I think often folks that are happy about a unit don't always voice their opinion because they are content. People that are unhappy are more likely to voice their opinions. Due to frustrations they want their voices heard.

On FC. You state your problem then move on. It's hard sometimes I know, remember about the "be nice" rule.

Did I say something that's not nice? I don't think I did.

I am an owner of a Davinci Ascent which I believe makes my posting in this thread appropriate.

I have revisited the Forum Rules and did again read the "Be Nice" rules :).

Why is it so difficult to comprehend why someone would complain about the same issue over and over when the issue hasn't been resolved for them.

Once again, the Lady has a couple excellent points I think. We are hearing from a fairly small subset of the Members "over and over", it's hard to say exactly how many actual units are represented by this.

OTOH not every guy who's a happy owner is going to say so. And very few of those that do are likely to say it more than a time or two spontaneously.

Caution in thinking any one poster has 'the answer' is advised as well.

I think it's fair to say the chance of your liking the quality/performance is way bigger than finding grief?

Well like I said I ordered my stealth yesterday so when it comes in I will let everyone know what I think of it. Anything abnormal that I need to do when it comes in?

The rule you might have missed is:
  • Don’t attack products or companies. You can post your opinion, and you can criticize, but posts written to offend are not allowed.
    • Please do not revisit an issue unless you have helpful information or constructive comments to add.
I've reviewed your posting history and you have been repeating your problem without adding to the discussion. It is time to move on, unless you have something new to report.

It would be nice if a lawyer weighed in on the practice of sending out defective new Ascents to replace faulty Ascents for warenty and making the customer pay for the return of the defective new unit. Any contract lawyers want to comment? I can't fiqure how this is a legitimate business practice. I would recommend only buying an Ascent from a company with appropriate return policies.

I agree 100%. When a poster repeats the same clearly biased comments over and over it is also cause for rejection. Right? From a statistical POV it's just not possible for random distributions in the population to result in most customers having no problems and a few having a very high number. Something else is in play, I suspect we're not using 'standardized observers'? And we've also got a 'statistics of small groups' factor I think, along with the 'self selected' participants. Not exactly science; science is objective observation in a reproducible experiment to test a theory.......which I assume your expert will confirm?

As to "the practice of sending out defective new Ascents" that's a tall claim to make I think. That would be fraud on their part, right? Do you have any evidence to back that up? Good show you're not using your real name, as that seems like an open and shut case of libel (a tort deal, not criminal). I think they could make a good case that the intent was to sully their good name and cause them to loose customers (and therefore money). I could see a guy put in the position of providing proof of innocence (remember, it's a tort court....) and then getting to use his kid's college money to pay for both lawyers and (hopefully reduced) damages.

We aren't conducting research and this isn't science. You and your friend are applying something completely out of context. The forum itself doesn't have credibility and it's inappropriate to behave as though it did. All credibility here rests with individual members, some of whom are experts and highly credible, and some who are posting in ignorance and should not be believed. It is up to the reader to make the distinction (which sometimes isn't easy) but when you do, you simply cannot find more credible sources.

FC exists to provide a means to exchange information about vapourizers and their use. We have a rule against stating opinion as fact, and a clear policy against spreading misinformation. We try our best to enforce these but it isn't easy and we sure aren't perfect. On the other hand, we have provided a way for many knowledgeable people to share their information, and they have. To dismiss FC casually as you do is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It is short-sighted and, by the way, unscientific.

Once again, my vape hat is off to Pak! While I'm not so sure about not being able to find more credible sources, I absolutely agree that the idea is to honestly present the information so the reader can decide. My simple minded take on the reason for this forum is exactly that, help others to make informed choices. That's what attracts me for sure.

Thanks again, Pak, for 'keeping it real'.

Regards to all. It's a beautify Saturday here, I'm about to visit the garden before making lunch. In honor of the thread, I just switched from Solo to Ascent for the adventure. I reloaded it several days back and lost track of exactly which strain I used (there are several in rotation), should be a delightful time trying to figure that out.......

As a matter of fact I do have evidence. But that is not your concern. But I'm not going over the top and talking legal action that consumes your post. It's only $250 bucks.
I am sure readers will appreciate a balanced response, hearing another view.

I'm sorry, I apparently didn't express myself well enough.

I wasn't suggesting you take legal action, rather without the proof that they intentionally send out defective gear claiming it's good is sufficient for them to sue you. You would need the evidence if they knew who you were and thought you were spreading lies (like committing fraud with known defective gear) about them with the intent of doing them harm (like damaging their reputation). You would need something like say a report or memo and proof they had it. Having bad gear would not be a defense unless you could prove they knew it was bad and intentionally sent it out anyway. That's what libel is:
http://dictionary.law.com/Default.aspx?selected=1153

In fact I'm told you don't have to prove the other fellow actually did it to harm you, only that it did (a single, accidental, comment counts). However when they can show you had intent (like doing it over and over), that's when you can get seriously hammered. Tort law, it can go nuts. Very dangerous stuff.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough.

You're right, readers should make up their own minds about Solo (edit: "Solo" s/b "Ascent" per the OP......folks should still make up their minds about Solo, IMO). That is, after all, the idea.........

FC is a where folks can come to exchange ideas about vaporizers. One of the reason I decided to join FC is because the mods do such a great job of keeping things above board. A lot of the other sites people get really mean. I am so glad that it doesn't happen here.

I was waiting for the Ascent for 6 months before it actually came out just like a lot of others. That's when I really started doing a lot of research on FC. There was so much hype and so many false start dates. It seemed like this vaporizer was rushed out the door too soon. People were sending their units back right and left on FC. I sent mine back and received another one in October a year ago.

The anniversary of the Ascent's release date has just passed. It was rough in the beginning and it's not always smooth sailing for everybody but what vaporizer is? We are on the frontier of vaporizers. Better times are a head as technology in the vaping field gets better. New vaporizers come out every week.

If you have a faulty unit it's between you and the company, it's tiresome to hear the same comment stated over several times.

The Ascent serves very well as one of my medical devices when away from a plugin. I have the stealth unit and it seems to blend into the surroundings quite well. It doesn't shout out "I'm vaping cannabis". I have vaporized in public without anybody blinking an eye. I do live in a legal state, but we are not suppose to use cannabis in public.

I agree if someone has to do over 30 burn offs and it's their 5th or 6th unit maybe the Ascent isn't for them. I maybe happy with this unit but that doesn't mean it's for everybody. Good times and Fuckcombustion. Don't stress the small stuff in life, remember we're all only human. I like the fact that we treat each other with respect around here.

Right, thanks for the correction. You were talking about Ascent (although the same holds true for Solo and other vapes.....). I've corrected my post.

The point of unsupportable opinions tossed about as facts being bad still stands. I hope that got through?

And it seems I was also in error in thinking your "I am sure readers will appreciate a balanced response, hearing another view." meant you thought they would use an assortment of views to make up their minds. Information of potential value to them in their decisions, why else would they appreciate it? Silly me.

Thanks again for the correction.

Finally started to use my replacement ascent as solo needs a new battery. This one seemed ok. But I still can't believe the bugs this far into its life. The two problems I have are 1) a bug that stops temp display reading properly(think temp is working just not displaying) and 2) my oil cans will not fit in unit.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Being 4th or 5th unit am disappointed!

Is the unit plugged in when stops displaying temp or is it unplugged? The oil cans for the most part folks are using as a spacer. I haven't heard anybody that has used them with oil or wax successfully on FC.

Thanks ck, I always use them as a spacer as well. I have 4 and none fit in ascent anymore! It displays temp just when you change it up it stays on same temp. I'm sure it gets hotter just temp doesn't change.

Well, my ascent lasted me a good 10 months, but it has completely died on me now. I reached out to davinci, however i may be in the market for a new one vape altogether.

I havent really paid attention to the thread at all for a long time, but it seems to me that davinci has never really been able to iron out some of the issues that have been present in som of their products since day one... is this true?

If so, Are there any portables out there that are really better than the ascent? I loved my unit, but if there's anything someone might suggest i look in to i wouldn't mind considering something else.

Kluz, Your warranty is still good. Send your unit in for a replacement. You didn't mention if the Ascent was your daily driver? A portable cannot hold up to being a daily driver if it's your only vaporizers? If you are a heavy user that is. How many hours on the odometer basically.

It's always good to have more than one vaporizer. A plugin, if you are a heavy user as well as a portable.

It is my only vaporizer, however up until the last month or two it was only used once or twice a week as i still relied on a fair share of other methods to medicate, however my living situation has changed and i am in a situation where stealth is more important, so i have definitely been using the Ascent much more often than before. I've been considering adding a 2nd to my collection to compliment my ascent, but it wasn't until now that it was really a priority.

Sorry to hear about your Ascent. I had one myself and liked it but there were just a few things which led me to sell it. One was the loading and the other was the reliability factor. There were just too many reports of too many different issues for me to hold onto it.

However the taste and temp control seem to be unmatched in a portable and if you read up that is important enough for a lot of people. It just highlights that it's different strokes for different folks.

Right now the popular portables at a similar price point that you might want to be looking at are the Haze (my favorite), Indica (which is releasing an updated version in October), Elevape and the Firefly. Pax is priced there too but I think it's starting to shows its age at this point. Either update it or drop the price (IMO).

However there are a lot of other portables at a lower price point that do well (or better) including the Solo, Flowermate, Firewood and Daisy so this is something to consider.

Of course this is all just my opinion and in the end it comes down to what features are important to you. No vape has it all. The good thing is FC is the place to learn so good luck!

I would suggest getting the glass pipe screen flowers off of Amazon. They are well worth the price. Just use well cured, ground top shelf herb and you will be set. Make sure your herb isn't too damp. Start off at 350f and see what temp works best for you.

There's a bit of a learning curve with technique but do your homework and you'll catch on. Slow and steady draws win the race. Allow enough time for the heater to recover between draws, 30 seconds or so. I prefer using a GonG or WonG as a mouthpiece, just personal preference.

Relax and enjoy vapor perfection. The portable Indica vaporizer and the Ascent both give wonderful vapor flavor.

I don't own either and have not tried either. However I have read up a bit there too and they both seem to have some loyal fans and positive experiences to report.
Now that you have a few suggestions to look at I would recommend you read up on the different threads and if you don't get the answers you seek there then I would put something up in "ask FC". Now we need to get back on topic with the Ascent.......

Good luck!

EDIT
FC is a very tiny percentage of the Ascent customers.

ones that are complaining say the same thing several times. If you aren't happy sometimes you just have to move on.

I understand very well feeling frustrated. I have a particular unit that I had troubles with (not the ascent) I just don't recommend it any longer.

My Ascent is coming up on its first birthday. A portable isn't made to be your sole vaporizer. It can't take the wear and tear that a desktop can, unless it's the Solo. But even that I wouldn't just solely rely on.

Enjoy what the Ascent has to offer. I like the vapor taste that it brings to my herb. The temp controls are awesome. Buy it at Puffitup for free returns if the unit needs to be returned for warranty.
Cannabis is the HOLY GRAIL!
