VaporGenie

I can get usually 2-3 really thick clouds from 3/4 packed. Gotta be dry and fine though.

I loosely pack mine to near the top of the bowl before screwing on. I ALWAYS get four hits, with the last one getting the popcorn taste.

Just ordered a Vapor Genie off Vapenow.com. Got the Purple one :p.
This will be my second Vaporizer. I have a Vapor Brothers and now this will be my portable or for when I'm too
lazy to fire up my VB.

Hey can someone with a Vapor Genie try this for me and let me know how it goes?

Here's what I was thinking and it won't take much effort to test this.
After you fill VG with product of choice screw ball on then cover top of filter ball with Tin Foil.
Take tooth pick and prick hole in middle of foil direct center of bowl. Hold lighter over hole and let her RIP! =)
Tell me how that works out. I figure that will prevent sooting up your filter and control heat better.

Please someone try this.

Thanks

I have one and there is no reason to do that Plasmah. You won't soot up your filter unless you take the flame in really hard. Trust me, when you get this thing you'll figure it out pretty quick. When I first got it I thought it was going to be hard, because people were telling me it had a learning curve. I was getting thick vapor on my second-third tries.

Thanks Jikaboom123

Appreciate that info.

Will report back when I get mine.

No need for foil Plasmah, you will soon get the hang of it, you'll be blowing thick clouds everytime.
Unless you're outside on a windy day, this is where the iolite comes in.

Tip: put an ice cube in your mouth when you hit the genie, this cools the hot vapor. Anyone else try this for your throat?

I hold a little bit of water in my mouth and percolate the vapor through that - it does take some practice. I'm going to try the ice cube next chance I get but it seems like it might be a little cold.

Let the cube melt in your mouth for a few seconds, once you hit the genie, it will melt fast.

The glass Genie was scheduled for a redesign. Don't know if they've done that yet or not. It wasn't holding the ceramic filter in place very well for one thing. At best I think it's more of a novelty design than the original. Since it's glass, the non-glass parts get a lot hotter, so it's not quite as much of a stealth portable. The glass is the best quality though (Schott), so it should be durable. And it's nice to be able to see the vapor. But at $100, well you can get 2 classic Genies for that.

Used my VG for the first time today. Thanks to all the tips here
within two bowls i figured it out. Did not use much herb and was very satisfied.

The most amazing thing about VG is the mileage you get out of your herb. VG is the perfect portable vap. Solid hits with no burn.. no need for ice. Four to five solid hits before reloading. As for fire.. any ole lighter or even match works perfectly.

Yeah, until you get out into the wind. I think the Iolite is really the perfect portable vape right now, but kinda expensive.

And yeah, I agree about the milage. When I first went off of the spoon and went into vaping with the VG, I was like WTF? I used half of what I typically used when I smoked to get to the same high. And then, when I got the PD, it got cut in half............AGAIN.

The VG is a great vape though. Probably THE best "least expensive vape" out there.

That's a shame to hear, because the glass pipe is why I got a VaporStar instead of a VaporGenie a year ago. I was thinking of getting the glass VaporGenie soon. It looked damn good.

To all the new genie people, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a piezo lighter, per the manufacterers suggestion. The rare-earth metals (flint and such) that spray out of a bic when you light it over the VG, all end up trapped in that ceramic filter. This crap is TERRIBLE for you, and will collect and collect in that filter over time. Please remember to use a piezo lighter, or be mindful enough hold the bic a decent distance from the VG when sparking it. Here is the data from the VG site regarding the dangers of REM:

We recommend using an electronic ignition (piezoelectric) lighter (or the Ital Hempwick lighter) instead of a conventional flint lighter. Flint lighters produce flint dust, which is visible when a flint lighter is ignited. This flint dust contains "misch metal", which is an alloy of rare earth metals (neodymium, samarium, cerium, lanthanum etc). Rare earth metals are known to be toxic. Hence, we think that inhalation of flint dust should be avoided. And the best way to avoid flint dust is to use an electronic ignition lighter. Please note that the issue of rare earth dust inhalation is not specific to the VaporGenie. Anyone using a flint lighter to light a cigarette or smoke a pipe is inhaling rare earth dust. Any smoker concerned about their health should use an electronic ignition lighter. Below is an abstract describing the toxic effect of rare earth metals on lung tissue. Not good. They are slightly less toxic than cadmium to lung tissue.

Cytotoxicity of the rare earth metals cerium, lanthanum, and neodymium in vitro: comparisons with cadmium in a pulmonary macrophage primary culture system.
Palmer, R J : Butenhoff, J L : Stevens, J B
Environ-Res. 1987 Jun; 43(1): 142-56
The rare earth metals cerium, lanthanum, and neodymium each were evaluated in an in vitro cytotoxicity assay system using adult, male Sprague-Dawley rat pulmonary alveolar macrophages. Both the soluble chloride form of these metals and their insoluble metal oxides were studied. For comparison purposes, the cytotoxicities of cadmium chloride and cadmium oxide were also quantified in this test system. In general, regardless of the cytotoxicity parameter measured, i.e., cell viability, lysosomal enzyme leakage, or changes in cell surface morphology, cadmium was more toxic to these cells than were the rare earth metals. Of the rare earth metals studied, lanthanum chloride (lethal concentration LC50 = 52 microM), cerium chloride (LC50 = 29 microM), and neodymium oxide (LC50 = 101 microM) displayed significant cytotoxicity in this test system. Cadmium chloride exhibited an LC50 value of 28 microM, and cadmium oxide 15 microM. These findings suggest that rare earth metal fumes should be considered as cytotoxic to lung tissue and therefore potentially fibrogenic.

Not sure if this was posted before, although I have read this whole thread. Regardless, stay healthy people!!

To be honest I think they are just trying to sell the lighters.

I guarantee it's more harmful to mow your lawn than use a Bic.

Well, I just use cheap refillable ronson comets, got em at CVS. I think it is a highly reasonable concern considering you are sucking said harmful dust into a dense hot permanent ceramic filter where they collect and accumulate over time, especially with frequent use.

If they collect on the ceramic filter, what is the issue? It's not reaching your lungs.

I don't think this is a trivial health concern at all, and I don't understand why it's being viewed as such. If stuff like this doesn't concern you guys, maybe you should be on CombustionisActuallyOk.com ;)

It's dust particles of a confirmed toxic material being continually released directly INTO THE AIR PATH! No, the ceramic filter isn't going to protect your lungs from toxic metal dust, it's not designed at all to do that. Maybe that's why this warning comes directly from the person who actually MAKES this pipe. What it will do is collect in there and burn, off-gas and nicely distribute the finest of those hot toxic particles right into your tender throat flesh.

...OR YOU COULD USE A FRIGGIN' PIEZO LIKE THE DIRECTIONS SAY. 99 cents, oh no scammery. ;)

I agree. Why take the chance? When I first got the VG, I got a cheapo piezo for a buck. Fact is, it works better than the 19.00 dollar Vector Elio that I got from VG, and I'm still using it after refilling it about 20 times. Just get some good fuel like Vector butane. Works great.
