My 81yr old mother receives hospice care for her Stage 4 cancer. She can't manage her nausea and vomiting with the medications that have been prescribed. To my delight, she's surprisingly open to trying medicinal cannabis. She's a bit afraid of the novelty of the issue; her angst is with the technical side of things. I made it much worse by showing up with my DaVinci Ascent, a quality device but complicated to the point of driving her nuts. She has no dementia; this was simply a dumb play on my part.

I have a wonderful, inexhaustible top-shelf oil for the N&V. It is a closed loop compound that mom responded to almost magically when we tried it out. Unfortunately I'm temporarily in NY and she lives in Oregon. Hence, I'm in need of a simple, portable device that won't overwhelm her. Could anyone suggest a high quality, easy-to-operate (portable) vaporizer for oils?

Money's not an overwhelming issue, save for her depression-era psychology. A gentle learning curve with relative ease of use is. Thanks for reading.

Hey. Welcome to FC

Maybe a dabbler or an UP Tech KISS cart? I am not sure how much dexterity she has for loading though. If that's an issue maybe pre loading a bunch of standard ecig carts like a protank with an EJmix concentrate blend for her would work better. Good luck I hope you find something that works well for her.

Puffers, thanks for writing back. Unfortunately she has Rheumatoid Arthritis, and it does interfere with her dexterity. I like your second idea. Am I correct in assuming that EJmix is something that would thin out the oil without interfering too drasticallywith its heat transfer?

Is she shaking a lot? If she does, loading oil in any device could be cumbersome…

The simplest machines I can think of would be VB2 and Herbie. For portables the Muad-Dib.

@LowWater

I am sorry to hear about your mom's cancer.

Currently, I'm looking into making RSO or Rick Simpson Oil. Just wanted to chime in about this on the chance it's something you'd consider looking into for her. Once you get the dosing correct, seems very easy to maintain.

Thoughts and prayers that you find what works quickly!

I have learned that in Oregon, some medical dispensaries have disposable oil vaporizers. Inhale on the mouth end and an internal battery and heater create vapor from pre-filled cannabis oil. It shuts down after 8 seconds.
When exhausted of ? inhales, throw away the device. Somewhere I read 60-80 inhales, but it may have been at the last link below.
One company, Golden Leaf Extracts in Canada sells 1 gram CO2 sativa, hybrid and indica units. Hopefully someone makes a high CBD pen.

In the picture is a "formulated for a level 6 experience" (2,4,6,8,10) hybrid pen; 59.5% THC out of 68.25% total cannabinoids (must also include a carrier). Ignore the other two pictured medicines.

Now in California, this preloaded replaceable cartridge, reusable-rechargeable vaporizer system is available.

I have never owned one, but maybe the solo? You press your desired heat level and then wait for it to heat up by looking at the lights, and then it is ready to go. She could dab the oil onto some cotton and place it in the bowl(oil side up!).

Correct Ejmix is a carrier fluid of specially blended ecig fluids to keep the oil suspended in the fluid and homogenized. The preloads can be really hit and miss as far as potency but if she doesn't need high doses that could work for her. The Ejmix may be more then she would want to deal with for loading though. Honestly after hearing she has RA I think Dave is on the right track with using an edible concentrate like RSO for maximum relief and less hassle.

get her a flower vape and make her up a batch of "shatternugs" by rolling or soaking flower in gently warmed shatter consistency oil? works great in the several vapes i've tried it in and it should be easier to handle and load than a straight oil setup.

also, kudos to yer mum for being awesome!
