Indica mouthpiece mod

Hello FC
As you all probably know, I am a HUGE believer of drilling out the mouth piece on the Indica. It is the first thing I do to the Indica when I get it.

Although the hole in the beta Indicas are larger and do make a huge improvement, I like to match the MP hole with the ID of the air tube.

I have PMd many people to see if they have tried this mod. Surprisingly few have. I don't know if it's because they are afraid of ruining the mouthpiece, or if they are just plain happy with how wonderful the Indica works in its stock form.

I have had many Indicas and I have drilled out the mouthpiece on every one. IMO you get much less draw restriction, better taste, and better vapor.

I have tested the heat to temp to make sure that was not an issue and it was not.
When doing this mod, you also still retain the inner horn inside the mouthpiece that keeps herb from being sucked through into your mouth if you go screenless (I personally recommend NO SCREEN), but that's my opinion.

First I will show you how simple drilling the mouthpiece is to do.
Second I will show those of you with the black beta units how to enlarge the silicone tips hole.

This post is for instructional purposes only! Do so at your own risk. If you are concerned this may void your warranty, I'm pretty sure it won't because the MP is detachable and is not a permanent part of the unit, the unit itself would be the only thing to have the possibility of a malfunction. But if you are unsure if it will void your warranty PLEASE CHECK WITH MIKE AT INDICA FIRST!

I TAKE NO RESPONSABILITY FOR ANYONE DAMAGING THEIR MOUTHPIECE due to lack of skill, carelessness, or random mishaps.

What you will need:

Your Indica

A drill with a drill bit slightly larger than the stock MP hole, a 2/32nds, and a 3/32nds bit and your mouthpiece.

A good torch. any kind will do.

A larger diameter poker, or a coat hanger works too. just make sure to get the proper diameter.

Unfortunately I had already drilled the MP out before I decided to take pics, so I will use the MP tip as a size comparison as they are roughly the same.

Drilled out MP on left. Stock size on the right (the MP tip)

I suggest first taking the MP off, the drilling it out in slightly larger steps on a block of wood.
I also suggest wearing gloves and safety glasses as a precaution.
I did this by myself so I don't have the drilling process pics. I'm sure you know how to drill, here is the final result.

As you can see, drilling the MP out does not affect the horn on the inside of the MP.

Now for the silicone tip
To make it go from this size...

To this size

Heat up your poking device

Simply poke through the existing MP tips hole

So now your silicone tip should be about the size of your MP hole

Upside down pic with the silicone tip on showing the horn is fully functional

Final result

As you can see, you can enlarge the MP & the tip quite a bit allow less draw resistance, and the horn in the MP remains to keep your mouth free of debris!
This is a great mod if you choose to do it. I would say the draw restriction is 30% less at a guess, you will notice a huge difference for sure!
It definitely makes the Indica even more enjoyable!

I wasn't able to blow clouds like this on setting #2 prior to doin this mod

Sorry for such a long post my friends. I really do love this mod and wanted to show all of you how easy it really is, and if you have a beta unit, enlarging the tip definitely helps out a ton!

I also highly recommend soaking the silicone tip in coconut milk and you will not have any unpleasant taste.

Whether you choose to do this mod or not, the how to information is here for you now.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this long post my friends! If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to PM me!
:peace:

I took the horn out as well while doing this mod. Works fine even without a screen!.. Great suggestion Dr. vape!

Not knowing what it was for, i wiggled the drill and then went from inside....
@Gardenerjeff if your horn is gone, and you do start to get particles in your mouth from drier herb or a finer grind, you can always put a small screen or a small piece of cotton in the mouth piece.

It's nice to see that other people are modifying their units as well to get better performance!

The Indica absolutely is fantastic stock!
I'm just never satisfied leaving well enough alone!
There's always room for improvement for anything, no matter what the case!:)

P.S. When you drill out your mouthpiece, drill it from the outside, not the inside as not to destroy the inner horn.

:leaf:Indica DIY water tool adapter:leaf:

Here's my DIY Indica water tool adapter for your Indica vaporizer.
For this demonstration I will be using a 14mm planetvape F-bomb (planetvape.ca Fine glass for vaporizers!) water tool.

To make a water tool adapter for your Indica only a few thing are needed:
-needle nose pliers. free
-3 9/16 O-rings. 10 cents
-1 1/2 O-ring 3 cents
-W9 Tech oil cartridge mouth silicone mouth piece. (W9Tech.com The best oil vaporizers period!) Free if you have W9Tech gear or $9

Take the silicone mouthpiece and stretch it with the pliers and stick the Indica mouth piece into it. Make sue to get a good portion of the Indica mouthpiece is into the silicone mouthpiece. 1/4 inch in my case.

Roll the (3) 9/16ths, then the 1/2 inch O-rings down the silicone mouth piece so it looks something like this.

Place mouthpiece back on your Indica.

Now push the water tool down on the mouth piece so the O-rings make nice tight seal.

The F-bomb feels real snug and secure on the Indica now. Enough so that I am able to place my Indica on the table without fear of it falling off.

Now you can enjoy nice smooth hits through your Indica with your 14mm water tools.

Impressive work @Vape Dr. As usual, you have found the most practical and least costly way of adding incredible value to this little work horse. Thanks :)

Well done.
The silicone mouthpieces can be purchased for as low as 25¢ each.
Find them at the following link, to get 5 for $1.25 while the sale lasts.
Normally they are 5 for $1.90
http://www.litecigusa.net/E_cig_Try_Me_Condom_Covers_p/510-tryme-cover.htm sells them for
Thank you @Vitolo! I had a few mouth pieces sitting around here. I appreciate you finding them for pennies on the dollar! That makes this a DIY for anybody that has a buck! Very nice, thank you so much for the link as well!

Just following up - can anyone comment on where the actual cold air intake for the Indica is located? I think it's the oven, but I can't confirm until I have the unit in hand (even then it looks tough to tell).

The air intake is strictly through the edges of the chamber door. We worked and reworked early on, the chamber gasket to to avoid any seepage that was brought to our attention in earlier posts. All electrical components are sealed in the Plastic housing. The Vapor path is completely isolated. The Plastic housing sits tight in the Stainless Steel shell. In later iterations even more so when there was mention of air access through the opening around USB port.

Hope this clarifies.

:leaf:Indica DIY water tool adapter 2:leaf:

Hello my friends! Here is a new water tool adapter I came up with tonight.

What you will need:
Needle nose pliers
Heat source (portable heating fan works good)
One 1 1/2 piece of silicone 5/16th ID
One bar glass
One Planet Vape 14mm SOLO glass GonG apapter

First,
Remove Indica mouth piece.
Take off silicone mouth piece if applicable.

Stretch the silicone tube with the needle nose pliers in front of your heat source using the bar glass to keep the pliers open.

Close up.

Next, slide the silicone tube down over the entire mouth piece.
Place pliers in opposite end of silicone tubing and stretch the same way in front of a heat source.

Close up.

Slide SOLO Gong into the other end of the silicone tubing all the way to the mouth piece, with the 14mm male side out.

Place mouth piece with Gong adapter back on to your Indica.

Place F-bomb or your 14 mm water tool on glass Gong.

You can now use your water tool with your Indica, again!
The Water tool is on there very securely, no worries.

Enjoy!

Quick question, you mentioned the UK version will be silver, apart from this does it have all the other version 2 refinements? also if i had my heart set on a black version how long before i can expect to pick one up in the UK?

When I get a working unit to try and it's everything everybody has been saying i'm going to be hoping for an official gong/wong/pong attatchment. It would be cool if the actual company made them but i understand why it's usually a third part. Hopefully somebody tries to figure it out. I'd imagine wood would be the most practical.

I was about to pull the trigger on this but something said to look here first. Glad to see there's a v2 coming shortly. My state doesn't have legal marijuana for medicinal purposes so I use herbs like damiana and chamomile to assist with chronic pain instead of taking a whole lot more prescribed painkillers. How effective will my blends vape in the new version?

Just wait a few weeks..... I've got plenty of ideas lined up for the Indica.....

Yeah an official SonG (steel on glass( adapter should be very simple, it can connect to the indica like the normal mouthpiece, except the top is sized for 18mm. And sell one for 14mm as well (or even better, one that is angled with a slope so it fits both!). I'm sure that will be released once everything else is sorted out and the v2 is in full production.

I was going to hold out for something like this (especially since I need 18mm, don't have a reducer yet), but now having @Vape Dr. 's wonderful written tutorials I may try to rig up something for 18mm connection myself too, and I've actually never tried a mouthpiece mod either...

@Vape Dr. has quite a few thoughts and designs for in line as well as accessories related to water tools and bubblers, A new age vaporization Lenardo D. if you asked me.

Once the V2 is officially on the market, I'll be open to dialogue as we look to develop both integrated and proprietary options in this category.

I spent a good part of yesterday testing out this beauty:

Hi pakalolo, thanks for this great vid !

For the same amount of vapor/thickness, does the indica seems to be more hot to the lips ?
Also do you think it will be easy to remove the top cap TOTALLY ?

I think it's 4X times more discreet to vape with the indica without this part ....

Thanks !

My V2 Black Indica that I have as a beta isn't hot on the lips at all, even higher temps. The mouthpiece can be taken off and the unit can be used without it. You can take it off to clean. The mouthpiece cover is made of a soft silicone. It's very soft on the lips.

The unit itself doesn't seem to get overly hot at all. The oven door is hotter than the rest of the unit, but even that isn't too hot.

You can wrap waxes inside the herb and vape that with no mess. I tried vaping the wax inside of cotton and it worked great. To be on the safe side I do clean out after.

This unit has stealth:
wonderful vapor flavor
ease of use
easy maintenance (cleaning)
spacer
doesn't use a lot of product
use while charging
beautiful
well made
long lasting battery
fun

In addition to what @CarolKing said, you can easily remove the silicone cover from the mouthpiece, and I have. I believe the purpose was to keep the MP cool but I've never had a problem with it getting hot.

The MP is supposed to be removable. Mine was not easy to remove the first time, but it's loosened up.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that @GoGlass was referring to the swinging lid and not the silicone mouthpiece when he refers to the "top cap".

The silicone mouthpiece does nothing to detract from discreetness, whereas the lid might.

If my assumption is correct, no, there is no easy way to temporarily remove the lid. I wouldn't want to permanently remove it for aesthetic reasons, but I suppose there could be a permanent solution for those so inclined.
