Should I give Vaping another try?

Hi All. Just joined up yesterday and am looking for some advice. I have been smoking weed for 20 years now. I am from the Ireland so have always smoked weed mixed with tobacco. I really want to give up the tobacco and am seriously thinking of giving vaping a try again. I did give it a go a few years back and bought an Iolite but was very disappointed with the vapour quality and it really didn't do it for me!

I have been doing a bit of research over the last few weeks and am seriously contemplating buying an Arizer Solo. I know that there are lot of different vapes out there but the Solo seems to fit the bill for me? What do you all think? Will it convert me to vaping or should I try another vape maybe a Desktop unit?

You should try it again, you can get vaporizers that are leaps and bounds above the iolite. The Solo is a great vape but you need to be ready for 10 minute sessions. I think a more powerful vaporizer will help you get into vaporizing, they'll give you a little more versatility in regards to the length of your sessions

A couple lower cost options are

The Da Buddah Vaporizer is a desktop but it should be relatively easy for you to obtain overseas (like the Solo) The Da Buddah or any other vape made by their manufacturer (7th Floor) is going to be safe, high quality, and time-tested. You really can't go wrong.

If you're set on something portable that will hit hard then check out the Lotus Vaporizer. Yes its butane-powered like the iolite but that's the only thing it has in common, don't let that deter you.

Hard to say if the Solo will do it for you. It's a good choice if you want portability but don't need stealth, but it's far from the biggest hitters available, and it sounds like you need a vape that will kick hard. There's nothing wrong with the vapor produced by the iolite, other than the fact that's it's not variable temp and it's a pocket portable. I smoked 15 years longer than you before switching to vapor, have been vaping only for many years, and can still be satisfied with an iolite session. Mixing tobacco in makes it all the more difficult IMO, to easily adust to vapor. You'll need to go vapor only for a while in order to make the switch successfully. You have to remove the effects from not only tobacco, but smoke, before you really discover the 'cannabis only' effects of vapor.

I grew up on tobacco spliffs as well (we're rather close on the map) and I must say, it takes a bit getting used to the nicotine free cannabis high, but I urge you to keep trying. It gets better and better and better.

In the night time though I use snus tobacco to get that combo feeling, but I guess thats illegal in Ireland, so maybe try an e-cig as well. If you're not planning on kicking the nicotine habit as a whole, rather than just the smoking, that is.

But yeah, when you go vapor only, as @max said, it all becomes easier. The friends I have who has bought high quality vapes but still smoke cigs and spliffs have a harder time getting adjusted to the vape high.

It is a cleaner, clearer high in a sense. I think the Solo might be a good choice. It's solid, it works, it has different heat settings and it's tried and tested.

The Airizer Solo is a very popular vaporizer.

However, If you're patient enough to learn the technique - I suggest you look at the Lotus vaporizer - it's butane powered, and fits on a 14mm GonG joint - it's an extremely potent vaporizer, and very FAST (once you learn the technique) - It's a wonderful sensation if you're the type who smoked bowls/water pipes the whole time like myself.

Thanks Everybody for the replies. I sort of knew that i didn't give the vaping enough time to get used to the first time around and probably thought that it would be the same experience as smoking a joint but am better educated this time around.
I will probably buy both a Desktop and Portable vape. I do like the look of the Lotus Vaporizer but need something that i can use in the car which is why I thought of the Solo. Any other recommendations for something I could use it the car?

Salutations Endatheworld,

...always smoked weed mixed with tobacco. I really want to give up the tobacco and am seriously thinking of giving vaping a try again.

Appreciate the irony: i gave up hashish smoking that was mixed with Deutch blond tobacco in 2007 while i had quit the later in 1995. I really didn't wan't to abandon my cannabic habit but only heard of vaporism near the end of 2010, which serious prompted me to evaluate it using an HerbalAire at 1st, then my modded VaporGenie pipe (a favourite of mine); but here's the catch... I've gradually acquired a form of cannabis-related intolerance, probably allergy from being over-exposed in permanence while this may have got much worse when i started some modding experiments, actually, as i suspect this may have over-sensitized me to the point of being allergic.

So, the result may be that i now need to consider an inverse evolution of sorts, since my only alternative might be to quit vaporism altogether - not to mention i'll never want to get involved with any e-Juice frenzy, etc. Though i'm curious about "SNUS" which i know absolutely nothing about.

:rip:

By chance i've started playing with blends recently and it feels much more appropriate to me so far, in term of secondary effects i mean! To a point i see potential for a transition to some "SNUS" like scenario where proper cannabic dosage would spare my old body but i'd still enjoy what's the closest habit to smoking/vaping i could have imagined 4 years ago. A warm lighter in the right hand, the pipe on my left in the veranda. It's magic, too bad i can no loger appreciate a full blast without facing discomfort, eventually, e.g. sore eyes that won't stop crying, rafale sneezing that makes me chew strong-tasting gum every 3 minutes (to stop it, weird hey?) - and of course, dry couphs that seriously compromize my serenity.

At the moment that's all history, waiting to re-occur as soon as i'll try to abuse my restricted range of application, so to speak... But that's me! YMWV.

:D

What do you all think?

Really i can't like it more than any other electric vaporizer because i've found out a long time ago that cannabic dryness must be avoided at all cost or there are consequences i shall need to assume.

So overall i think i envy your luck if the Arizer Solo provides you portable satisfaction. At least i like their bent Glass Wand which i've used extensively with my venerable HerbalAire - now collecting dust because i'm intolerant to dryness which causes me to cough systematically, also because on top that there's something about weed that irritates me on contact.

So you see i'm almost jealous.

As for a table unit, i'd say get both: have one you can trust then another you find convenient to carry around. Unless you don't plan to vape outside?... Personally i call them my "Plan-A" and "Plan-B", hoping some day i find them both into a single "Bi-Energy" device!

And more...

Anyway, for a desktop unit i'd say look at balanced combination of heating modes (e.g. convective/radiative/conductive heat, in this order of preference). Convective is praised in our community no doubt but it requires to much pre-heating work for my taste, conductive can be efficient but that's certaily the type that renders people most apprehensive i would think, then there's radiative which is often found as a mix between the two. That's my perception at least.

The firefly is a good, heavy-hitting electric portable vape. The batteries run out fast but are removable and charge fast as well, making it ideal for car use. The lotus also offers great hits but needs that torch.

Yo! I'm from one of the few places in the world where snus is bigger than smoking tobacco, feel free to PM me if you're curious.

I know ALOT of Swedes and Norwegians who are longing for a cannabis snus, maybe it will come now that snus is entering the US and Canada - two of the international cannabis strongholds :science:

It's still illegal in the EU outside of Sweden (it's homeland) and neighbouring Norway, which is absurd.

Sorry for the off topic :)

Da Buddha for desktop and Solo for your car would be a good combination. But if you only vaporize herb mixed with tobacco your results will be limited.

i would get your nicotine from either an ecig or snus. or quit the tobacco completely if you can.

Guys, I think you must of misread my post. The reason that I want to give vapin another try is because I don't want to be smoking tobacco anymore with my herb.
Thanks

If you still have your Iolite, give it another go. It's a decent enough vaporizer if you use 3x butane or better. Not a heavy hitter, necessarily, but good enough for you to gauge whether you want to pursue vaporizing.

Unfortunately I don't have it anymore but I am now suitably convinced that vaping is the way forward thanks to all you guys. Just need to pick a Vape! I swear I have changed my mind 100 times since I first posted. There is so many choices and so many vapes that people recommend. The portable one seems to be the hardest choice as they all seem to have there pros and cons. I am down to 3, the Pinnacle pro, the Solo or the da Vinci accent?

Will a solo hit as hard as a plugin vape with a heating element almost as big as the solo is? No, but it will get you very, very stoned. Once you figure out how to pull without overwhelming the heater, you can take massive hits easily.

portables don't hit as hard as plug ins as a rule; the technique is more sipping than pulling. But the Solo hits harder than most other portables. if portability is not essential, consider a desktop. The logs are the most efficient, IMO, and pack a good punch, and the SSV and DBV hit very hard.

If those are your choices go with the Solo. It is the better made of the three. This unit has been time tested. I suggest you do some research. Look through the Solo thread and read through the last 25 pages.

Go with any of the vendors on this site. Make sure you choose an authorized seller is the most important. You never know if you need to use the warranty.

Good luck with your quest to be free of combustion. It's always good to have at least 2 vaporizers. If you choose a desktop and a portable that's a wise decision. It will be the most important thing you can do for your health.

The Herbalizer is expensive but I am saving up. Also hoping in the meantime the price comes down a bit.
