Discontinued Elevape SV

Okay, after rereading some of my comments about the Elevape, there's a couple things I want to clarify for the sake of 100% accuracy.

Yes, I do reread most (all) of my "material." Hard to believe, in some cases...

First of all, I forget to mention that my FF power button, basically the equivalent of the ESV temp level button, did start to flake after appx 4 months of heavy usage, at and away from home. My FF certainly doesn't look "mint" after 9 months, but it does, in fact, look better after 9 months than the ESV looks after about a week of heavy on-the-go usage. The ESV just seems to attract scratches.

Also, I initially said the ESV works just fine with unground material. And this is true. However, the effect of unground material in the ESV does not match the effect of unground material in the FF. With the FF, it's up to the user to decide which they prefer, and in some cases it more comes down to in what method they hit the FF. With the ESV, I think it's clear that you really do have to grind to get it to work "right." But that is just my opinion.

I initially had problems getting to level 2 on the ESV. Now that the temp level button has been "worked in" a bit more, this is no longer much of a problem. Could still be better though.

The FF benefits more from priming than the ESV does.

Both of these units will create a noticeable smell if you OPEN them in a public place.

I guess my opinion is evolving here...

I've been using my elevape most of the time lately and I must say, it does lower
my usage considerably. There are things to improve but I really do like it, it's my
friend on the road and pretty much anywhere I go.

This thing does hold it's vapor a really long time, if you open it 10 seconds after inhaling,
sometimes vapor still comes out and I always keep inhaling for a bit after the light stops blinking.

When I empty the bowl, I always take a tissue and put it aroung the bowl and then blow
trough the mouthpiece. It's amazing how many particles come out. Every once in awhile when
I blow trough the mouthpiece, the coil starts to heat up.

Normally I try to bring a brush with me when on the go because I found that if I use my stirrer
to get the herbs from the screen of the mouthpiece, it gunks up even faster.

When used at the same spot often (like I do, on the cough) you need to vacuum more, because
like it was mentioned before, you tend to spill some every time you stir.
Best not to stir too often in your car if police with sniffing dogs can apear on your route.

I also find that my herb usage is less with the sv then my mflb was. My unit looks brand new except for around the rim of the cap. Haven't drop it and use the case for transport mostly so that May account for lack of wear.

A few days ago I had my elevape hooked up to my pc and I started to inhale.
I could see an energy drop of about 27 procent for just a sec and then it jumped
back to about 20% when the red light flashed, the energy bar jumped back to before
and had dropped about 1 procent.
So 80 ish inhales untill no more power is possible, where it stops
heating at about 20% battery life because of the 20% decrease in power when inhaling.

And i imagine that 80inhales number goes down if you do the 1-3sec primer hit before your 8sec draws?

I did no priming so I would suspect it wil go down, but I'm not sure if it would go down that much,
because if you do a 1-3 sec prime and then you start to inhale, the coil stays red hot, so I would
think it doesn't need that much energy for the second inhale because the coil is already red hot.
Or am I completely wrong here?

Coming off a fresh charge the sv inhale temp is neither hot or cold, but as the battery gets low the draw feels much cooler but you still get visible vapor. This is usually when I plug it back in to recharge. Thing just keeps chuggin along. My unit is very consistent. Cleaning top screen and stirring every third draw plus occasion dusting of temp sensor. I'm only using one temp setting, prefer the flavor of #9.

Yes, The power of the Lurk is very strong with this one... I appreciate the efforts of the members who post consistently much more now.

So it's been two months since I've had the sv, and I can say the new toy aura has officially faded now. I can still say that I am extremely satisfied with the purchase and I believe that it was the best choice out there for my needs. However, I also realize there is still a lot of room for improvement on these new portable vaporizers.

My purchase of the sv coincided with my resumption of the use of mj after a break of a few months...During the first couple of weeks with the sv, I was vaporizing around 3 bowls a day. Now, I'm closer to 10-12 bowls a day. I mention this because while initially I felt I could get away with cleaning the sv once a weeks and replacing the lid screen with a clean one twice I week, I now find that to maintain a consistently smooth vaping experience. I have to insert a new lid screen every night, and clean the sv thoroughly every other night. This translates to a total of 45-60 minutes of cleaning spread out through the week for me. Now it's been a long time since I used the pax, however, although the cleaning time seemed to be around the same, I remember the process for the pax to be much more cumbersome and annoying to try and get it cleaning to a certain level.

My increased mj consumption also has made the whole constant stirring thing more of an issue. There was a conversation a few pages back about whether or not this is dog walking kinda vaporizer. I do believe it isn't the most practical in that sense. Especially since, I have gotten used to stirring by simply emptying the bowl in the palm of my hand and just pouring it back it...the problem with not using the stirring rod like that is it gets very messy as mentioned already... and that is one of the major negative points for me.

I also don't think the temp settings have as much use as I initially though. When vaping on any setting, some amount of herbs in the bowl will always brown much more darker then the rest of the bowl. Meaning, if you vape and stir the bowl long enough, on any setting, you will get a completely extracted abv.

Last week I started including smoking joints in my rotation. I've read a lot on this forum about members experiences with vaporized mj being much more intense and pleasant than smoking it. This is not the case for me. I find that a small joint (equal to what I would put in roughly 3 sv bowls), gets me to where I want to be, and I find that I can go a longer period without thinking about when I want to take another hit. I find myself getting excited to smoke a joint, and feeling slightly disappointed when I realize I have to stick to vaporizing instead. I know this is the fuckcombustion forum, and I hope no one is offended by this.

With respect to battery life, I'm now simply accustomed to having the sv plugged in at all times, in anticipation of anything unexpected arising (it happens often), which would require me to be away from a usb connection.

I recently saw the arizer solo at a smokeshop and I was surprised at how small it is. Definitely not pockatable but still a lot smaller then I had imagined. It had been my first choice for a vaporizer until I read about the sv...and every once in a while, when I find myself cleaning or having to stir the bowl, I wonder whether I would've enjoyed having the solo more. But until now, I find that the sv is a step ahead when it comes to my needs with respect to portability, stealth, and on demand vaping.

Just to update on my friend who also ended up ordering an sv from vapornation....Vapornation immediately reimbursed him the 20% off after he contacted them and told them that the coupon code hadn't worked for him. The red light on my friends sv isn't working...I told him to contact joe, and that he was extremely friendly and helpful, but he couldn't be bothered.... he said he was fine with it as long as it was working. He also had issues with the battery indicator not going green, but for some reason it started to work and glow green when fully charged.

So overall, whoever owns an SV, would you recommend it? I have my trusty Solo, but need something a LOT more pocketable, so it's either this or the PAX, and from what I've read the SV seems a lot better (Convection, easier cleaning) but there seems to be so little hype about it, it's just confused me :S

I'm still experimenting, its only real limitation as a portable is the constant need to stir. Hopefully that will be resolved soon though. In the meantime @PlasticTastic I would strongly suggest checking out the Indica as a more portable compliment to your Solo, I loved mine so much I ended up preferring it to my Solo alltogether now.

Really, all 3 are a winning combo. You get super portable pure conduction with Indica, portable pure convection with Elevape, and less portable conduction/convection mix with the Solo. And all three are extremely efficient as well!

If your a heavy user, more then a couple bowls a day then the stirring would be a pain I'm sure. For group sessions same deal, bit too much stirring. But for a personal vape I get enough out of a three draw session then stir so it's ready for the next round that it feels really easy to use.

Hmmm, pretty much same dimensions as the SV. I've heard good things about it, but I've been told that convection > conduction. The lack of heat-up time is really appealing. Which one would you recommend? Which one weighs more? I already carry enough crap in my pocket aha.

Also which one conceals the smell best?

Yeah dude, this isn't really the place to ask which is better, and either way like you said it is convection apples to conduction oranges. To learn more about the Indica, check out that thread and post some questions if you need to. Lot of great reviews over there (mine included).

As for Elevape oriented comparisons:

- smell is definitely minimal with quick on demand convection hits, but since you have to open it to stir, people can then smell the herb when you do that.

- Elevape weighs a little more with all its solid aluminum, it kinda feels like a tiny little tank in your hand

- the Elevape also has one hit being a little stronger, bc of the nature of convection, but there is also more variance based on technique. A conduction session vape is just about as simple as just turning it on and start inhaling, but its constantly cooking so it takes a few to get going strong, and the temp settings are your point of control.

As someone earlier mentioned, the Elevape temp settings are more guidelines since each person is different in how they inhale. I can vape a whole bowl on level 3 if I want (I use 8 the most, my middle setting) with some dark spots, so there can be a much less even extraction in the Elevape than in the Indica

I'm still experimenting with mine too, but it's still my daily driver. I don't seem to be having much luck when it's unplugged though. I can get hits sometimes, other times I get nothing at all. When I'm plugged in, it's much more consistent. I think I've got the problem that was mentioned by someone earlier where it needs to be plugged into a USB for a few seconds to work again, despite having battery. I don't trust taking it out of the house because I can't rely on it working when I want it and at home I just keep it plugged in all the time to avoid any battery headaches. Has anyone managed to resolve that issue yet? I'm wondering if reflashing the firmware would help.

@vapecat I am having the same reliability issues/lack of charging. You might want to contact Joe @ Ipuff.
He will take care of you. I have a unit that will not take a charge at all. It is on its way back to the Ipuff repair shop, hopefully for a fresh battery. I recently received a beta download for Mac applications. Need to charge my 2nd EV and then I will give the software a try. Will report back with results.

Update on my screen replacement pack. I'm still using the new screens on the lid and mp but I went back to my original screens for the bowl since the sensor was just getting dirty too fast. For me, the new screens for the lid and mp were worth the purchase though.

Thanks for the update. Does the new lid screen help with prolonging the need to stir? Curious how you get the bowl screen out? Just push up on it?

I think it might help a little bit but it's minimal. The slight increase in air flow and the screens not getting clogged as fast are the main benefits.

The bowl screen was a little tricky the first time. There's a silver retainer ring on the other side of the bowl neatest the coil and it keeps the screens snug. I was told to use an eraser to get a grip on it to unscrew it but that didn't work. Mine was stuck on there pretty good so I ended up just pushing the screens out and wedging my pinky finger in the hole real snug and twisted and that worked like a charm.

Well, I must say, I'm a little surprised to see this thread moving so slowly at this point...

I'm just dropping by to say that the ESV has had pretty much a life-changing effect on where, when, and how often I vaporize. And it's all for the better because now I vape on-the-go virtually any time I want to. :brow:

Walking down the street? Yeah, of course. As I'm walking into a building? Oh my, yes. Sitting outside at a restaurant? You bet! Sitting inside at a restaurant? Oftentimes, yes. Sneak hits at work? Barely have to sneak.

You get the idea. I am not afraid to vaporize pretty much anywhere anymore. I live in a place where vapes and e-cigs aren't particularly common, yet no one gives me a second look. Usually, not even a first look. And now that I've become skillful at opening / stirring / closing, I don't have any problems away from home.

After two days of what I'd consider medium usage, my battery was still above 50%. I really like being able to see what percentage of charge I'm at when I'm charging so I can avoid taking it above 95%. Very handy.

This little fucker shines bright as shit as a stealth flower vape. And it's durable. It's been through grease, cooking oil, water spills, gravel road drops, and even terror cats. It shows it, but it's working like a champ. I think it was designed to be beaten up and look worn.

I still have my complaints. I hate how opening the lid causes all that wearing above the bowl, nor do I like the fact my supplied USB cord doesn't work, or that I STILL can't tell what the color the charge light always is. The charge time can be agonizingly slow. The accessories that come with it could be bulked up. Plus, you do have to do regular cleaning maintenance on it. And I'm still not getting as even of a burn as I'd like.

I don't feel as though my away-from-home needs are completely solved, but I definitely feel much, much better about those needs. Good enough to just sit back and wait very, very patiently for my next portable purchase.

Yes, I was very wise to hitch my weed wagon to this portable star...

Fun to read your post! I too have been wondering how everyone's elevapes are doing. My guess is the stirring is turning people away. For me when I read about other vapes and their heat up time I realize how much I like the instant on aspect. It makes it very stealth and couldn't be happier with clouds and flavor. It's expensive but hope more progress is made with this type of vape.
