Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

I don't own either and have not tried either. However I have read up a bit there too and they both seem to have some loyal fans and positive experiences to report.
Now that you have a few suggestions to look at I would recommend you read up on the different threads and if you don't get the answers you seek there then I would put something up in "ask FC". Now we need to get back on topic with the Ascent.......

Good luck!
I would suggest read up on any of the vaporizers that you are interested in. Like @ataxian says "Cannabis is The Holy Grail." What one person may like in a vaporizer may not be for someone else.
Good luck in everyone's quest to fuckcombustion.

EDIT
I think the bottom line is we each are wanting to live healthier lives using our fav herb whether for medical or otherwise.

And do what YOU like! :) I've started telling that to people a lot. See your influence @ataxian :) :)

Bummer that......another 'Ataxian wanna be'. It's going to happen, of course but many insist that one Ataxian is more than enough. And it's a pity to loose an hombre such as '420 in such a way.

Perhaps all is not lost yet? Professional help????

What one person may like in a vaporizer may not be for someone else.

Once again, clear proof the Lady is wise. Two very key points, very well expressed IMO. Other folk's experience and advice is at best a guide. Hopefully useful information, but no guarantee by any means. Not only are the demands/needs different often but the observers are far from objective usually. Few hard facts mixed in with some other stuff. In the end the choice is up to the individual, the best we can hope for is it's a well informed decision.

And the quest for a healthier (and longer) life is the reason we're here really. While some also are attracted to the stash cost savings, at the heart of the matter is desire for a longer, better life. Not a bad goal, IMO. A reason far better than most to come together and share.

Thanks once again, Lady, for laying out the Gospel of FC in simple terms.

I agree with @CarolKing .
Find what vaporizer fits your life style!
There are many good ones available today!
I liked joints better before.
Smoke it half way then throw away the last half!
Some stoners would roll new joints with their left over 1/2's!
After the first 3 rips I had to pass!
Vaporizing taste so much better!
Some put me in a coma.
Some require a pocket full of batteries!
At some point I will try another portable.
The accent I'm curious about?

I'm on this cannabis priority path!
CANNABIS is the HOLY GRAIL!

When you find a device that works remember the HOLY GRAIL!
@OF would I need a glass on glass water adapter or is this vaporizer only used dry?
Does any one know?

I got my threads mixed up. @ataxian you could use a bubbler with the Ascent. I haven't tried that. If someone wanted to use a tube water tool you would need to buy a stand from @Ratchett, he is an FCer that makes a cool stand for the Ascent. You can also use the stand to load the unit.

Unfortunately the Ascent doesn't stand up.

It is my only vaporizer, however up until the last month or two it was only used once or twice a week as i still relied on a fair share of other methods to medicate, however my living situation has changed and i am in a situation where stealth is more important, so i have definitely been using the Ascent much more often than before. I've been considering adding a 2nd to my collection to compliment my ascent, but it wasn't until now that it was really a priority.

You might want to take a look at the Haze. It's pretty impressive looking on paper. I'm seriously considering getting one. It's always nice to have a backup. Some people that own both units prefer the Haze.

Is the charger for the ascent a 3.5mm barrel connector? Just had a idea of using a usb to 3.5mm 5v cord to use as a car charger for the ascent. They go online for about 3 bucks.

Yes the Ascent uses a barrel charger, but I can't comment on the actual size.

Please note the Ascent uses 9v for charging (3000mAh). A 5v USB will not charge the Ascent without some sort of voltage converter (even then, I doubt it would provide enough amps required to charge the device)

Sorry forgot to mention that part. It won't charge but it will power it. I'm just bored at work and thought it might work. Thought of even using a power bank with a USB for when I'm out camping lol

@ataxian You may want to look into something like the F-bomb if you are interested in running your ascent with water. The F-bomb is an awesome water tool that fits perfectly on Davinci's 14mm stem (sold separately from the unit). One can produce amazing clouds and noticeably cool the vapor, allowing you to take in much bigger hits before the inevitable throat tickle.

There's a great video on Youtube by the Vapefiend demonstrating how well the Ascent works with a water tool such as the F-bomb, I highly recommend it and use it with every Vape I have that is capable of pairing up. Hell, I've had some custom stems made specifically made just so that I can use my F-bomb with other vapes.

Thank you for your recommendation however I am a medical patient and don't like bong like mouthpieces!
I use a bubbler with the portable vaporizer I use currently. I have 6 or more ash collectors with jhooks that work better than a f bomb or pnwt. What I need to know if a 14 or 18mm male end is on the Da Vinci?

So davinci responded and asked for the Serial number of the unit which is said to be located on either the box or the unit itself. I no longer have the box, and they said the serial number would be "below the unit" but im not entirely sure what that means and can't find it... anybody able to help?

DV makes a 18mm and 14mm GonG for the Ascent. I use my WonG lately as a mouthpiece. It's a cocobolo WonG that I had @Ed's TnT make. I'm not sure if that answers your question about the size. The one that I have is 14mm. I just bought it to use as a mouthpiece. If I wanted one for my D020 bubbler, I would have to get the 18mm GonG. I bought the WonG before I had my bubbler. The D020 bubbler works better than the Pinnacle Pro Water Tool.

The serial # is suppose to be by the oven. I have never been able to see mine.

Look for it just below the main body, on the top edge of the swing out door. Next to the bowl opening. That's where mine is.

Thanks! Haha i hadnt cleaned that area thoroughly in a while, so it was covered in some left over crud which made seeing the numbers below it impossible until i cleaned it.

Swing open your oven - It's laser engraved into the black plastic next to the oven

No worries. As Carolking mentions several posts above, Davinci sells both a 14mm and 18mm male end piece.

Very basic and super cheap! I bought the solo when it first came out. I stayed with it because it paired well with water.
I have a few vaporizers I love but leave them in a drawer. I plan to buy a few more vaporizers at some point!
Cannabis being the true Holy Grail anything else is a man made device!
@ataxian Anytime, man. What portable are you currently using?

Just curious, how's the resell/used market for the Ascent? Are the people that are trying to sell their units able to sell them quickly? Wondering if anyone out there has any feedback on this? I don't see any for sale in the FC classifieds. -bay has about 4, have no idea if they're moving or not.

I haven't felt comfortable about trying to sell mine because the warranty isn't transferable. It was used about 4 times/day for 5 months and all glass straws have at least one uptake hole enlarged w/ a drill. How does one put a value on that? :D

My understanding is that DaVinci doesn't give warranty coverage to Ascents bought on eBay, Craig's List, etc. Their site lists the only authorized Internet sellers.

Quick update on my warranty replacement. I received it last Thursday. It was a brand new unit, not a refurbished unit. The vapor path seems much "tighter" than my original. I also did not have any of the "off gassing" issues as I had with the original either. Finally, so far the battery charge seems to last about 20% longer but that could just be a perception issue. All in all I have been very pleased with the warranty process and my replacement unit. Hopefully it will last longer than the original did.

Does anybody know the warranty policy on replacement units? Specifically, does the warranty "clock" on the two year coverage start over?

Of course not. That would be asking to replace a bunch of 23 month old units.......

Specifically the warranty reads "The two (2) year limited warranty period starts at the time of Product's original purchase by the first end-user."

I haven't felt comfortable about trying to sell mine because the warranty isn't transferable.

Are you sure? I didn't see a 'not transferable' clause in a quick look, and the above quote says that the warranty is still at least in effect through you as I see it??? I see no reason why that could not be claimed by the second owner........ Did I miss something?

But in the case of the Ascent, many of us paid long before we received our first units. We all recall that fiasco. So what happens then? I assume the company would push the date back to when they actually started shipping, but do they have to, legally?
