period? I guess that really should have been 'will you'.

No support for resold units is, I think, a very negative thing to folks trying to decide if they want to try it out. It makes the 'I don't like it' risk all the bigger if folks can't easily resell as with other vapes.

TIA

Perhaps it was required due to speaking with CJ in customer service about buying tubes with bigger uptake holes. I had one set that allowed freer air flow than the others and wanted more like that. He asked me to register w/ serial number and (IIRC) retailer info.

Our warranty is limited to manufacturer's defects. Any physical damage will not be covered e.g. dropping it and breaking the screen or water damage.

We don't know the wear and tear upon the purchase even if the unit appears new to the second hand buyer. The warranty goes to the customer that initially purchases it. I wouldn't go to the apple store expecting them to replace a broken ipod that I purchased on the street.

@ajadbe I am CJ, the reason I asked for the serial number was to register you in our system for warranty and had nothing to do with the glass set.

Thanks for the response, I think everyone understands it's not a warranty against abuse and accident, just failure to perform.

So the original buyer has to present it for service, understood, but IMO unfortunate. But at least it's covered.

I don't own an ipod, but I think everyone would expect Lexus to fix a second hand car under warranty? They don't make you go back to the original owner AFAIK.

Thanks again for the reply.
