I thought the single temp model was pretty much the same as the highest heat setting on the 3 step model?
The imag plus can produce some big clouds for a pocket portable too fwiw

I believe the fixed temp models are set at 390 degrees.

The variable is at 385/400/415

So it's closer to the low setting if I'm right on the 390 degree number.

The Flowermate and its assorted re-brands use a fixed temperature that will be familiar to Iolite and first generation log owners: 190°C (374°F).

ETA: So I was told. I haven't measured one myself.

That's just what I read in this thread a few pages back...

Edit -
Page 41 when I asked how the the original compares to the 5s in terms of vapor production:
They hit the same when you use the Red setting. I don't know what you have seen but it's the strongest portable vape in my arsenal. It's not a desktop vape for sure, but it medicates fast and you can get good clouds if you want.

...

And remember the V version is pretty high temp already, ours is over 200°C clearly, perhaps even 210 or 215 (reminds me I forgot to ask Smiss about that!)

:myday: A heads up: last night when I tried to input my mailing address to ( buy a 3 temp FM ) :

http://www.authorizedvaporizerdealer.com/products/smiss-technology-flowermate
The site was a bit squirrelly, RED underlines upon attempts at entry; early this morning I tried again, and succeeded. Kinda.

Unfortunately, the V5.0s, while listed last night now appears as:

"Oops! No Products Found....."

Seems they may have sold out since my futile attempts last night to purchase the 5s last night.

@side4less: You will hopefully restock the item ASAP? :@side4less

Sold out. Bummer. Slow draw McGraw.

He's not sold out yet. I talked to him less than 24 hrs. ago and he expected to have variable temp blue ones to sell as overstock for a week or two.

I just tried a test order from the site - $65 delivered for the adjustable model, and it took me all the way to PayPal's site for payment. If you have trouble with the site I'd just use the 800 number to order. You can still use PayPal to pay, which is what I did yesterday. You sure won't find a better price.

I spoke to Darren yesterday afternoon. Seems like a very cool guy, anyone on the fence Darren was straight up as could be, my card was charged exactly what was stated $59 + $4 for shipping.

I would like to apologize to Darren for questioning his integrity and his business, and also I am very sorry if I created worry on anyone's part to be leery of dealing with Darren. I'm new here, and usually if I see a webstore of any kind with www.authorized______dealer.com it sets off warning alarms in my head. Thats usually what you see web addresses formatted like that sell sketchy car warranties or fake Rolex's. Lol

But Darren is above board, give him a call and jump in on a heck of a deal on a great vaporizer, I've had my black one for a week now that I paid much more for and I love it, picked up another from Darren as a spare. :)

Does anyone who has or has tried both the V5.0 and the variable 5S who believes the 5S is enough better to replace the V5? I could see it if you were really a flavor chaser and wanted to stay at the lower temps, but I get flavor by just hitting the device before it is lit green. And my ABV is dark enough that I find it hard to imagine that I NEED (as in must have) the higher temps. So, I would likely want a 5S if I was buying today, but is it worth upgrading?
I am only considering it because of this deal, and the blue color doesn't bother me, tho I prefer the black.

I feel the Imag is the real upgrade from these devices.

I don't think its worth the upgrade from a 5 to 5S. Taste isn't improved, temperatures are nice but aren't very far apart, not really any improvements considering you could find somewhere to buy a glass mouthpiece.

I would agree I have both flower mates and an imag ,but ouy of the two flower mates I would go for the standard single temp ,I still use it more than the 3 temp one and the bowl seems to last a lot longer ........

But the imag beats both in my opinion as a cheap vape

And as said you can make a very good glass mouthpiece with an eq one, if you like reclaim the straight eq mouthpiece is easier to clean than the flower mate one .....

@max. Wazzup with the AVD site!!?

Got to checkout, after a few attempts at getting my PW recognized, proceeded to complete it, and it is adding "ground shipping" of $16.63, to Massachusetts...:hmm:

Maybe phone is the better way to get thru.

This is a website problem, since others have also been getting incorrect shipping charges. I don't know why it's happening, but I strongly suspect it's related to their attempt to price the blues for overstock sale. I did mention the issue when I talked to the guy 2 days ago. It doesn't happen to everyone. I could have ordered via the website, but I saved a couple of bucks by calling the 800 #. Nobody has to pay $15-16, etc. for shipping.

If anyone trying to buy a blue one at the special pricing, from the website, is getting a shipping charge of more than $4-5 (for a total price of $64-65 for the adjustable temp model), then your best bet is to order by phone. You don't have to give out any credit card info over the phone if you're concerned about that. He'll send you a PayPal invoice if you like. You can also just tell him what you want, supplying name, email addy, etc., and then use the info@ email addy on their site to send the money immediately, which is what I did. I got an email confirmation of my order a day later.

This is a great deal, since I feel sure that this dealer will back the warranty. I also believe he's selling the blue overstock (both fixed temp and adjustable) at his cost, judging by alibaba/smiss pricing. He's just adding $4-5 shipping to cover his costs.

It lasts longer because the temp is lower than the low setting on the adjustable model by about 10 degrees F.

Anyone find a good way to clean the FM?
I've used rubbing alcohol for cleaning both smoking pipes and vapes for many years. It's all you need. If you let the vape bake the residue on, it's gonna be harder to clean, but it's always come off for me if keep at it.

So if the constant flashing means it's too low to heat a bowl due to low battery how do you work out when to charge? (...) How many sessions has everyone got off a charge.

Well to answer both questions, I get more sessions than with the Ascent, battery life is pretty impressive (I think amongst the top of all current portables from the mAh figures I've seen) but I never bothered to count... And well yes it's hard to know without a battery indicator of some kind, and several times lately I prepared a bowl in my FM and turned it on just to see the red flashing light...grrrrrr!

Unfortunately I will have to avoid this one since I have a Nickel allergy. Those are not uncommon. Having it on my skin a short while gives me a nasty rash, can't imagine what inhaling microscopic bits might do to my lungs over time. :( boo!

Awww bummer! I don't know to what extent there are really microscopic bits coming off unless you scratch the bottom of the bowl though.

I have really enjoyed my flowermate a lot . Its one of the best purchases I have made this year. I have been wanting to open it up and clean the insides but I am afraid of breaking it. What do you think guys can this be done safely?

There's nothing to clean inside the unit. I wouldn't open it, unless you need to service it.

I have noticed the flap that covers the mouthpiece slot is loose a bit and can flap open raising the prospect of the mp falling onto the floor. Any one else noticed this?

Yes, my 5S has tight doors but the gf's V (or we could just call it 5?) has loose ones. This is has been discussed earlier in this thread: you can apply some pressure on the part of the aluminium body that is protruding (ie the door walls) and it will be tighter.

I'm still trying to determine the exact size of the plug connector for the Vapormax charger, I'm measuring 3mm.

Hm no it's 3 dot something from memory... ok just checked it's 3.5x1.35mm Male Plug.

I'm a little disappointed by my flowermate. I'm not sure if I'm not putting enough in there but I normally don't load big amounts in any of the vapes I have. I get pretty wispy results from the amount I put in there. I'm not sure if I'm asking too much from battery powered unit?

Well it's a portable not a desktop. But how much are you packing your bowl? I find I get better results when I use the included tamping tool and make a puck (like with all conduction vapes) The other day we had a session that seemed to finish too early, I opened and checked and bingo: the puck had been lifted (prolly due to shaking the device) and was not making good contact with the bowl walls and bottom. I put it back in place and vapor production restarted.

Now after using it it for a while I am starting to see trace amounts of vapor, same herb, same everything. What gives?

Same question about your packing habits as above. Maybe you got a defective device, but lighting is important too. I'm a bit surprised because my FM performs really well here, and consistently.

The Flowermate and its assorted re-brands use a fixed temperature that will be familiar to Iolite and first generation log owners: 190°C (374°F). ETA: So I was told. I haven't measured one myself.

That's what people said earlier in the thread, but having both units at hand (and comparing to the Ascent) I'm really not so sure. For me it looks and tastes clearly above 200°C. I forgot to ask Smiss about that, I'll do it later so we can have a definitive answer.

The taste of the 5S on blue is way better than the V which I assume is equivalent to purple or red on the 5S. But even blue is a bit too high for me. We're not talking about getting flavor for a couple of hits before it's hot, taste is better for the entire session on blue. I'll need to check side by side but the ABV looks darker on the V, and it's darker than anything I can produce with my Ascent.

Sessions are also longer on the 5S if you go through all 3 settings to deplete the load.

I don't think its worth the upgrade from a 5 to 5S. Taste isn't improved, temperatures are nice but aren't very far apart, not really any improvements considering you could find somewhere to buy a glass mouthpiece.

Yes temperatures could be chosen better and I asked all thread readers to give their opinion so we could forward that to Smiss and hopefully get them revised. So far few people have answered.

On the other hand I completely disagree for your taste remark. The V tastes like ABV after two hits and it only gets stronger afterwards (exactly like when I start my Ascent directly above 200°C) but with the 5S the taste on blue is okish for a longer time. I won't lie to you though, it's full-on conduction and of all my vapes it's the one tasting the worse. But still it's a real improvement over the fixed temp version.

I'm waiting on an answer from the company on that now. IMO it's a bad idea to have a fixed temp vape operate at nearly 400 F, and it sure doesn't make any sense that a bowl would last longer at 392F or above, vs. the 385 used as the lowest setting on the 3 temp version. It's a fact that the higher the temp used, the quicker the bowl contents are vaped away. I don't know of any fixed temp model on the market, past or present, that's set to run above 375-380, and I'd be disappointed if that's the case here. That said, I don't understand why they decided to set the low end of the adjustable model as high as 385. IMO it should be no higher than 370 at the low setting.

it's full-on conduction
100% conduction means that all heat supplied is due to contact with the hot metal surface, and when you have a small heating chamber with heated air flowing, you're also getting convection and radiant heat.
Yes temperatures could be chosen better ....
Couldn't agree more. The low end should be lower, with more distance between the 3 temps.

My issue may be my taste buds, very sensitive. I can taste adhesive. Out of all of my vapes its consistently got "that" taste. I actually enjoy the taste of abv and conduction vapes, but when inhaling from the FM with nothing in it I am very dissuaded to use it over all of the other more pure vapes I have. But I think the T-Vape taste pretty good while others seem to find it to be foul so maybe we are just getting different vapes.

I would prefer a range temps 180C to 230C with an increase of 5 or 8 C every click.

My original FM is def hotter than blue on the new one plus they have halfed the session time on the new one so going through all three settings is pretty good with a stir in between :) , I have two fixed temp vapes that are set very hot , the wispr2 at 210c and me imag which is slightly hotter ......

I'm doing something wrong given the rave reviews. The draw is so tight on either the glass or plastic mouthpiece that not much comes through. I've tried different ways of packing. I'm back to using the MFLB with a wall connection.

Maggie you can drill or bore out a few holes in the bottom of the mouthpiece where there's that 5-hole screen. That should ease up your draw considerably.

Change that stock screen and put a ss one in while you r there change the screen at the bottom of the chamber aswell I found as mentioned that the stock screens block very easily .......

One question though.. My glass mouth piece seems a bit loose. Meaning I can twist the glass inside the metal screw piece that goes into the unit. Is this normal? It seems to hit just fine, no air leaks that I can tell.

Anyone else experience anything similar to this?

I found that too, especially once it's hot. I guess the rubber seating expands and lets the glass move around more. I fix it by screwing the mouthpiece in until its only just held in by the thread, barely tight. This way, if you want to put the mouthpiece away straight after your sesh, you will be able to unscrew it by holding the glass rather than having to wait for it to cool down so you can grab the metal base. Hope this helped!
