Another use for the coil, a catfish lure! Most cool.

How big was the fish?

OF
Actually, it DID end up in the water.. But not intentionally, of course it was with a fresh load too.

All we caught were small brown bullheads. No bueno.

It's a walleye day today!

Its really hard to beat the hit and use of a vapor genie and its amazing price love my genies and i have alot of other vapes but this the hammer are top in my list of portables IMO

If i could do a top 5 best portables(which i own and use) it would be like this IMHO
1. Solo (no question bout it its king)
2. Hammer (reliable,clouds,portable)
3.genie(clouds,portable,cheap)
4.Vapman(compact,easy to use)
5.MFLB(small,warranty,stealthy)

But if it was a tane/off the grid only list
1.The hammer
2.Lotus
3.Genie
4.Vapman
5.Dasiy(haven't tried it but looks amazing and has awesome reviews on FC)

So out of the of the bats and the coil, which works better/is easier to use?
And how does the "regular" genie compare?
I'm not sure which version I should get...

The coil is amazing, but best for travel or water pipes. The classic for me is the best not by much just my personal preference. They both work and very well, but if you dont wanna spend much and just wanna try one the coil is best. Then VAS will kick in and you'll want the rest of them as well. The bats from what i hear suck, or are harder to use and get a hit. I cant say never used one and wouldnt get it after ppl saying it was difficult to use.

I agree, but would probably have sneaked few more periods in there to separate out the thoughts.

The coil does excel with a WT I think, but 'barefoot' it has troubles and catches the hairs of your beard/mustache. It and the metal bats have heat problems with even moderate hitting, the classic and more conventional designs combat this fairly well with wood. In the metal bats, the SS heats slower than Al but also takes longer to cool off.

My personal favorite is the bronze one, although it's not very portable. But it does a great job, as I intend to reprove later on today in fact.

For small, low cost and being utilitarian I recommend the classic. Although if you're like a lot of us you'll soon be buying more models. I gave my classic away a while back.

Im at work so im tryin to type quickly lol. Didnt want my boss to catch me on a website that says FUCKCOMBUSTION. But i must agree with @OF the best looks to be the bonze, which i hope to be getting soon. I'd also say the hand carved if you want something more flashy it works as good as the classic. These three seem to be the best but the choice is yours to make. The glass works good to just gotta be careful good luck:tup:

I got to try bronze, and it was indeed a good one.
I still am stuck on the glass sherlock as my favorite of all, but I use the old wooden one more often due to my obsessive need to keep glass VG clean and tidy!
(Mentioned here many times... that the glass sherlock is not as easy as others to clean.)

It's a more basic PVC-on-Wood junction now, with cotton in front of the wooden aperture. I've also plugged the "PinHole" conduit with just a tiny wee bit of cotton since it was slightly too large and it felt i needed to restrain its airflow somewhat. Which tells me such auxiliary self-conditioning feature really needs to be kept small to preserve a good sense of balance... Not to mention next time i may prefer to drop the intermediary (wood plug) part: i'd suggest to drill directly into that pipe's body instead.

:peace:

Addendum: 1 More...

2i7w9vn.jpg

This illustration above helps me to explain that i've cut that pipe's handle some 7 ~ 8 mm too short as i should have taken advantage of it all to implement a more stable mating: without it the round shape allows excessive movement which may easily cause my PVC extension tube to slip out... Or course the teflon straw + plastic adaptor might be an option but the primary goal was to manage without those in the 1st place.

At least the "PinHole" to outlet airflows ratio seems about right i guess, this could happen to be exactly what my very 1st pipe should have been to begin with, a couple years ago i think. In other terms it's been made even more inclusive: sessions have become fairly replicable (e.g. piece of cake)! I'll have to wait 'n see if tomorrow is another day, or maybe it won't matter anymore, etc. Perhaps it's been about my learning curve all along but anyway i like this one. Also i should recall i must avoid the MiniTronic Bic lighter from now on, for some reason.

I ran a search and found a lot of people asking the question but not getting an answer... what is the best way to clean my VG classic? The VG website doesn't even have anything, just how to de-soot the filter. After about an ounce of flower through my VG it looks like it needs a cleaning. Has all sorts of resin and stuff under the screen. Do I just do the best I can with dry pipe cleaners? I know that using iso is a no-no.

A dry pipe cleaner or a even better one of the ss wire brushes they sell on the VG website. The steel Brush really does the job much better, well worth the $3.50 in my eyes.

Seconding RB's suggestion. The brushes sold for the purpose do well:

Also the less common pipe cleaners they sell, with bristles, are superior to the more common soft cotton ones when it comes to baked in gunk.

Salutations Jethro,

I ran a search and found a lot of people asking the question but not getting an answer...

It sure comes as a surprise to me considering uncle Vito actively monitors this thread.

Maybe some hints/links were provided already... Hard for me to say as i've transformed my pipe extensively.

...how to de-soot the filter.

I believe one should never ever collect soot on a VG SiC puck to begin with!! Revise methodology if you do and try not to forget regular butane tank purges neither as this helps avoid early clogging.

:2c:

...all sorts of resin and stuff under the screen.

Possibly i can suggest using twin screens with an air layer in between, without the anular support since such stacking will require additional space: i've found dark residual stuff collecting there recently. It can be re-vaped but has a tar hint i prefer to reject.

I know that using iso is a no-no.

Alcohol soaking over night is a bad idea but i've experimented with 94 % concentrated alcohol applied on cotton swabs and also as a mist for real tough jobs:

That's no endorsement and i wouldn't actually recommend it. Assume your own risks...

Yet i've done it before with a long string of absorbing paper ready to dry it without delay. Only spray inside as a last resource, pipe-cleaner strands usually suffice.

...

In addition, please take note this occured mostly during unstable times when i kept changing configurations, so it got messy all right... Not to mention i had to tame down my dosage using "pre-vaped blends" and hence i no longer have to worry much about gunky residues anyway.

A brush will help too, of course.

I use pipe cleaners... one soft and one with bristles.
I barely moisten them with rum or other regular (NOT overproof) alcoholic distilled beverage.
Shake off all excess liquor well (or pinch it and squeeze it through).
Floss the inside until satisfied.
Hold the mouthpiece over vacuum nozzle for a second to speed dry any moisture left behind.
It will seal itself nicely, while ridding the excess oils.

Genius! Rum. Who would have thought. Anyway, I have ordered a few brushes and some other goodies from VG.

I've been using the Vapor Genie coil with butane refillable lighters, but they are a cheaply made 3-pack of lighters that I got from Big Lots, the kind with the long metal stem that people use for lighting bbqs and fire places. The flame typically blips like the feed of butane is not steady enough and it often goes out when hitting unless you are around fairly still air. All three act the same way so that's just how they perform. They have gotten the job done overall and I was thrilled to find a whole pack of refillable electronic lighters for something like $3.50, but I really feel like I get caught unnecessary sucking down a lot of unburned butane plus I'm ready for some consistency.

Is a torch the absolute best way to use the Coil and can anyone suggest a good portable one that can fit decently in a loose pocket for under $12? I saw a pen style on Amazon for around $8 that gets good reviews but it might take around three weeks to get here from China. I'd like one that is decent on fuel consumption and is solid adjusting the flame. Also, what do you look for to identify whether or not the heating element has soot buildup?

Check out puffitup's lighter selection. I have three from there as all three are used equally with ZERO gripes. From me anyways

This guy has long been my favorite for such things:
http://www.dxsoul.com/product/jet-1300-c-butane-lighter-901001320#.VByp2qxmNiI

I just bought some from them in fact, took 8 days but you have to buy $15 worth of something to get free shipping. In the past I've bought them here:
http://www.dx.com/p/jet-1300-c-butane-lighter-1320#.VBypzKxmNiI

Takes longer, can costs a bit more, but you can order just one if you want. Great lighters, I spread them all over and give them away. I have yet to break or wear one out. The one on the desk has LOTS of use, I long ago took the dust cover and chain off it, no need if it's not riding around in your pocket or something.

Seems like DX.Extreme is giving free shipping to US. So can I really get just one shipped from Australia for $2.91 total? Are they adjustable? Those would be very handy to have since they're cheap and good, but I would prefer to have something like the ones on Puffitup for my main lighter. Anyone else have links to sleeker, more inconspicuous ones like those, maybe for an even better price?

Tonight is actually the first time I had a good experience using a torch lighter with a classic VG, using one of these torches linked above by OF as a matter of fact.

I tried a half dozen smoke shop "pipe lighters" in the past with poor results.

Now using one of these torches I fully understand why ya'll like using a torch over a bic most of the time.

I am using a classic with the newer top now and the "stone" sits closer to the load (so further from the flame, i think) on the new style top then my old top with the fixed stone did. maybe that made a difference ?

The Vaporgenie classic was my first vaporizer so it's nice still having one in regular service and now it'll get even more use 'til the butane runs out or Florida freezes over.

To me the funny part is they both burn about the same amount of the same gas so they make (total) heat at the same rate. The torch isn't really so much hotter as it is easier to control.

My only problem with it is when it comes to the coil......I'm just not comfortable with waving that around my nose.

So I don't really use my classic VG much as I only really vape at home so use my e nano most the time but the other week I was at a poker game and had. My solo with Me by the end of the night the solo was dead and I still had some bud on me as weed is illegal hear in the UK and I seam to get stopped and searched by police so much I hate carrying weed on me and wos more at night so I rolled a fat joint with what I had left anyway got me thinking about the vapor genie and if I had it with me I would not have had to smoke

So lately I have bin using my VG but only have a large torch so it was staying at home for now as I dont/can't use standard lighters with a VG today I went out and got a lil torch lighter and have bin getting massive rips in seconds the VG really hits like a train and will be in my bag at all times when I'm going out as a back up
