damn

i got new batteries last week (imedion 2400mah) and have been using the LB to revape my MZ ABV and have been greating good results.

today I used it with some shake I had and damn I got some great hits out of it. I almost turned around and didnt go to class it hit me so hard. LOL There were only 4 kids there because of tomorrows holiday.

Hello, just wanted to update my Launch Box situation for anyone who cares. A few pages back I described my problem with the Box not getting as hot as it used to. Like champ3185, I got a replacement LB through the warranty. I use it with the SAME EXACT batteries I used with my old LB, and it works so much better. With the old LB, towards the end there it was impossible to get a trench to the brown vaped stage with one battery. The new one, I get there fast and easily.

To comment on the updated design, I LOVE the rubber push-back thingy for the battery. Makes it easier to use one-handed and prevents new users from burning the load. If I believed in letter grades I'd give it an A+.

The new LB is about 1 or 2 mm wider than the old one. I don't know if that's consistent with the new ones or if they all vary slightly in size.

Finally, the only flaw I have noticed in the new design is the divot in the wood under the plexiglas where the copper ring is exposed. This divot is much bigger on the new version. It's annoying to me because a lot more herb gets stuck in there when you shake the LB. But this is a small complaint.

All in all, I'm pleased. As long as I'm getting high, you know?

update
new lb is a class unit. the battery creates a bright orange glow and its far easier to hit. vapor produces within 3secs, maybe sooner. the airflow is much better.I can see the herbs swirl with just a light pull.I now exhale big clouds if wanted and only pull for 7 secs..before i was hitting it for near 30secs just to get vapor..
cant beat this..Im hitting it right now lying in bed listening to an accoustic version of "Rain Song" gf making dinner atm. Life is so good but to be fair I work very hard and this is my way of relaxing. peace

I'm new to the MFLB (received it last night) and new to FC :) BUT have been a vape_head for years.. This forum has been an endless wealth of knowledge and I think I'm in love with the LB !!!!
After reading your post ISIS I came to the conclusion that I had in my hands the newest LB version (excellent accident on my part) I agree with you that the only fault in the design is the divot under the plexi. It's a VERY minor issue and won't stop me from having a long affair with this fine piece of engineering.. :cool:

Has anyone had any issues with their box tasting like plastic or something close to it? I take good care of it and clean it once a week, it just started out of the blue yesterday. The taste stayed with me all day and night, I tried mouthwash and various other methods to get rid of the taste and nothing worked. I know the herb isn't the issue becuase it's fine in my DBV. Any advice or suggestions to what the issue is would be much appreciated.

Hmmm....do you use the plastic stem? Try removing the stem and hitting it.

It may be hard to tell if your still receiving the taste from the Box if its still lingering in your mouth.

Maybe a small bit of plastic got into your grinded herbs (maybe from a plastic grinder), which melted on the screen. Haven't happened to me (I use a coffee grinder), but it's a possibility to think about.

I did try that as well, I even replaced the stem with a new one. I also kept a battery held to it for a few min, I know Magic Flight suggests that, without any positive results.

I use a Space Case so that's not the issue. I'll email Magic Flight and see what they suggest, unfortunately I bought the box from a fellow FC member so I don't believe the warranty will be valid.

i don't think it's possible for it to get hot enough to pyrolze the acrylic cover considering the proximity, but it is a possibility.

Yea the sliding cover is the only other close plastic part I can think of. Its possible that your letting it get too hot, but there are many possibilities

A tiny piece of plastic could have come from another source, maybe from the herb's packaging, or even from the growers. I bet a very tiny, virtually unnoticable bit of hard plastic could cause a very bad taste.

AgentOfChaos, I'm not sure how your LB got that taste but I'd examine the old stem. My bet is that somehow it made contact with the hot screen.

My experience with bad tastes in the LB (one was too much ISO, the other was an accidentally charred load) is that they do not go away immediately, but if you do a couple of cleaning cycles and then vape two or three trenches the taste gradually goes away. I'm not sure why vaping the loads is necessary but it seems to be.

In your case, plastic has a particularly obnoxious taste and smell so it might take more of both. The problem I'd have is that if plastic came in contact with my hot screen (and frankly I can't see any other explanation for this) then I'd not want to inhale anything from that puppy until I was sure there weren't any traces of plastic left--and smell and taste are traces.

Under the circumstances, I'd contact Magic-Flight for advice. It might well be treated as a warranty issue, especially if my theory of how it happened is correct. The draw tube should never make contact with the screen.

I agree with pakalolo, if plastic was melted on/near the screen, it may just be better to get a new one.

I tore my screen about ten days ago when I was trying to scrape out all the melted kief. I emailed magic flight and after sending pictures of the damage I did to the screen, they sent me a replacement. They gave me zero hassle. All they said was to use the brush and or blow out the unit. Great costumer service with a no questions asked warranty.

Thanks pakalolo, it looks like that is what happened. The stem has a small score mark on the tip, looks like it could have melted a bit. I appreciate all the help every one, I have all the faith in the world Magic Flight will resolve this issue for me. Guess it's time to dust off the Iolite, haven't used it since I got the LB a year ago!

Do you have a newer model LB? Newer models have a rubber-ish ring inside the unit to help keep the trench-screen in place. This might be your problem.

Also, are there any tears or cuts in your trench screen? One day I stabbed a pin-size hole into my LB trench-screen. The area around the small tear started to glow and emit this nasty smell and taste. This might be your problem.

EDIT: (oh, sorry.. i hadn't seen that you guys already solved the mystery...)

Also, pakalolo! Magic Flight said they'd try and send me an older unit LB in the next few days. Gosh, you have to love great customer service like that!

That just happened...
I lost my lb today while playing frisbee golf. :( What a crappy crappy feeling when I realized it was gone. I loved that little guy.

I'm placing an order for another this evening. I don't need any of the extra stuff it comes with. Is there anyplace to get just the lb for cheap? :)

Vapeworld has made things right for me.

if youre a repeat customer, email MF and see if theres anything they can do for you.
