Are the d020 and d022 and other glass from dhgate that so many of us use with our Solos knockoffs of some North American product or their designs? Anyone know?

I've never actually heard of or seen proof of truly a fake Solo. Only shady vendors from Hong Kong who offer it now and then at a crazy low price then keep the payment and the buyer gets nothing, not a real solo or fake just a lighter wallet.

:2c: ... :peace:

I'm not so sure about that. We have evidence of 'clones', for instance the Zoly copy of the TV Revolution (I have one and have posted about it), even if incorrectly named "T1". It's a modest attempt, with the wrong sort of batteries and ceramics, but it's very real (came from a LHS in San Jose).

And the good folks at Magic Flight have an entire page dedicated to the various slime ball's and other forms of pond life's 'copies' of their products that have also 'reached the market'. While some may be out and out cons (you get nothing at all for your money), I suspect most will deliver something both to avoid issues and to hopefully get more orders?

Let me ask this directly: Do you have any examples of "shady vendors from Hong Kong who offer it now and then at a crazy low price then keep the payment and the buyer gets nothing"? I spend a fair amount to time and effort trying to keep up with at least part of the portable market and I don't recall a single report of flat out rip off of those trying to 'get over' with a cheaper price. Can you provide additional details on this? They may well exist, of course, but thus far that news has escaped my notice (along with a bunch of other stuff.....).

TIA

Got on a bit ago, but ended up forgetting I was on the PC and stared into space- yet another reason to post..

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know the Solo is a leap and a bound above any other vape I've tried yet so far, lovin' it. Maybe one day I'll find an Herbie while clamdigging..

One more thing, without the community here, I'd never have tried a lot of the vapes I really love now- let alone figured out even 5% of the sciences and mechanics.. Everyone here is rad :p
Especially in this thread :brow:

@OF I think where i first read about it was on the puffitup blog page. They found what they thought was a ebay vendor selling bogus solos on ebay at that time there were a few sellers on ebay that all shipped from hong kong or china with prices like 40-60 bucks. Right after they had ordered one the vendors just pulled up stake without a trace and they were only up on ebay a few days, five at most.

They never received their solo also someone posted here on FC of the same experience at the time.

Hey guys, I just ordered a couple of straight stem replacements for my solo off ebay and neither fit. They were from different sellers, but they were both too big to fit. Have they changed the chamber size of the most recent models, or did I just get shoddy stems?

And reading through the past few pages, puffitup seems to be a trusted seller. Should I be OK ordering a stem from them if I have an older M103 model?

The Stems from my older Solo fit my 2014 Solo. It sounds like you got a bad deal. Puffitup would be a good online store. If you have the older model and you want a less restricted airflow you can by the PVHES stems for the Solo from Planetvape. The airflow is a much easier draw. Any of the vendors on this site are a great resource.

Thanks for the quick reply! I really like the 4 hole straight stems (I'm using one of the old 2 hole bent stems now), so I'll just order from puffitup. They actually have it for cheaper than the ebay sellers that sold me the bad stems.

And if you use a code it's like getting free shipping.
@fake name Did you try while the solo is hot?
Although the 103 didn't have the ring in the heating chamber if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I did. The problem is it won't fit through the metal top-cap. When screwed off, I can wiggle it into the chamber a little. The first of the 2 stems ended up shattering when I first tried to put it in with the top cap still screwed on. And you are correct, no O-ring like I've seen the pics of the newer ones have. Thanks for the help, though.

If someone out the in FC land has a wood steam for the solo could you please measure and post the dimensions of the metal base section, ie outer diameter, inner diameter and hight of the metal fitting.
Im feeling a little diy coming on and am handy with a lathe, got lots of brass , stainless steel not to mention i have nice piece of Tasmanian huon pine and Australian red gum to play with ;)

Oh no! My solo isn't working! When I turn out on, it heats up to the level I've chosen then beeps and turns off. I've had it about 9 months. It also turns off if I try to leave it plugged in. Someone had this problem like 15 pgs back, but I couldn't find the resolution. Thank you all for any help you can give me.

Ovadabong, I have a 3 inch long WonG that I use for a mouthpiece and a Granadillo stem from @Ed's TnT it's about 4 inches. I'm also having another WonG made. The 1/2 inch screen fits the Solo. You'd be better off waiting until you get your unit. I know that's how Ed does it. He get the actual unit. The measurements have to be so precise.

EDIT. It's a 1/2 inch screen I corrected above.

.580 X .510 (give of take, it's a bit ragged). It's about .890 tall, not that that part matters?

IIRC thus far all such failures have been battery related? Remember, the new model is not a true PA, it depends on the battery for part of the power even then.

How was the battery life just before it went south?

If you know of a member that had a similar problem but don't know the resolution, I suggest you PM them and ask.

Good luck.

@OF I will PM that member. The battery life was slightly less right before it happened, but it wasn't too bad.

my lips get hot with the standard glass stem. what's the cheapest solution?

I just use the silicone tip , for an easier draw too .
Even with the newer version Solo .
Yes , that's loaded upside down .
I was experimenting with a bigger bowl size plus screen .

Thanks OF, so its smart charger for your solo, cool, i thought you might have modded the power pack to lipo and they are a little more demanding when it comes to charging. Im into a Rc hobbies as well and i need to baby my battery packs to keep them from going Chernobyl on me during use/charging. I was thinking about a lipo back up charger for when im out camping, something i could plug the solo into and get another full charge or 2 out of or power my extreme q with....plenty of time to play with that idea tho

@OF made this GIZMO that charges the SOLO then shuts off without over charging. It works great. @Pipes made the stand that I use.
I have a lot of water setups and this one I had in storage for a year I put in rotation recently. I had it for a EVO Cloud. Got side tracked and shelved the ideal. Funny because it works amazing with a SOLO!
Lately I'm not feeling that great.
WAKE & VAKE with GSC in a SOLO through a 7mm water tool?
Civilized!

I don't need a 4 x 4 in the city?

I call it a GIZMO!
This is a BETA version.
