Tstat, before you start thinking your LB is defective, you need to get past the learning curve. ;) There is a definite trick to this little vape. Your batteries came charged, more likely than not, so would not have taken long to top off. And just because you can't see the vapor, doesn't mean it isn't there. You tasted something, right? Vapor. This box is meant to be stealthy. Huge plumes of vapor are not. In the right light, a hit that seems non existent will look big. Be patient and get some practice in, varying the time you keep the battery in and the way you hit it. I'm sure you will find your sweet spot.

Hello everyone. I have a magic flight box vape and I love it! It is my primary "pipe"...... I use it daily :)
I am having one problem though.....my box when not in use REEKS of weed. It has made it scary to carry in public, like in my purse...I don't want my purse to reek when I open it.....is my box flawed? Is it supposed to smell? How can I get rid of the smell so it can become portable again? Thanks

I've had one MFLB since June, and bought a second to take in virgin condition on a 4 week tour of Italy. It WAS truly magical. I've been spending at least a mo. in Europe per year for the past 20, and have always had smoke. Hotels were iffy, but since I don't "look" the part... there was never a hassle. Then came the EU smoking ban for all rooms in all hotels. So I decided to take up vaping while traveling.

Total JOY! Train bathrooms.... no problem. Convent-hotel in Siena... no problem. The Academia in Florence while contemplating David!... no problem. Quick hit in a restaurant restroom while on an all day jaunt....ditto. The battery charger worked overnight each night, with a small plug converter.

I took 4 unpeeled batteries with me, which I peeled on arrival, to cause fewer questions if found in checked luggage. The box was just slipped into a packed pair of shoes. And one peeled battery in my carry-on for use while waiting for charging to be complete once I arrived.

I had planned to trash the box before heading back to the USA, ($4 a day to use & toss), but at MFLB's suggestion, gave it to a young woman with MS on my last night in Amsterdam. (They suggeested I try to find a medical user....right on. Win-win.

There was so much interest in the box during my final 5 days in AMS that I suspect next year I may not even need to carry one over there...I can pick one up on arrival.

now its just too hot to use without a mouthpiece, imo its too hot even with one as it can still make me caough cause of the heat, but its obviously better than burning my lips

Preferably any stockists in the uk please..

Thanks
Haha I lost my extra piece exactly like that too, it just disappeared from my desk. Not that i care coz I only used it when other people wanted to hit my box.. I find it hits real nice in native mode if you get used to it. Why don't you just try inhaling faster when hitting it native? That should cool it down

You were right, just inhaling near the box with no mouthpiece is the best way to go for sure!
Don't seal the hole tightly with lips, just inhale near it holding the box stealth in your fist :ninja:
Any air that comes in is just helping cool the vapor ;)

Im not even gonna use those mouthpieces i ordered now

I've never experienced a strong weed odor with my box, but I'm sure there is some residual aroma as these babies aren't airtight. I would fist suggest to try a different strain (some weed has a much more pungent odor than others). You may also want to keep your herb in a prescription bottle as these keep almost all the odor inside. If all else fails you can try putting the box in a ziplock baggie when it's in your purse.

Good luck!

Oh, yea... That's why i said i need to learn it. I don't think it's defective at all. Smaller, shallower hits...

Tstat, I would say that on your first few trenches go some where relaxing and quiet where you won't be disturbed. In your car, while rushing around is not ideal to learn anything that requires some finesse.

Take your time, feel the taste and temp of the vapor change as you vary your draw strength and remember to really dry your herb first, then grind it to the consistency of table salt for a nice even browning of your trench load.

Nevermind. Several tries later. Got it. Wow. This thing ROCKS! Once I got the short breaths down... Holy shit. Damn, unreal.

Neither of my two LBs have much weed odour at all. It's something I test occasionally, and to be honest I'm surprised there isn't a stronger smell from mine. I can't see how this could be a flaw with the LB itself.

I'd bet that this is a function of your weed and not the LB. Try cleaning the screen with ISO (see the description at the link in my sig) and then a couple or three heating cycles of about 30-45 seconds with an empty trench. I've had a couple of incidents that left a bad taste and smell and that's what I did to make it go away. I'd be interested to know if this helps.

Of course, if your stash is really the source of your troubles, you'll have to suffer it out until you can get a different variety.

Thanks everyone for your help. Upon closer inspection I have come to the conclusion...it is the herb itself that makes my LB smell.
I guess I will just have to tough it out! ;)

I've had mine for several months now and am still blown away by this thing! Just peeled and de-glued some new Eneloops. She rocks again!

Hey everyone, been a mflb user for around 6 months now using it on a daily basis, the box has never let me down and it still works as great as it did when i first bought it.
I have one concern about it though, the screens have started to peel slowly over time and it looks like eventually the whole screen will come off, anyone have any ideas how i could fix this? would the warranty cover this?

Thanks.

Yes the warranty does cover this and much more. If it starts giving you problems just contact Magic Flight and they will take care of you! Great warranty to say the least!

Yea, it's funny... Last night I sat in bed and experimented with the LB. After a few tries, I just totally got it! Small, light, intermittent breaths and it performs amazingly! I am in love with this little box. It's the perfect compliment to my EQ. I will never combust again! :ko:

ive been reading through this thread and i am seeing alot of positive reviews of the warranty that comes with it, how does it work?
I send them an email stating the problem with the serial number and they just send me a new one?
I'll contact them soon, i'd hate my mflb to just give out on me and have to wait awhile for a replacement since i'm in the uk and it could take awhile.

That just about describes it. Include a photo of the problem.

My LB joy is fading as my batteries are not what they used to be. I would really appreciate some advice here, and I will try to make that easier with specific questions at the end of my description.

I've had the LB since September, and its been great. Over time some of the batteries were not causing it to heat well enough. Now they are all like that. These are the batteries which came with the unit + extras I ordered (no label, so no idea what they actually are) and also some "Power 2000" 2900mah that I found online. I believe these might just be terrible products and I should have shopped more wisely.

The problem: I used a sharpie pen to label them, and now those marks have vanished!

I bought a Wizard C9000 charger on the advice of magic-flight and the users here, but it is not solving my woes completely. I have read the instructions, repeatedly, but still need some clarification. I've run the "refresh and analyze" mode 2 times on some of the batteries and they are still not packing the punch they should. The box runs just a bit too cool. Vapor is possible but it takes forever and is weak. I've put 2 of the batteries back in for a 3rd cycle, and am trying the "break-in" on the other 2.

Questions:

1) How can the batteries be labelled permanently?

2) How can I identify bunk batteries? Mine are all showing 1990-2005 or so and 1.6v after the refresh program completes. I assume this means they are not charging up to snuff.

3) What are the ideal charge and discharge settings (for the batteries the LB comes with)? I have been using the defaults. Break-in asks for the total capacity. How do I determine this, what should I use for the LB supplied batteries?

4) What is the "cycle" mode used for?

I am willing to buy new batteries if I need to, I really need the LB to continue to work like it did!

Thanks for any other c9000 insight. I have tried searching but as you know this thread is overwhelming and the search function is not great. It would be wonderful for some kind soul to make a LB Battery FAQ, perhaps Magic Flight could host it for the good of the community. I would if I had the smarts but much of this battery stuff confuses me terribly.

Argh! Try the link in my sig.

Your Power 2000 batteries are really 2000 mAh batteries. I'm not sure where the 2900 came from, but it's bogus. I don't think there are any NiMH beyond 2700 mAh. The problems you describe certainly sound like battery issues. Get Maha Powerex 2700 mAh batteries, use the break-in feature of the C-9000 (caveat: takes 36 hours) and you will be amazed at the difference. I promise.

The LB stock batteries are Maha Imedions, which have a 2400 mAh capacity. The default settings are close enough for those. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to separate them from the Power 2000s, which are definitely underpowered for the LB and should be dumped.

I haven't found a marker that will make a permanent mark on the batteries. You can wrap the lower end of the battery with a tape that can hold a marking, but be sure not to wrap it too far up the casing. Remember that the portion that is inside the LB must be nekkid.

Thanks for pointing out the link! Good stuff.

I assume if I treat all my batteries as the Imedions, some will obviously be failing still, and those should be put to different use. Too bad I was suckered by the 2900mah claim :(

I saw someone mention "hockey tape" for batteries but I am hoping not to need to special order something just to mark batteries. I live far away from any kind of sporting goods store. What other types will adhere durably?

Ordinary masking tape should work just fine.
