Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

I stealthily experimented with my Ascent (now named Guido Sarducci, because it amuses my loving and non herb-using spouse) at a "no smoking, but vapor pens okay" movie establishment last night and nobody said anything about it. Not even the people I was sitting right next to seemed to notice it. The LED is way bright, though and I had to change my hold on it to not blind people. I expect the smell of popcorn helped mask it somewhat, but I am continually amazed at the stealth of the DV product line.

I took mine out this weekend to the grocery store as a, "let's see who stares". Well it did quite well! I like taking mine everywhere now. While on the road at night, I too had been bugged by the bright light. I just got some electrical tape and a blade; cut it to screen size as a blackout.

Can't stress enough how much I love the portability and taste of my herb from my Ascent. Will be buying a new bubbler and water tool attachment very soon!

If you are going to buy a bubbler I would suggest the D020 bubbler off Dhgate website. The last I checked $29 shipped. Look on the cheap glass thread. No sense spending $100+. You never know when "oh shit" happens. You would need the 18mm WonG or GonG for the D020. I use mine mainly for a mouthpiece. I've never used my Ascent with a bubbler.

I use my bubbler with my Solo.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look into those. Does the wood stem you bought really give the vapor a different taste?

In the beginning you get an earthy taste from the wooden stem, which is quite pleasant IMO. Over time the wood ages and absorbs the oils from the different herbs that you are medicating with. I really enjoy using the WonG with my Ascent. A nice way to taylor your unit. Wood doesn't break either and adds a pleasant spice to your vapor taste

@Ed's TnT makes the best wood.

I propose the possibility of two sources of the vapor/smell problem .
The first and most obvious is the curing silicone that cures in a few high temp runs. The smell tends to fade away quickly on all of the six ascents I have used.
The second less obvious source that I suspect from descriptions in posts is soldering residue. It has a. "Burnt Electrical" taste. I would guess its smell is more persistent and rarer than the silicone taste.
I don't know this for sure . Maybe it will ring true with someone's experiences.

By the way folks, please don't feel like I've forgotten about you! I have been pulling tons of shifts lately so I haven't been able to sit down and tear apart the broken Ascent yet, but I picked up a precision screwdriver and have (I believe) determined exactly where I need to go to dismantle this device. Here is a sneak peak of the damaged unit and hopefully a promise of what is to come in the next several days.

Sweet! Thanks!

FYI - unless I'm mistaken, the two rounded black sides caps are installed with with adhesive - pry those off to expose several screws which you can then dismantle the unit

Hi everyone!

I am trying to find a good place to buy an Ascent online.

Anyone know some ongoing good deals?

Currently I am just waiting for massdrop to get fulfilled, last one the price was 180.

I wouldn't mind if I have to pay a bit more, I need to get an extra set of glass tube.

Thanks in advance!

So using the water 14mm adapter (even without a water tool to attach to it) has proven to improve my vapor clouds immensely, even without flowers.

As well as using this https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/184272172/dva-tamping-tool?ref=listing-shop-header-1 between sessions. Very handy tamping tool.

These are the two things I can recommend to improve the Ascent experience without fiddly little glass objects that make unloading/loading a pain in the butt.

If you are experiencing any air leaks the GonG or WonG gives you a tighter draw. I prefer a bit of a tighter draw with the Ascent that I have. Your Ascent maybe different. I've had mine for a year, come Oct Sometimes it's just personal preference. What works for me, may not be something that works for you.

You'll have to do your homework and see how the Ascent performs. See what works for you and your vaporizing needs.

What does GonG or a WonG stand for?

WonG is wood
GonG is glass
PonG is plastic
To attach a water tool to your vaporizer. They come in 18mm or 14mm

So, I finally received my 4th replacement of my ascent (First/Second: OLED screen smudging. Third: Stopped charging.) I received my 4th and, right out of the box, doesn't charge. Works while connected to charger, but when removed only shows that it's holding 1/4 of the charge. Never used. I've contacted DaVinci about this and they're going to "repair" my current device and "test it extensively" before sending back. I'd previously said that their customer support is great, but thinking about it retrospectively, maybe they're not. They're very pleasant sounding and nice to talk to, but when it comes to "rule and regulations" they've very strict even when it defies all logic. Five units thus far; (four faulty. Fifth is TBD)is too much for anyone to have to deal with. I do though because I think it has the potential to be awesome, but they should allow people to throw in the towel and get a refund after X amount of times sending it back. I've never had so much trouble with one companies product before in such a short amount of time and for them to have sent so many bad devices after the first one is beyond me. I don't know how that's possible. I realize I'm an unlucky person when it comes to this, but where does a company stop following rules and regs and start being empathetic and doing what's right? Issues like this should be handled completely different imo. Not trying to flame Organix, but to inform potential buyers. Eventually you'll have an awesome device, but it may take several returns and $50-$75 dollars extra in shipping on top of your $250 dollar device.

I could not agree with your post more. Your experience mirrors my experience almost exactly. You would think that customer service would adapt to somebody who has had so many problems with their product and their warenty service.
The product is awesome but let's face it there is a problem with this company.
And to make it even worse, like salt in a sensitive wound, people on this forum will blame you for making this happen, rather than accept that the Ascent has problems. Don't listen to their false suppositions. There are at least four of us on the fifth unit in this forum. The odds are that the forum pundits Ascents will fail too.
I would keep getting it fixed. Sometimes you will get lucky and get a long lasting unit like I did. No other vap can match it"s abilities. Talk nicely to the supervisor and maybe he will bite the shipping. He has told me they were going to send me a return label before.
So sorry, I totally empathize with your plight.

Really glad to hear I'm not alone. Starting to feel crazy. It'd be one thing if I had heavy use on it, but many of them I never even got to touch. They're sending bad units on top of bad units. Doesn't quite make sense. It should last longer than a year, but man...just gimme one year. One solid year with a working device. THAT'S all I'm sayin.

If I had to send a unit back that many times, I would request that the company pay for shipping. I would be willing to pay shipping 2 times after that it would be a bit much. In the states it's about $11 to send one back. Sending back 5 times, that's almost 1/4 the cost of the entire unit.

The company should appreciate how dedicated you are to this vaporizer.

EDIT
I guess you don't have much of a choice at this point.

@virtualpurple Did you get a new ascent yet?
I saw somewhere they had them on sale for $180 last night, but I was vaping oil and I was on another planet called Persei!
I barely remembered to remember, but I did!
I've been searching to tell you!
I found it once, I'll find it again!

Every time I enjoy my ascent I dedicate my session to your fallen homie my friend.
:rip:Mr Ascent.

*EDIT IN*
$212 at E Z VAPES with FALL15 coupon code.

I'll find it cheaper.

I have been enjoying the reclaimed resin from my glassware. While not as nice tasting as a bud, the medication provided is significant.
I soak my glassware in a small vial of ISO using a pipe cleaner to rub off the resin during the soaking. When after many soakings, and the ISO is black, I pour onto a glass plate. I place the plate on my cable tuner allowing its gentle heat evaporate the ISO. I scrape off the resin with a razor blade.
I take a 2 rice grain sized piece and roll in herb forming a pellet that I place in the oven within a glass flower packed load. The resin is sticky and covering with herb allows handling. Placing the pellet on a bed of herb keeps the oven a little cleaner (melting resin).
You will notice significant vapor production and medication effect from the resin. Long after the herb has vaped, you can taste and feel the medication from the resin cooking.
For those with a tight budget, this reclaimed resin stretches your medication dollar. I get a couple of grams of this potent resin per run. It goes a long way when using 2 rice grains worth per load.
Enjoy!

i am on my 4th ascent i had to return from the uk cost £20 a time and then got caught for customs when they sent the new one back each time costing another £20 starts to smart when the overall cost doubles, let alone down time of waiting for shipping back and forth. i haven't been able to recommend the product to friends because of the problems. i must say i still love the device though but i have held back from buying a second

Buying a second unit does help as a backup that you will probably need. You expose yourself to more frustration and return costs from breakdowns with 2 Ascents. I believe the odds are favorable that you will get a durable unit that will work for a while. I have two Ascents that I work hard every day since May 25th without problems. Repeated two foot drops have not caused failures.
Isn't it strange how we allow grace for this product when it fails so much, because it works so well.

Or possibly double the angst and cost if a back up ascent packs up too!

Which is why after my First Ascent died, I immediately purchased an alternative vaporizer from another manufacturer with as few moving and electronic parts as possible (for me, I ended up with the Lotus).

Having a spare vape is always a good idea, having two of the same kind doesn't make sense to me when there are SO many options out there

i had a choice pay to get the ascent sent back or save for another different vape as i don't have the spare funds to purchase several vapes
