Induction dabber

theCerberus

Well-Known Member
Thats a Chinese knock-off smart dabb. i believe theres no induction there. questionable materials (plastics near the heater, when it gets extremely hot, and even high temp silicone isnt safe near, concerns me greatly), and smart dabb isnt all that expensive to begin with.

the thing that makes it a dead give away is that these dummies copied the description word for word from smart dabb.

that line
"getting praise at kush expo".... wow.... even stealing credit for the rep too...

Not to turn this into a smart dabb thread but it isnt the greatest e-nail to begin with either. Reclaim builds in spots that are very hard to clean, and there isnt an easy way to carb cap as that dome gets quite hot too.

Salutations TheCerberus,

Thats a Chinese knock-off smart dabb.

So far i've got no reason to doubt this opinion as i suspected the same a while ago myself. There's just too much similarity and i've started wondering why a novel IH dabber should need to be disquised as a "smart dabb" clone... The mystery eludes me!

In addition it's now been more than a week since LazyLathe posted, i'm no longer expecting better news but i'll have to wait like everyone else in order to learn what to think of this product, definitively - not to mention the way it's being advertized, eventually.

...questionable... ...isnt all that expensive to begin with.

Thank you for being direct, that should reset the level of our expectations to something more realistic. Well, hope relatively to this has left through my window with the late summer i must admit!

:ko:

...these dummies copied the description word for word from smart dabb.

Ever heard of the Smok Rocket?...

Rocket-300x300.jpg

"SMOK Rocket VV/VW Mod"

I've contacted a local Québec city merchant and warned him as he was unaware of the fact that Alibaba and 5 other web sites are abusing the expression « ...Magnetic induction application. » while SmokTech themselves have less ambitious claims as i recall. Well anyway the answer was to repeat what was learned from advertisement, apparently initiated on Alibaba and/or at least 5 of its sub-domains of course!

So i wish i could be a little bird to get a chance to witness the day when a client will decide to confront that gullible guy!...

Actually there's no induction as it's just confusion over some "Smart Locking System", e.g. a magnetic lock. aHummm!... Two radically different animals the way i see this, euh...

Then i can't forget yet another false alarm came to my attention no later than mid-May...

« ...it has no coil, so it's heating... ...induction heating system... »

Great! What can we do against this?? :bang:

Once more i wish to thank you anyway TheCerberus, as few members will even care these days!

Salutations LazyLathe,

Doing a bit more digging i have discovered that the heater is a "High frequency eddy current heater"

Excellent!! Thanks to this new information we can find more details now, for example:

This component is compatible with models BK2000, BK3000, BK3200 and BK3500.

One detail got me off-guard though, it's the fact that Bakon's HF series is supposed to be BK3300, so lets take a peek at this other heater assembly:

Maybe not much and yet this may be sufficient hint to help us identify its thermocouple:

Which would mean the tiny (rod) tip is your thermocouple, apparently, and hence the clear insulation wires carry HF power near the MHz range i presume... So i'd be careful where i put my fingers, just in case!

Almost there...
@Egzoset

Remember that the heater is totally enclosed by the Ti nail.
It is also isolated from the airpath.

There is very little info on these types of heaters available for some reason...

The silver rod is the actual heating element.
There is another part that slides over the pin and has a copper top that actually transfers the heat to the Ti nail.

I thought i uploaded a whole pile of pictures of the actual heater and heater head...
Will upload them again to this thread later.

EDI: Also known as Silver Vortex Heaters.

Hi there LazyLathe!

...the heater is totally enclosed by the Ti nail.

Yes, looking at the original setup that's what it seems indeed!

Anyway i'm smashed and that feels good!! Because if we consider what you've shared with us in the "Inductive power" thread then it sounds resonably safe to assume it IS magnetic Induction Heat powering your brand new Green Light Tech. (G9) e-Nail III after all - and there's even more: i simply wasn't expecting this new scenario may also include madame Curie into the whole picture, once fully unfold!...

2nhoyf8.jpg

Well, it's no certainty yet but at least here's what Google has to offer at the moment:

Judging from what i've seen i believe the heater should reach 350 °C in a matter of about 30 seconds, but this would apply to soldering irons and not Ti nails i suppose. Similitudes in model numbers tell me the Xytronic 90/150 Watts soldering irons may be related somehow... Additionally, since 470 KHz hardly corresponds to my idea of High-Frequency then i'll bet you should find it ticks @ 13.56 MHz, possibly.

Too bad it doesn't arrive with an IH nail though!

It is also isolated from the airpath.

That must be the bright side of these surprizing trade-offs!

The silver rod is the actual heating element. ... Also known as Silver Vortex Heaters.

Silver rod? That's confusing me, anything more specific?

There is another part that slides over the pin and has a copper top that actually transfers the heat to the Ti nail.

Hummm... But where would the Curie effect reside? I've seen mention of a custom (alloy) ring in there, somewhere?!

I any case thank you, enjoy the day as you've made mine!

:peace:

@Egzoset Here are the pictures of the heater, for some reason a whole post of mine is missing...
