I think a coffee filter is tooooo fine. I'm still looking for the best way to strain the ABV - Maybe cheesecloth?

I'm thinking kitchen wire strainer. It will not get it all but don't really care. It all vapes.

Okay used 1 and a half bottles did two washes. Do you let it drip or should I compress it to get all the liquid out?

I used an old screen type strainer. I tried using a sock to get the last squeeze and it just absorbed into the sock!.. That all went into the trash. The coffee press method would be best at that point I think. Or trash should of been the next step? Is there any use for pressing the last bit of moisture?
I have a Pyrex dish with a small electric fan over it. Windows open and fast fans on. Wow don't strike a match! The vapor is strong! Other than that It looks good.

I've done it with coffee filters but it ended up a little too much contact time as they drain so slowly. I'd use a french press/fine sieve and then coffee filters next time.

I often just mix the oil into some standard import hash so it covers the flavour and allows it to be handled easier. QWISO's so bloody awkward to smoke

does increased contact time infer increased potency? Or is that an incorrect assumption?

It does to a point. But once your at the recommended point (about 2-3 min for qwet or 30-45 sec for qwiso) then you are just extracting the unwanted stuff that makes it more harsh. And as for straining I usually use either a tea strainer or cheese cloth to get the big pieces then coffee filter to get the rest. Tho I want to try an areo press once I get some extra money because that seems like it would be much easier.

Okay I ended up with one small razor blade of oil and a large dish of ABV bark. It is a thin layer that came right up from the pyrex in sheets. I balled it up and it is the size of a ping pong ball and weighs the same. I tried a large wad in between green with the Nano and what a waste of time and money. My ABV will go in the trash from here on out. I get more from my screen cleaning and gong cleaning than ABV. The oil I did end up with I scraped from the edges where the evaporation left it on the sides.

aeropress works great for multiple uses. i use it with 10 micron and 25 micron screens to filter my qwet runs although the normal paper ones would probably work better for tincture. I'm convinced though that not everything goes through the filter and that some stuff goes around it. It just seems there is too much space around the ring of the filter cap, stacking multiple filters may help that? Honestly I would probably strain out the majority of the tincture through another method and only use the aeropress on the leftover buds to get the rest out.

Thanks for the feedback, I am considering an Aeropress since they are pretty affordable.

For filtration I use a cooking gadget called a superbag:

I use the 100 micron version, which is the smallest they sell. They are $40 with shipping so not dirt cheap. That said, they are dishwasher safe and sturdy, and I also use it in place of cheesecloth for cooking applications (e.g. straining stocks, gravies, pitchers of iced coffee). Its much less messy than cheesecloth and doesn't get as clogged as either a cheesecloth or coffee filter.

Here's a photo of it in action:

Wassup peeps.

I've been searching for an easy way to make the best out of my ABV. Nothing seems to fit for me.

As I understand, you can cook. Wich isn't an option for a couple of reasons.
You can use ISO. Wich I don't have, nor am tempted to buy it.
You can use wodka for a Green Dragon. Wich I have to use my gas stove, what I rather not.
You can just eat them as topping.

I read something about just let them sit in alcohol, Green Dragon without the cooking? Is this a good option? I do have time so that's not a worry.

How about the taste when used as topping? And what's the best to eat it with?

Is there another option that I forgot to mention that doesn't involve cooking or ISO?

Let's hear some experience talking!

You can use everclear instead of ISO. you don't need to heat, it's all been decarbed already. Some like the taste of Abv. Some don't. I like it on a pbj with toast. Otherwise I do iso run and vape that before bed.

I've made green dragon with low quality herb plenty of times. I don't use Vodka, instead I use Grain (eveclear) alcohol. 90% alcohol. I simply grind and soak in alcohol. My wife likes to take about 20mL with a can of RedBull.

I am planning to try making some ABV green dragon, but I haven't yet had time.

I recently tried an ounce of ABV + butter in my wife's sousvide - worked great. I have a nice bit of butter to spread on anything. Taste is decent, not great. Still need more experimenting with the butter, but the smell was minimal until I opened the bag to strain the goodies.

Would a t-shirt in a spaghettidrainer work to filter? Read it somewhere.
How much you suggest mixing with a drink? I read some drops, is it really that strong?

Do you feel it then? And with roughly how much on it?

Edit: sorry for the double post mods, mobile phone was going crazy with the multiquote after i already replied to a reaction

It really depends on how spent the abv is in my uses.. But I do feel it and it really helps my pain so I can actually sleep.. Darker abv will need more, lighter I can use less, but usually just sprinkle it on or mix it into yogurt with some granola.

I really haven't done much filtering aside from a coffee filter. I usually use a ladle to scoop some everclear from the jar, keeping the herbs in the alcohol.

It all depends on how strong you make the batch. Every batch I make is different. You should start with 10 or 20mL and see how you feel. My wife knows how much works for her, but the batch is almost gone, and I'll start all over. She'll need to experiment all over again to find the proper dosage

I'm gonna try mixing it with yoghurt. My problem is gonna be to not vape while waiting on the effect, if there is gonna be any. Otherwise I don't know if it's worth a shot or not. Then I can decide after if I'm gonna try with everclear (wich I don't think I have a sufficient amount for now, 4g).

Nice thinking! No disadvantages if you let the ABV in the everclear?

I've had a jar of everclear soaking for over 18 months without any issues, seems just as potent (if not more) than it was previously.

I think it was with ISO that after a couple of minutes or so you get unwanted stuff that soak out of it. Is this right? And if it is, isn't it the same with alcohol?

Just thinking out loud.
