Hello FC!
I have had a pretty sweet experience thus far with my new UPTECH gear. After receiving my Persei and SR-71, I have had nothing but great luck with it. Initially I broke down the herc and put it back together about 10 times so that I knew I would be familiar with it. Then I loaded up .4, let it soak in, and threw in another .25.....After that it was cloud city! The only issue I am experiencing is the coil riding up the upper chamber. I have been following the thread the last few days and will try to implement some of the techniques people have shared. ( I am going to wait until I need a cleaning to mess with the coil).
I am definitely glad that I decided to make the switch over from Thermovape. I hate to see them go, but I feel comfortable now knowing that I have G and the rest of the UPTECH family to keep me rolling!
Thanks again for all the helpful information everyone contributes to this forum.

Edit: One thing I am wondering about.....I get nice vapor production from the SR-71 but if Im being honest, I get MUCH MUCH thicker vapor from my CERA. The CERA EO is 3.7V, the Herc is 7.4......am I missing something? I realize that the coil riding up could be the culprit but I have pushed it down each time before i rip it and I still have been getting what I consider an average amount of vapor.

I got thicker vapor from the cera too. So much so that you could choke on it lol.

I still enjoy the vapor a lot from the herc. It doesn't seem weaker or anything, but like you less visible vapor there etc. Not sure why.

Few factors.

May I know How long are your hits?

Before I answer your concerns.

I'm taking short hits. I know I can crank it up, but my tolerance can't handle it :p

I am sure if I took a long ass hit I'd get clouds. Or I could go heavier on the button etc.

The longer you hold the button, the hotter it'll get, for quite some time. If you're after a thicker hit, letting it heat up a little longer before you start hitting it will also get you thicker vapor. Try initially hitting it with cigar style puffs until the vapor you exhale goes from a wisp to a light fog.. then give 'er a lungful :)

That's the thing with the Hercules heater the way it's designed is to give a full on vapor not hybrid vapor. In gradually heats up and does produce large amounts of think vapor.

How long does it take to get to the point where you are wasting a ton of oil with the herc on fresh batteries? Ive been taking lighter side hits for sure. I need to conserve oil and I'd hate to fly through it too quick.

Okeanos shipped yesterday and got it today, so nice living an hour away. I saw someone say fill it to the bottom of the U on the decal, I thought they meant P but when I was done the water was exactly at the bottom of the U. It's kind of weird but I sort of don't mind a little water actually as long as it's fresh. Taste was great though, even better than my globe. After the second hit I checked the coil and the wax was totally gone, I got 2-3 pretty good hits off it still. I love the black wick.

Though on a sad note my ti gr 2 globe coil is making all my tops blink 3 times, old one still works.

If you're trying to conserve, i would suggest the kiss carts. The Herc is a bit of a fat ass IMO

As long as you stay on the lighter side and not ride the button your good, as far as wasting you don't with the Herc. You'll be the cause of the waste meaning you produce more vapor then your lungs can handle. That's the great thing about the Herc it's slow heat process that allows the end user to dial in how much vapor they want and not waste any. Ride the button and get the lung full you only get with TET devices. See from our research wire heaters give you 1 setting and that's full blast at all times.

With the Herc you get gradual increase so stop where you want.

Naa if dialed in the Herc is the most conservative of oils when taken into consideration that you can recover 100% of your oils in the Herc.

When I got my herc dialed in I went from using 3/4 of a g each day doing dabs and using crappy oil pens to using around 1/4 to 1/2 a day in my herc (and srill some dabs). The herc seems very conservative to me. I throw in .15 at a time, and i'll get three or four sessions of three or four big (for me) rips out of it, where as I would only get one sesh of two dabs that weren't that big dabbing it.

I definitely use the globe/TI kiss carts more than my Hercules SR-71 since I believe them to be more conservative as well. I guess I haven't truly mastered the SR71 yet? I've heard myths and rumors about the Iris dialing it down to making it near godlike vapor and taste wise but haven't ever had the chance to try it.

@Patrick Hughes
Whats the duration of the power on and off for your 3-4 session of the 3-4 big rips? Along with the cool down periods? I've been using budder wax with 1 TI coil and haven't gotten results anywhere close to over 9 good rips for just .15

Regarding the Herc's efficiency I would like to submit the following based on my actual usage data.

In my last half year of almost exclusive daily Herc use I go through 1 gram of wax in 2 weeks (yes I'm a light weight) except for the 1st gram when I'm priming the oil coil which only lasts 1 week. Since I have been cleaning every 6 grams that means that 6 grams of wax lasts me 11 weeks or 77 days (at least). Assuming that 1 gram of wax is 80% THC 6 grams represents 4,800mg of THC and divided by 77 days is about 62mg of THC a day.

Now with my Solo vape I averaged (over 2 years) .4 grams of flower per day. Assuming the bud is 20% THC that works out to 80mg per day. (I find the eNano to be equal to the Solo in efficiency if I set it to give me the same shade of ABV.)

Now subjectively I am getting at least as medicated from my Herc SR71 as I did from my Solo/eNano. I really think I feel a little more medicated with the Herc.

So, how come I'm getting at least as medicated with the Herc using 77% of the THC that my Solo uses?

It seems to me that my SR71 is very THC efficient! Am I missing something?

Hedo

P.S. I didn't notice any change in wax usage with or without the Iris.

I use 3.7 v (black rod) - 1 hit is two full button cycles (hold it until it goes off) but I am puffing intermittently through the first, hard for the second and then inhale with the button off for as long as I can, hold it, blow it out, and then inhale with the button off a lot to cool it down (that's one rip)

@THC SCIENTIFIC hey g, is the sr71 likely to fry my gen 1 top? I plan on upping to the 8 anyway but just wondering what the risk is being impatient. Runs my 3.7 sr74 just fine... torched it all clean and loaded fresh jesus og shatter today... flavor is intense and like new!

The 71 can mess up your original top if not assembled correctly if over tightened.

I dont think so. The theory is sound it's all user preference that complicates the equation, but the Herc is designed to conserve your oil.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but I'm seriously considering purchasing an SR-71 along with a Persei. My question is does it work okay with very runny oil? I buy CO2 oil in a syringe and it's about the consistency of some thin syrup. Would it leak? Would it still be able to hold ~.5?

I believe with runny oil, you might want to consider the 2 coil approach and rotate them when the bottom coil needs to be re-primed. And yes, it would hold .5g and the possibility of it leaking is definitely possible, it really depends on how you use it.

The top to my persei started smoking and now it doesn't work. I just recieved the hercules sr-74 loaded it up hit the button and everything started smoking except the ax inside :(

How old is your Persei? That used to be common with the original Persei tops because they were designed before the Herc was ever a thought. If you have a warranty, they will send you one of the latest tops which have fixed the problem.

And @darkrom
Here's the way I looked at it...yes, on average I got thicker clouds out of the cera... But to get those clouds I was constantly preheating for 10 or so seconds and the vapor wasn't nearly as tasty...

With the herc, no real need to preheat (unless 3.7V) and it's easy to get clouds that are comparable, while maybe not As thick way more tasty.

Oh yeah just an observation. Not saying thicker clouds are better or anything. Later today after work I'll give myself a mega rip to see how big the herc can really go.

One other question, should there be oil like pooling above the coil, or is the idea to get ALL of the oil melted into the coil itself and everything above it be empty space? I've been getting good results with both methods really. Right now it looks "empty" but I know there has to be a ton of oil soaking into those coils, or else I'm really ripping through my oil.
